Monty Python's Mafia Circus Game Over

Post Post #0 (isolation #0) » Tue Jul 01, 2008 7:44 am

IT'S

Monty Python's Mafia Circus

There is an evil afoot on the set of the latest Monty Python filiming. Someone has been coming in a killing off the other characters. It seems a group of evil characters is vying for more time infront of the camera. Why just last night the entire cast of Salad Days was massacredand it was even caught on film. You have to do something to stop the slaughter and save the characters that are left. You've decided not to take this lying down. You've unionized and enlisted the help of the Colonel.
Image
At the end of each game day the Colonel will remove whatever player you have deemed as being "far too silly." Such silly characters will be kicked out of the union and forced to work on children's television. Once the threats to your characters union have been eliminated you may all go back to starring in sketches with no punch line.
Townie Win Condition wrote:You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

General Game Rules:

The Rules (borrowed from vollkan, JordanA24, Wizardcat & Stoofer with some alterations):
1: This is a game, have fun.
2: Please bold your votes. For example,
Vote: RandomPerson
. Votes that are not bolded will not be counted.
3: If you wish to change your vote, bold an unvote before casting your new vote. For example,
Unvote, Vote: ScummyPerson
. If you do not unvote in this format, your vote will not be counted.
4: Lynching will require a majority of the votes. Once a lynch is decided, the decision is final. Feel free to continue posting until the thread is locked, but unvoting before I check the thread will not prevent the player from being lynched.
5: You may
Vote: No Lynch
to decide to not lynch someone on a given day. No-lynching requires 50% or more of the votes, thus on days with an even number of players it will take one less vote to No Lynch than to lynch.
6: If you get lynched or killed, you are dead. A single “Bah” post with NO other content is allowed.
7: Any questions, concerns, desires for me to prod, whatever PM me for best results.
8: Never quote anything that I PM to you, unless express permission is granted. This will result in a modkill.
9: Treat this game as a commitment and be considerate of me and your fellow players.
10: No small or invisible text, editing of your posts, codes, etc.
11: Do not discuss this game outside the thread at any time, except if and when your role specifically allows you to do so.
12: You must confirm your role to me by PM.
13: If you do not post for 3 days without notifying me that you will be away, you will be prodded. Not posting within 48 hours of the prod or getting prodded more than 3 times may result in replacement.
14: Each day will have an automatic deadline of 3*(number of players) days limited to the range of 35 to 14 days. I may extend it in very special circumstances.
15: If a majority is not reached by deadline, the person with the highest number of votes
as long as it is more than one
will be lynched. In the case of a tie, the first person to reach that number of votes will be lynched. The person who would be lynched if deadline were to reach with no changes will be indicated in votecounts with
red font
.
16:
Blue
is my color. Don't use it.
17: I am usually not around over weekends. If something should come up over this time please be patient. I will alter deadlines in favor of extension should they be scheduled to fall on a weekend.
18:The Mod is not God. He/She may make mistakes. Please point out any mistakes and they will be corrected where possible. Sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed, and these will stand as final, to be commeserated over after the game.
19. This ruleset may be incomplete. If you spot an obvious loophole, don't be a jerk - PM me and point it out. If the Mod discovers an oversight, or feels a player is doing something that, while technically within the rules, is against the spirit of the game, the Mod may add to these rules and inform/warn the players affected as appropriate.
20. If for some reason I should disappear of the face of the Earth, Dead Rikimaru is your back-up mod. Contact him in the event of my departure (and maybe the authorities).

Game Specific Rules:

1: In each of your role PMs I have included a video link. You may include this (or a false) video link in the event of a role claim without this being considered Mod Quoting.

We are still waiting on a confirmation or two. I will allow a couple hours until I get the game officially underway. In the meantime enjoy the praises extolled unto

It's sad that even with the wonders of the Internet some of the best Monty Python sketches are still not freely available for the unwashed masses to view. One of my favorite sketches is Piston Engine, yet only a 21 second clip is widely available online. Can you help a sad mod find the rest of this magnificant sketch?

killa seven replaces Rogue Shenanigans effective immediately.

Also a general quesiton. I've cut back on the flavor since the game was rather slow out of the gate I figured you didn't need any more distractions from me. Please let me know if this is helpful/disappointing. Thanks

While Jordan remains the consensus for most silly character, you don't quite know if he's broken the looney thresholdjust yet. In fact no one even seems to notice him as of late, as you all pretend to be Australian professors calling random people Bruce.

Does the level of participation make one believe that people are losing interest in Monty Python?

As soon as killa seven casts his vote you hear the rhythmic clanking of metal. It's not a mechanical sound similar to gears dragging a 16 ton weight into the air, although you may hear that in the distance. It's much more like someone clad in Medieval armor sprinting from a lynch mob. When you notice Darla's absence that quickly explains the audio input. I don't really know how everyone else failed to notice but she had been wearing chain mail, guantlets and a sallet for the entire day. It was quite obvious that she was a
French Taunter
as she claimed to be.

Final Day 1 Vote Count:

After searching the sest for a few minutes the colonel found Darla hiding behind a giant robot penguin.
the colonel wrote:Now, Darla come on out, I just need to revoke your union membership. That's right, just stand on that X over there and I'll be over to get it.
Once Darla was positioned on the "X" sloppily painted on the floor the colonel pulled the lever dropping the 16 ton weight. Blood seeps from below its base, and you hear that distant wratcheting of the gears. The flattend mess of blood, tissue and metal that used to be Darla sticks to the bottom of the weight. The colonel searches for some time, but cannot find her union card.
the colonel wrote:Now, she must not be part of the union. Now, I guess she's one of those Evil Egocentrict characters.
DarlaBlueEyes

the colonel wrote:Now, everyone better run along. Now, you should all perform your night actions promptly because of the...the..ah game mechanics, yeah that's what we'll call them complicated game mechanics. All right get along then, ten, nine, eight and all that.

After you realize he is not in his trailer, most of you go out searching for him. Eventually you find a grizzly site on one of the lesser used sets. Luigi Gangsta has been slain and a circle of bodies lay around him. Strangley enough it seems that Luigi was the only one to have met foul play. The rest of the victims look to have died by their own hand. They must have been part of the Suicide Squad, which would make our victim Luigi Gangsta actually Brian. Upon inspection of his body you find his Union ID, and a book titled "Convincing People to Leave a Cult For Dummies." Luigi Gangsta, Brian the Cult Unrecruiter is dead.

As sad as it was to lose part of the Union you are all a bit happy that the carnage of last night was not matched where the entire cast of Salad Days was massacred. However, when chatting about this you notice something the matter with imaginality. He wasn't moving one bit. The corks hanging from his had were amazingly still. At first you assumed it was because the bastard had come in and taken the comfy chair, but it was a bit odd that he would be tied to it. His body is covered with bruises. It appears he was poked to death with soft cushions during the night (which may explain what took so long). You also notice that his Union ID has been mocking stapled to his forehead. Riffling through his pockets you find his work ID from the University of Walowaloo. It say he was a professor of criminalogy. imaginality, Bruce the Cop is dead.

As the final vote is cast the lynch mob begins forming around Iron Man, you hear ratcheting gears in the distance. In a futile attempt to change his fate he deleriously screems over and over "And now for something completely different! And now for something completely different!" But there is no new scene to cut to. While he continues to scream, you haul his flailing tuxedo over to the blood stained X on the floor. He won't stay down but you pin his arms and legs with his head just over the stain that used to be Darla.
the colonel wrote:Now, this man is behaving far too silly. Now, he's screaming like a madman and crying like a baby. Now, let's get on with this ten, nine eight and all that.
Iron Man almost gets out one last line as the 16 ton weight drops on his head: "And now for something comp!" His blood splashes up on your arms, chest and faces. You pull his now useless union card out of his breast pocket.

Iron Man, The Announcer, Night Target Negater and a member of the Character's Union has been lynched.

Final Day 2 Vote Count:

It's Intermission

Since I'm LA over weekends. Night deadline will be for Monday. I'm not sure exactly when Monday I'll get to opening up the game (no earlier than 9:00AM PST), but the earlier you get your actions in the better chance you have of them actually counting

It was a cold night last night. The wind howled, and you swore you heard someone screaming along with it. It sounded like they were saying "Yes it is!" repeatedly in a blood curdling tone. When you arrive on the set you're pretty sure you found the source of the screams. A man in a suit is splayed out on the floor tied to a dish rack. His union card is stapled to his forehead with the words "No it isn't" scrawled across. You check his breastpocket and find a business card that indicates he was Mr. Vibrating the Argument Specialist. For some reason in this game he was a she going by the name of Mirth, kind of silly isn't it?

Mirth, Mr. Vibrating a Self-Target Role Blocker and part of the Characters Union is dead.

You glance over the rest of the cast and don't seem to find anyone else unaccounted for.

The man in black sees the final vote cast, and tries to slip out the back door. You hear the familiar ratcheting of gears in the back of the warehouse. Once you all notice chenhsi trying to slip away, he picks up the pace his armor clinking with each stride. He didn't chose the best path however. As he strode across bloodied X on the floor, the colonel called out:
the colonel wrote:Now, drop the weight. Come on get on with hit.
The weight came down shortening chenhsi from a 6 foot knight to fraction of an inch spot on the ground. With the gears clinking loudly, the weight is lifted off of the floor to an unexpected surprise. Instead of one blood-stained black spot, there are three bright red splotches, they almost look like Cardinals.
the colonel wrote: I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition.
However, rifliing through one of the three splotches pockets' you notice an ID for a one Cardinal Fang, it also indicates that he was a member of the subversive Evil Egocentric Characters.

chenshi, The Spanish Inquisition Unexpected Goon and member of the Evil Egocentric Characters has been lynched.

You all starting migrating back towards the warehouse set. Not everyone is there but there are a few stragglers due to the early morning rise. A scream from the back of the room startles you:
Oh my! Someone has taken the comfy chair again. I really wanted to sit in that. It's so comfortable. Bastards!
It dawns on you what that means. Why would the comfy chair be used again if the Spanish Inquisition were dead? Anyway you all begin your search for the comfy chair, it is really comfortable after all.

You search high and low, to and fro and finally you see it sitting out in the parking lat facing the exit. From the pointy sallet sticking out of the top of the chair you realize someone must be sitting in it, by why out in the parking lot? Coming closer you notice rope tied around the chair. It is clearly SpyreX in his suit of armor. He looks peaceful but does not respond to your voice or being slapped in the face with a large herring. I guess he was a French Taunter too. You check his pockets and sure enough he has his Union ID on him.

SpyreX, French Tuanter, Role Attractor and member of the Character's Union has sat to death in the comfy chair.

You take a roll call back in the warehouse after carrying back the comfy chair. Everyone else seems to be alive.

The man with the long white beard and the robe looks quite calm as the final vote is cast. He says nothing an walks over to the blood splotched X on the floor. As the weight comes down it casually bounces off of his head doing no damage.

His defiant look has you perplexed. Finally the colonel comes up with a solution.
the colonel wrote:Well, if none of us continue bolstering your existance, you will cease to trancsend this universal plane and fail to maintain your presence in this earthly realm thus vanishing you from our reality and be permenantly banished to an alternate multiverse which persists in worhiping the hand of ephemeral spirits spending their days floating on clouds and dining in the cosmos while exerting their wrath on the poor subjects who continue making sacrifices blindly excepting the fate dictated to each and every inhabitant.

You, well most of you, again wake from your slumber. You all slept quite well considering you offed God the day before. However, arriving at the set you immediately notice an odd little man dressed in rags slumped on the floor in the center of the warehouse. He has unkempt hair, gnarly teeth and a bulgy eye. Must be TheSweatpantsNinja, he appears to have been impaled on a longsword, or maybe a scimitar. And it's quite obvious to you now that he was in fact The Bridgekeeper. He doesn't have any pockets, and so you have trouble finding his Character's Union membership card. Some genius in the back suggest checking his trousers cause that's where he keeps his stash when he ain't got any pockets. After an arguably unenjoyable feel up of the corpse's nether region you come to the conclusion that he was not a part of the union. Not so obviously then TheSweatpantsNinja, The BridgeKeeper-Question Asker and member of the Evil Egocentric Characters was slain Night 4.

While someone was feeling up The Bridgekeeper's corpse, one of you noticed that the comfy chair had again gone missing. Since it is such a comfortable chair you set off to find it, even though it has a penchant for killing people in the knight. This time you go straight to the parking lot where you spot it next to a milk truck. Again a fellow in an medieval armor appears to be sitting in it. It's elvis_knits, she's been tied to the comfy chair and succumbed to it's deadly nepenthe. From her outfit she must have been Sir Lancelot as she claimed. You seach her pockets and you find a note indicating a damsel in distress due to an impending wedding. It has a hole in the center that is stained with blood. elvis_knits Sir Lancelot-Night Killer was non-Union and has been killed by the comfy chair.

Now, you listen to him because he's certainly a serious fellow, he has pants afterall and he's in them. All right carry on ten, nine, eight and all that.

sorry to leave you hanging, been a busy day

the colonel wrote: Now, it seems this plaid clad fellow has lost the will to live. Now, that's rather silly isn't it. Allright on the X with you then ten, nine, eight and all that.
Lord Gurgi calmly walks over to the crimson stained X on the floor. You hear the now familiar gears ratcheting in the background. As Gurgi sits on down on the floor he pouts "I just wanted to be a lumberjack."

The weight slams down liquifying and splattering his red plaid shirt across the spectators. You check his pockets for his Union Identification card but all you can find are a novella about rugged gay woodsman frolicking about the forests of British Columbia, and a pamphlet entitled "How to Kill People."

Lord Gurgi -
The Lumberjack,
Serial Killer
has been lynched.

Final Day 5 Vote Count:

Lord Gurgi
(4) imaginality, farside22, strappado, Lord Gurgi

Not Voting: killa seven, The Internet, Muerrto, Pokerface

Get you're night actions to me in a timely manner Night deadline will be Monday afternoon unless I state otherwise in thread.

You didn't sleep well last night. There was an awful racket coming from the set. It sounded like someone beating the crap out of a toaster oven with a dish rack or something slightly similar. When the colonel calls you out of bed you oblige. Hopefully this day will be as promising as the last. As usual you start out the day with a hunt for corpses. However, this time you only find a pile of machine parts strewn about. There are the remnants of a power cord hanging from the wall socket.
Image
You flip over the warning are surprised to see a Union Identification card. It reads:
The Internet, Machine That Goes Bing-Doctor member of the Character's Union.
Strangely enough, or perhaps not strange at all, The Internet was a machine, important however is the past tense. He has been smashed with a dish rack in the night.

the colonel wrote:Now, the six of you remaining better figure out what's going on here. Now, we've still got a sketch to film. So alright then hurry up ten, nine, eight and all that.
With six alive it takes four to lynch or three to no lynch.

Deadline is 18 days from this post.

And so the final vote was cast for this sixth day. Much unlike the day before hardly any time had been spent discussing the victim. Death will be pleased, at least he won't have to listen to those bloody Americans and their incescent conversations.

Vote Count:

Muerrto
(4) PokerFace, imaginality, farside22, strappado

Pokerface
(1) Muerrto
Note voting:
killa seven

Muerrto didn't seem too surprised at the outcome. He had clearly pointed out how much PokerFace sucked, but that was to no avail. He was carried, kicking and screaming over the the blood caked X that was barely visible from the layers of gore.
the colonel wrote:Now, let's get on with this then. Shut up and take your medicine already ten, nine, eight and all that.
The weight came soaring down. You heard one final cry from Muerrto "I'm invicible!!!" Apparently he wasn't. The one armed knight has been squashed. You approach the flattened mess that looks much like a giant chocolate dipped cherry that somebody stepped on. As you figured there is no Union ID.
Muerrto, Black Knight-Flesh Wound Survivor was a member of the
Evil Egocentric Characters
. He is no more.

the colonel wrote:Now, I sense that all the silliness is gone from this set. Now, it seems we have a sketch to film. Now, who do we have left let's see A Bishop, A Hungarian Tourist, a Patsy, a Sargeant, and a Wedding Partywhy that's not silly at all. Let's get going then ten, nine, eight and all that.
All threats to the Character's Union have been effectively dealt with, they have won.

The Set Up:

Bridge Keeper (Asks anyone three questions, two must be answered truthfully)
Spanish Inquisition (Watcher immune)
French Taunter (Draws night action of his target, forced use)
*any ability can be used in conjunction with NK.

-Town-

Bruce (Cop with PR by which he must call everyone Bruce)
Machine That Goes Ping (Doctor)
The Bishop (Role name watcher)
God (Unique target roleblocker)
French Taunter (Draws night action of his target, forced use)
Brian (Cult unrecruiter)
Sargeant (Fruit kill immune, can make night target immune to specific type of fruit kill, has one-shot “tiger” daykill)
Mr. Vibrating the Argument Specialist (Roleblocks his target but only if his target aims at him)
Wedding Party (Hider, only dies when targeting actively killing roll, dies with target, survives if target survives)
Announcer (Forces different choice of night action)
Hungarian Tourist (Can ask anyone a single question which the mod will filter)
Patsy (Allows one player to track another, he determines both)

-Third Party-

Sir Lancelot ("Vig", wins if he night kills the Wedding Party, if Wedding Party is NK'd has to kill the killer, if this is impossible becomes survivor if SK is alive or SK if SK is daed)
Lumberjack (Serial Killer, survives two night kill attempts)

-Role Resolution Order-

God Roleblocker
Announcer Interruption
Argument Roleblocker
Taunters
All other roles
All night kills

-Role PMs-

Black Knight:
You are the Black Knight a member of the Evil Egocentric Characters with DarlaBlueEyes, TheSweatpantsNinja, and chenhsi. Each night you may talk amongst yourselves and submit a kill as a group. Please indicate who you wish to perform the kill. If noone is indicated I will choose a random member of your team.

You are also a fierce fighter that will continue on no matter how much you have been injured. Because of this you can survive two night kill attempts without being killed. A third attempt will be fatal. However, since the NK attemps sever your limbs, you will no longer be able to perform a NK yourself after you have been targeted.

You win when the Evil Egocentric Characters control the game or nothing can prevent the same.

You may chat amongst your partners pre-game and at night here

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: after the second NK attempt he will not be able to perform a kill since he has no arms, he will be notified if when the attempts occur.

Bridge Keeper:
You are the Bridge Keeper a member of the Evil Egocentric Characters with DarlaBlueEyes, Bogre, and chenhsi. Each night you may talk amongst yourselves and submit a kill as a group. Please indicate who you wish to perform the kill. If noone is indicated I will choose a random member of your team.

You also control the Bridge of Death. Each night you may ask any player in the game three questions. These questions must be unique (for example you cannot ask what is your alignment and what alignment are you) and not force the answer to break any game rules (for example quoting their role PM). They must answers all of your questions. However, your bridge has been faulty recently and has been not been noticing some incorrect answers. As such, not all answers to your questions must be truthful. However, if any lies are detected your target will be cast into the Gorge of Eternal Peril.

You win when the Evil Egocentric Characters control the game or nothing can prevent the same.

You may chat amongst your partners pre-game and at night here

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: The questioned player must answer at least two of the three questions truthfully, but they will not be told of this. The PM to the Bridge Keeper's target should read with the line: "The Bridge Keeper will only tolerate so many lies before he tosses you into the Eternal Pit of Peril - choose your answers carefully".

The Spanish Inquisition:
You are the Spanish Inquisition a member of the Evil Egocentric Characters with DarlaBlueEyes, TheSweatpantsNinja, and Bogre. Each night you may talk amongst yourselves and submit a kill as a group. Please indicate who you wish to perform the kill. If noone is indicated I will choose a random member of your team.

Also since noone expects the Spanish Inquisition, you can never be ambushed at the site of a crime. You are thus immune to watcher roles. However, since you always take the bus to hunt your victims you may be tracked.

You win when the Evil Egocentric Characters control the game or nothing can prevent the same.

You may chat amongst your partners pre-game and at night here

You can find the game thread here
Mod Note: All mafia kills will involve Spanish Inquisition torturing. This should be told to the mafia either in their chat thread or role PM.

French Taunter:
You are a French Taunter a member of the Evil Egocentric Characters with TheSweatpantsNinja, Bogre, and chenhsi. Each night you may talk amongst yourselves and submit a kill as a group. Please indicate who you wish to perform the kill. If noone is indicated I will choose a random member of your team.

You are also a world class taunter. You can annoy anyone to the point that they must force action against you. Each night you will submit a player name and that player will be forced into targeting you. You MUST do this every night in order to feed your addiction to being a nuisance to others. Especially silly English Knights.

You win when the Evil Egocentric Characters control the game or nothing can prevent the same.

You may chat amongst your partners pre-game and at night here

You can find the game thread here

Bruce:
You are Bruce a professor of philosophy at the University of Walowaloo. In order to prevent confusion, you call everyone you meet Bruce. Thus you have a post restriction. You cannot call anyone in the game any proper name other than Bruce. This applies to Quote tags as well as votes and FoS’s etc. Each day you will be allowed three “slips” after that you will be mod-killed. If you intentionally attempt to thwart you post restriction (ie quote a player and simply post vote: Bruce) you will be mod-killed on the spot. You may PM me or the co-mod if you have any posts that you would like to verify are within the limits of the rules before posting (please be careful I hate modkills). When you vote, while it will look like you are voting for noone in particular, you may PM myself and/or the co-mod with your actual vote and this WILL be counted towards a lynch.

Also, not only are you a professor of philosophy, but you specialize in the criminal mind. Because of this you may investigate a player each night and I will tell you whether or not they are a threat to the town.

You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod Note: Sane Cop

Machine that Goes Bing:
You are the Machine that Goes Bing. Through the advances of modern medicine you have the ability to save lives. Each night PM me the name of a player you would like to aid and they will be safe should any type of “accident” occur.

You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod Note: Simply a Doc

The Bishop:
You are the Bishop. You have a knack for arriving at the scene of a crime just after the nick of time. While you may never stop the crime you may obtain a glimpse of the perpetrators. Each night PM the name of someone you would like to watch and you may obtain some useful information as to who was in their vicinity during the night.

You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: Works as a watcher that receives results via role name.

God:
You are God. You are sick and tired of everyone groveling whenever you are in their presence. Each night you may target someone, and that player will abandon any night actions they were intending to carry out because they will be too busy groveling to you. By morning you will finally have convinced them to stop groveling, meaning that they will not abandon night actions if you target them again.

You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: Roleblocker that is only effective once on each target

French Taunter:
You are a French Taunter. You are a world class taunter, and can annoy anyone to the point that they must force action against you. Each night you will submit a player name and that player will be forced into targeting you. You MUST do this every night in order to feed your addiction to being a nuisance to others. Especially silly English Knights.

You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: Role attractor

Brian:
You are Brian. A cult has been following you around insisting you are the messiah. You are doing everything you can to avoid them, but this simply isn’t working. So you are now attempting to attack with reason. Each night you may target someone and if that person is a member of the cult, they will be unrecruited.

You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: Since there is no cult this essentially does nothing but cause targeting info

Sargeant:
You are the Sargeant. You are an expert at defending yourself from the dangers of fresh fruits. As such you are immune to any attack from a perpetrator armed with fruit. In addition you are a master instructor. Each night phase you may PM me the name of a player, and tell me which fruit you wish to train against (example: train PlayerA against apples), for the remainder of the game they will be immune from attacks using that fruit. In addition you also have a daykill. At any point in the game you may type
Release the tiger
and a player will be killed (note it must be bolded). Since the tigers can be a bit unpredictable, you don’t quite know who they’ll target but the tiger should strike a player that you perceive as a threat.

You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod notes: The fruit kill immunity is a red herring as noone in the game kills by fruit. The player receiving immunity will be notified by PM. The Tiger daykill will cause the last person the Sargeant voted for to be killed by the tigers. He will not be told this.

Mr. Vibrating:
You are Mr. Vibrating the Argument Specialist. You are a professional arguer, and can thusly envelope anyone within earshot in an argument. Each night PM me the name of a player you wish to target, if said player targets you with his night action it will have no effect.

You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod notes: Simply a roleblocker that only blocks if his target targets him.

Wedding Party:
You are the Wedding Party. Today is a joyous celebration as two local lovebirds tie the knot and secure the joining of huge tracts of land. However, an overzealous knight looks to slaughter your party in order to free the damsel from her arranged marriage. Since the knight is looking for you, you take it upon yourself to hide. Each night tell me whose company you would like to keep as long as it is not the knight, and the knight does not come looking for you there you should be safe. Oh and you might not want to use your real name as the knight will be looking for you. Sir Robin might make a fitting choice for your ability.

You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: Hider that dies if he targets a
successful
killing role (ie. Lancelot, Lumberjack, Mafia NK'er). Dies along with target if they are successfullly NK’d, survives if target survives.

Announcer:
You are the Announcer. It is your job to segway between sketches in a timely manner. Sometimes sketches go on too long or in the wrong direction due to overzealous characters. Each night you may target a player and, if he has made a night choice, he will have to redirect it to another player.

You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: Forces target to resubmit a unique night choice. Note that a player submitting no choice will not be forced to make one, and likewise a player making a night choice targeted by the Announcer cannot then choose not to target.

Hungarian Tourist:
You are the Hungarian Tourist. You are from out of town and simply wish to find a Tobaccanist so that you can purchase cigarettes and a book of matches. Each night you may send me a question to ask any other player in the game. I will translate it through your Hungarian Phrasebook and send back the reply.

You win if you purchase cigarettes and a book of matches from the Tobaccanist or when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: When “translating” the Hungarian Tourist’s question simply use outlandish phrases as in the original sketch. The return reply to the player will be a phrase insulting the player or his family translated into Hungarian via free internet program. The purpose of this role is to simply amuse the mod, and provide the player a way to demonstrate his role name claim. He will never purchase anything from a Tobaccanist.

Patsy:
You are Patsy, humble page boy to King Arthur. You are equipped with a coconut that allows you to transport a single person over large distances each night. Using your ability you can grant another player the power to track a second target. Your request should be formatted as “I want PlayerA to track PlayerB.” Note that you cannot be either the tracker or the target of tracking for your night action.

You win when all threats to the Characters Union have been eliminated.

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: Patsy will receive no tracking results, player receiving results will get actual name and target, if roleblocked will get simply "you saw nothing". PM should always be separate from other night PMs and be titled "Night X Tracking Results.

Sir Lancelot:
You are Sir Lancelot. Your loyal servant Concorde has just had an arrow pierce his chest and you must avenge his death…er mortal wounding…er grave injury. The arrow had a note attached to it sent by a damsel in distress that is being forced into an arranged marriage. You must thwart the wedding by killing the guests of the wedding party. Each night you may target a player to be killed in order to reach your goal.

You win when you have personally night killed the Wedding Party.

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: He is essentially a lyncher that must night kill instead of lynching. If Wedding Party is NK'd has to kill the killer, if this is impossible becomes survivor if SK is alive or SK if SK is daed.

The Lumberjack:
You are the Lumberjack. You are sick and tired of cutting hair, you just want to leap from tree to tree along the mighty rivers of British Columbia. But no one wants you to do that. They all just want you to be a barber. So you must kill them. You must kill them all. You are a serial killer, and since you are so rugged you can survive two night kill attempts.

You win when you are the only player alive.

You can find the game thread here
Mod note: He should be informed as his NK protections are used.

Farside, PokerFace pretty much answered it. You actually would have died twice in this game if it wasn't for The Internet. He made quite a few protects in addition Azimuth made a save by blocking Gurgi, and gurgi indirectly didn't kill when he targeted the hiding Farside.

I was quite amazed how easily town won this game. I think it was a combination of Doc skills (arguably luck) and a poor performance from the scum team. Darla kind of just hit bad luck choosing to fake a PR with the only role in the game that couldn't, and chenhsi was just bad. Meurrto played a very nice day game, but I think scum lost this one partailly in the night phase (why did you guys leave the claimed investigative roles alive?) and partially from getting no help from the third party killers.

I'm working on the night actions. They're a bit complicated so that could take some time.

Just had time for a few thoughts.

Overall this game was a lot of fun to run. I didn't really expect the night actions to interweave so effectively but they did...a lot.

I also didn't expect a town blow out. I was very much worried about a scum blow out given the three anit-town kills per night. But scum were lucky to get two. That's mainly why I had such distributed power. Granted town had a cop, a watcher and a tracker but they were all somewhat handicaped. I was actually a bit happy that mafia helped "balance" the game night 1 taking out the cop. Though I was very sad to see imagiBruce go, that role was fun. I think the town dominance was just a combination of poor scum play and Doc pwnage. I was amazed when chenhsi claimed his partner's role, even more amazed that Muerrto and TSPN kept their cool and didn't explode on the spot. Also coming into this game I always saw Docs as rather weak. But it became pretty clear that when used correctly (or maybe getting crazy lucky) they are very powerful. Definitely a learning experience as previously I'd just "throw in" a Doc for a little bit of town love.

I was also very happy that certain players got certain roles. PokerFace being the Hungarin Tourist was a lot of fun. The role was designed almost entirely to entertain the mod through the course of the game, and he did a great job if it. He was constantly asking me questions about how to obtain his cigarettes, the whole time not wanting to admit they were a red herring (even though he started out at 85% likelihood). Really surprised he didn't just drop the cig hunt at the end given how handily the town was winning. I'll get the translations up later today. I was also glad imaginality got Bruce. He (and the town actually) did a really good job with the post restriction. It was almost like he didn't have one. And I have to add I was really surprised that two scum faked a post restriction and I got multiple PM's from people complaining they didn't get one. I was also glad farside22 and elvis got the Wedding Party/Sir Lancelot roles. The back and forth was a lot of fun to watch. I was also glad elvis killed Luigi night 1. Not only did she get rid of a lurker, she released the cult red herring. The Brian role was more designed to make said player paranoid and the town to jump on them for talking about cults all the time.

I do wish the game had gotten into a tighter ending. I had specifically designed a few roles that were almost useless at the start but could be intriuging at LyLo or closer. Unfortunately most of them got killed off early and end game never really came. Iron Man's role was designed with the idea that he could still play for a draw even if outnumbered going into the night. He could theoretically cause mafia to have to kill their own partners. Mirth's role was rather useless but could be very interesting with only a single killing role left alive as she could act as a self protecting Doc if she guessed right. I also though Azimuth's roleblocking would be interesting to see coming as he ran out of people to block. I was curious to see if he would bluff a normal roleblocker at end game to force the scum into a different play. Also imagJordan's tiger kill was designed for instances with an "extra" townie at LyLo. I was curious if he'd try to use it in such a situation.

Anyway thanks a lot for the great game everyone, especially the speedy replacements. I'm glad most of you had fun.

Also figured I'd post the fake claim's I gave to mafia:
-The following roles are certaintly not in the game:
King Arthur
The Tobaccanist
Mr Creosote
Hank the Mosquito Hunter
I was surprised the mafia weren't laughing at PF during the night given they knew he could never get his cigarettes.

Thanks a lot for the Nom.

Your role would have been revealed as Cigarette Hunter.

I don't know why, but the scum changed their mind last minute on Night 1. I was really surprised when I got the PM because it contradicted with the Quick Topic thread.

Thanks a lot for playing. You were one of the key players that kept the game moving at a good pace, and you really did a nice job scum hunting (though as you said you dropped a lot of your good leads in favor of nicotine  ). I was really surprised Gurgi wasn't lynched after you pulled out the Albatross quotes from Your Are What You Eat.

Mirth thanks for pointing out the SpyreX targeting. I checked my logs and it was lost in translation, not a mistake on night action processing.

Glad you enjoyed yourself, sorry you died so early :(

I forgot about the original Englsih phrases that I was translating into Hungarian (don't speak it if that wasn't obvious).

a anya birtokol elefántszer bokák:
Your mother has elephantine ankles

a nővér csípődobást hajt végre volna több látogató mint a Eiffel Torony:
Your sister's buttocks have more visitors than the Eiffel Tower

a apa bugyi van rózsaszín és fényes:
Your father's panties are pink and shiny

A szag között -a lábak vonz a szomszédság kutyák:
The odor emitted from between your legs attracts the neighborhood dogs

a anya van több laza mint egy öt év old's fog:
Your mother is looser than a five year old's tooth

Been waiting for that to come out.
