qft. I think if we circulate the potato between you, Armlx and TSS, we'll be fine.
I find this ironic as that was my original plan: nom people to keep passing potatoes to each other.....

Of course a Vig will have more faith in their own shooting ability than the town's lynching ability. The Vig is 100% protown, and is wholly trying to kill scum. The town majority is made up by a percentage of scum- upto 49% of the total players. So yeh, i'd be fine with wasting a lynch in order for me to get another shot. And let's face it, if the town doesnt believe the 'shotgunned' kill method to be a vig, you're hardly going to credit them with much scumhunting ability, are ya?
what planet are you from? Self-Vig? 0.o

And you call me self centered.....

Playing the marytyr is arrogance nonetheless. And is distinctly anti-town.

There's an obvious difference there. In the self-vigging scenario and in this game, you're talking about situations where the player knows something the rest of the players don't i.e. their own alignment. That's not the case in kingmaker.

Why would you kill yourself, knowing that you are pro-town, when you can throw it to someone who is possibly scum? You
are
putting your opinion ahead of the town's, because if the town is targetting you, and you are town, then the town is wrong.

Again, if it was a matter of you dying or you not dying and you got to choose, the answer is obvious. But if you act in that manner you will die, just as if the town comes to a majority consensus you should be potatoed you will eventually die in this game. By not self killing / holding the potato, you are only putting the town in a worse situation by making it more difficult for them to move past you as a suspect.

And if townsmembers want to keep chucking potatoes at certain people, that's their choice, but we shouldn't have to feel obligated to hold on to them--- especially if we know we're town and think other people are acting scummy.

What you're suggesting:
* Person A throws potato- "Scum!"

* Person B "by god, you're right"

* Person B holds potato forever and dies.

Far more likely:

* Person A throws potato- "Scum!"

* Person B throws potato elsewhere- "Think again!"

* Someone may or may not die.

It'd be different if it was like in Dynamite Mafia, where sacrificing yourself could net you a scum, but pro-town players have no incentive to hold on to a potato and blow themselves up.

Okay, I think I get where armlx is coming from.

He's saying that if you're town, and you're found extraordinarily scummy, it would be to the town's benefit to make you die, because it's in the scum's benefit to keep scummy townies around to draw suspicion away from the real scum.

Oh ew.

Kuribo, it doesn't matter whether that was the
point
of your post, Kuribo. What matters is that that was the effect of it. Town want other town's opinions. Scum want the town to shut up. You wanted the town to shut up.

Korts, it isn't that kuribo wants to make up his own mind rather than mindlessly sheeping, it's that kuribo doesn't want to be influenced by the minds of other players. His words:
kuribo wrote:No, it won't
[provide recordation of who finds who suspicious -- ed.]
. People won't be lynched based on fakevotes as they would normal votes. People won't be bandwagoned based on fakevotes, since they HOLD NO BEARING. The ONLY thing recording the fakevotes will do is give the SCUM a handy-dandy little reference guide to let them know who their most vocal opponents would be.
He claims that because a fakevote won't directly cause the person to die, it has no value to anyone but scum. Let me repeat that: he says that
town expressing who they find suspicious, and why
has no value to anyone but scum.

At the moment, I have put forward just about the only case on anybody. Can someone explain to me why I am in the potato wheel, besides kuribo's OMGUS? Which is itself scummy, since as kuribo himself has been so eager to point out to us, one person's OMGUS can without more get its target killed.
Stuff sweet potato down kuribo's pants
I think it's pretty clear that TSS's awesomeness did alter the roles each of us recieved, and thus he's obviously pro-town. -- Save The Dragons

Just got caught up on the posts since I last posted. A lot of it is a big argument between armlx and kuribo, with a few put ins from other players. In said argument both parties have made some valid points, although I do notably disagree with armlx's "commit suicide if the town tells you to" comments.

The problem I have is that the thread has, to a degree, gone from being a group discussion to being a dialogue. Kuribo and armlx have successfully single tracked the game direction, whether intentionally or not. There are a few who have been posting, but doing so sporadically and with little content.

There are also those who have not posted for some time - these people I would like to hear from as they may have a relatively fresh viewpoint on the game so far, which is what I think this game needs at the moment. As such:

MODS:
Could you please prod wizardcat, CoheedCambria09 and DarlaBlueEyes.
"I can't not give mad props to the murderbot 9000 that was q21." - Spyrex, after Scummies Invitational 2010.

You know those times when you wish you could think of something really funny or interesting to say, but just can't?... Yep, this is one of those times.

Attach legs to Sweet Potato and order it to crawl into TSS' waiting arms

TSS, you're in the potato rotation because you and armlx have taken the position that just because I disagree with some half-ass plan, that makes me scum, and I don't like when players try to bully the town.

Technically, this game could be played with only players passing potatoes. The extra discussion could be helpful, or hindering, depending on which way you see the game being played.

Interesting, isn't it?

I've already said that the potato passing gives us more information than fakevoting, so be careful. You don't want people to brand you scum just for not following the hivemind!

@Kuribo, i agree with you on this one and that will probly make me take flak to.

We have to keep the potato
moving around to who we think is scummy. I know I'm town so why the hell would I want to hold onto the potato and die when I could throw it to someone who I think is scummy. If the potato
keep in rotation it will 1] allow us to try and hit scum with them and 2] figure out the triggering methods of the individual potato

that is REALLY poor logic. I mean, first off, a majority consensus means f all here. Even your buddy TSS isnt backing you here, so if you really want to prove your bs, i'd love to see you put your money where mouth is. Oh, but look! As soon as you get a whiff of that potato, you're tossing it away again!
