Armlx, making a no discussion policy won't make idiots stop being idiots. In the game you mentioned, the town was still able to spill out who the Kings were even though JDodge had that strict lynch-lynch-lynch policy set in place.
One of the slips occurred early before anything was done, and the other I have accounted for in my rule set.
And how do we scum hunt without explaining suspicions?
Talking isn't antitown. Too much can be, but I agree that random speedlynches are bad play. It kinda makes the game not mafia, too, which is lame. Policy lynching anyone who gets above X votes is probably good though, much as it would be fun to put the king at L-1 for no reason.
Hum, the majority is actually informed in this setup. I guess that's kinda the point.

Just say "Vote: so-and-so" and tell everyone to read their posts. It worked in the last Open Setup of this.
Also note that the mini AITP is different than the large AITP. Speedlynching there had a higher chance of hitting scum, and more players that they had to read/could slip up.

How is this different then with no talk just voting them at the start of the day?

Only slightly (1/8 vs 1/6), and not at all having to do with game balance issues. As for more people being dumb, I estimate the same ratio of dumb has been in every AITP game.
A note that I didn't realize until now (not major): Assassin wins when king is dead. If the king is lynched, the assassin wins immediately. I assume this was obvious, but better to eliminate any possible confusion, right?

I don't know, but I've read both of Rishi's AITP games and I know that they managed to make the game work without killing all discussion. I agree with a lot of the theory that PokerFace and Korlash said during those games.

I don't see that big of a difference between my suggestion and their actions.
EBWODP: By that I mean the same voting pattern stuff they went off of in those games will still be there, but we minimize the needless discussion to prevent anyone from doing anything extremely dumb.
I strongly disagree with Crazy on the vote without explaining reasoning thing. A vote should always be explained, we should just be careful about the explanation. As for speed-lynching, well, the chances would get better with every lynch, yes, just seems very counterintuitive...but hmmm....our chances would be, since this is nightless:
day 1 1/8 chance of a correct lynch with a 1/8 chance of correct kill
day 2 1/7 chance of a correct lynch with a 1/7 chance of a correct kill
day 3 1/6 chance of a correct lynch with a 1/6 chance of correct kill and so on...hmmm...sure, why not.

What you're suggesting resembles JDodge's outlook on the game.
By "without reasoning," I mean "withhold your reasoning if it involves the identity of the king." If the town revealed their suspicions of MCD, then that wouldn't have been good.
It proves absolutely nothing and was meant to prove nothing. Just me thinking aloud. If you haven't noticed by now, I'm generally not a fan of speed lynches. But I'm going to have to go against instinct here.
If posts are more or less the same as nothing, then why not just pick a target and say "hey, guys, lets all lynch this person right now"?
Eh, that was me just asking you why you haven't picked a target and done that yet then. Since you are advocating it, why not start us off by purposing a lynch?

I did in my first post. Wolf seems like the one most likely to cause an error if he is town (no offense), as he is a newish player who is going to try and contribute to the game.
Sigh, and error 1 goes to armlx. Why didn't I just listen to my own advice of STFU everyone and vote.
We are now obligated to lynch Wolf or myself today, as either I have essentially admitted I know he isn't king, or I am an assassin lying and randomly choosing someone.

Why are we obliged to kill myself or you? I love how you say:

So you aren't sure I am town, but I will cause error if I am (btw no offense was taken by that). You say I am newish who is going to try and contribute to the game. How is contributing a bad thing???
So you set me up to be in the spotlight there, then you backtrack and say "Oops guess you have to kill me OR him today." If anything I believe you are an assassin who just slipped up and are trying to cover yourself now.
They tell you never hit a man with a closed fist, but it is on occasion hilarious. - Malcolm Reynolds
Wolf, I fucking hate your face, but still <3 you as a whole. - Starbuck
No more talking at this point. Just votes. Next suspect after the 2 required lynches (as I have 3 votes now and must be lynched by policy, and if I don't flip assassin see above post) should be obvious to everyone though.
