Okay, guess I have to use it at a game night sort of thing eventually. It is a minimum of three players, but I think a max of 5, and we generally have 6 players at any function, though.
I've only made one good post, and don't you dare accuse me of doing it again.

The first 3 expansions (Cosmic Incursion, Cosmic Conflict, and Cosmic Alliance) all add pieces to add another player in - I wouldn't recommend getting all of them and going all the way up to 8 players (With that many everyone tends to only get 1, mayyybe 2 turns), but I think 6 players still works very well. Cosmic Incursion giving a special defender bonuses deck makes defending more enticing too in case people that you play with tend to glom onto every attack to get colonies, I highly recommend it.
Also, I finally played Ticket to Ride yesterday. It was a gift to my girlfriend and her brothers last Christmas and they have all been playing for a couple of weeks now that they have had the chance, so we finally got the opportunity for me to get involved in the train fun. Good game.

yeah Ticket to Ride is basically the new gold standard for gateway game
Teaching Catan is always a lot slower than I expect it to be, and newbies usually don't stand much of a chance outside of a lot of dice help
Carcasonne is too points centric
Ticket to Ride is also good because even if you don't get top score, you can feel like you succeeded if you get a route or more completed
Turns are also quite quick even for people with analysis paralysis
That said, I find the game itself rather boring
Carcassonne is also a really bad deckbuilder
There, I said it.

I feel like that would just not be satisfying.

they are usually either gimmicky or add point salad
The River was p good though as it opens up the playing space. This fundamentally changes the way the game plays

Hello,
YoshiX
. You are
Carcassonne
. For years, Reck did nothing but play you. You were his favorite board game. All he did was sit around and study techniques and strategies to get better at playing you. After awhile, though, he forgot about you... however, at Caffwagon 2010, Reck finally remembered how amazing you are!

I was a serial killer in that game. Like not as a player, as a role.
