I've addressed this in my back and forth with CKD, please refer to those posts.vollkan wrote:Why the concern, shaft.ed?
You say the unvote is "a bit strange", but could you flesh out how that oddness translates into scumminess?

@ shaft.ed would you call my play in this game conservative? It is the most recent game to end where I was town.-

Utterly opportunistic. This has to be a deliberate attempt to take that out of context, since I don't see how a townie who read the full post of Jitsu's couldn't understand his intention. Furthermore, he bolds some words in an attempt to distract from the larger picture.
I agree with Adel that vollkan looks likes he's trying to set up the Jitsu lynch. However, I'm not sure he would be if shaft.ed isn't scum, so I prefer this wagon.SEND THE VECTOIDS-

I see Vollkan's attack as being more opportunistic than shaft.ed's. That post seems more like scum distancing to me than a genuine shaft.ed-scum attacking a townie. Shaft.ed's post got a little bit of attention on Jitsu, while Vollkan's seems like a real push.Simenon wrote:shaft.ed wrote:

Fwiw, I don't think it's uncommon for Adel to play like this on day one. I certainly haven't ever seen her feel the need to press some huge gambit straight out the gate. At least, not when she's town.-

Simenon, you can't tell me that doesn't look like an unconcious slip up. Jitsu's never been scum, I think it warrants pressure.-

Adel you replaced in halfway through the game, that's not comparable. My point is that the protown Adel I have always played with is a pot stirrer on D1, more so than the scum Adel I have played with.Adel wrote:@ shaft.ed would you call my play in this game conservative? I think you need a new wagon shaft.ed, I don't think the Jitsu one is going anywhere. There is plenty of room up here though. Wanna wagon Vollkan with me for a while?-

I will not be voting yet, because I want to see which of these wagons I like better. Shaft.ed's can be easily explained away, but Vollkan's is just a feel from Adel (which I don't quite get myself).
I think Shaft.ed has been bothering me more than Vollkan so far...

You're using words prescriptive of the outcome. Saying my post "does not seem sincere" is no different to saying "it seems scummy", which is not an explanation of what you find scummy or anything; it's simply labelling it scummy but using a slightly more specific word.Adel wrote:unvote cicero, vote vollkan
223 does not seem sincere to me. I suspect he thinks that he will be able to get a mislynch on Jitsu more easily than the other players in this game.
Thus, it's mere assertion, and the fact that you presume scummy motivations (bringing down a weak link) is conspiracy.
Were my criticisms of Jitsu invalid? If not, why was it wrong of me to make them? It's easy to spin somebody criticising another into them "setting up a lynch", but it's ultimately just a conspiracy.Simenon wrote: I agree with Adel that vollkan looks likes he's trying to set up the Jitsu lynch. I exploited an opening when I voted for you. vollkan spotted an opening through which he could attack Jitsu.
It's uncommon terminology, but it makes sense.

If it's an unconcious slip up the context is irrelevant.Simenon wrote:

To me it's much more taking advantage of a situation to wrongly benefit yourself at another's expense. But consulting the dictionary I see that's not always the case. I've still never seen it used in such a context.

I commonly hear it in meatspace referring to "an opening to a solution". I don't think it is a valid scummy slip.shaft.ed wrote:I guess I understand a different meaning of the word exploit than you. The context determines whether it can be judged a slip up or not.shaft.ed wrote:

It frequently is used to mean "to seize a chance."
