Because a universal backup can only grab same alignment roles, and there are provable town aligned roles in this game (friendly neighbor, normal neighbor) - Universal backup is, at minimum, a self-clearing role. Beyond that, it can grab powerful town roles like full watcher

I don't really know what more we can do to assume this other than lynch by occam's razor. i.e. always lynch the most scumread player over, say, some weird play where we lynch an associate first or something like that. Which I'm totally down with. We should be lynching the most scummy player.

But then again if Nero hasn't taken over a role yet, I suppose there could be some merit to lynching the scummiest PR claim? Which I would still regard as LUV, because I'm assuming Elsa is going to get us a scum lynch today when she spills the beans.

Nero should have inherited MariaR's role when she died, as explained on the UB page

Here is exactly what a UB does:

Normal Guidelines

Universal Backup (if self-aware) is considered Normal on mafiascum.net. A Universal Backup can be of any alignment, but it should only activate upon the first death of a power role of their own alignment. A power role in this case is any role that is not Vanilla (so not a Vanilla Townie or a Mafia Goon). Universal Backups inherit any and all modifiers, including the remaining shots of an X-Shot role.

I could see some potential for neighbor not being an inheritable role by creature;s rules, but at the same time that seems like it would make UB even stronger if town, and thus town power would be even stronger.

Which is why I was mostly curious about the Watcher and assumed the mafia had a Ninja to counteract it. But Wake saw the kill, so unless the ninja is like 1-2 shot, it's a weird dynamic, yeah.
