following his link, it appears to be a table top designed for gaming, felt padded etc. I just don't know what utility that actually provides over a normal table.
I just want a gaming table with slightly raised edges so dice will never roll off

Well, they also have raised edges, so dice never fall off. Also I have played on some tables where dice just hit the table and go flying depending on the surface. So The felt helps absorb some of that impact. And they come with cup holders not he sides of the tables so you don't have drinks near the games.
It's all kind of frivolous stuff that the tables provide, but it's little frivolous things that are considered luxuries for gamers.

neoprene play surface, ability to put drinks at the table but not directly on the surface, portability (can bring it+chairs to other peoples houses without much difficulty)
right now when I have people over we play on coffee table which is roughly 36" X 36" or 1296 sqin which can fit about 4 people comfortably on some games but with the mid-sized topper we could nearly double that and get 2280 sqin which if we had 6 people attending would be the difference between everyone sitting at the table and touching or having room to relax your shoulders
i was playing a game of munchkin with 7 people sunday evening and there was literally not enough room for everyone to put their cards down towards the end of the game and it was super cramped
I keep my mouth shut about plenty of games that I don't enjoy. Munchkin is just objectively not good. I'm convinced that anyone that enjoys it would enjoy other games in a similar genre better if exposed to them.
even if we play something like blood rage, the board takes up 1/3rd of the space, not leaving much for the player cards, decks, and minis. most games take up some room. i played carcassonne and was running tiles off the edge, couldn't keep everything on the play surface, etc. another bonus with the game table is we can play poker
idk i just think it's a pretty good deal when a good standalone table could run twice as much easily and can't be put away
That's actually the less funny answer tbh. If you are playing something that requires more space than you have, go somewhere with space. A lot of places will have space for free or a small price(buy a coffee, a milk tea, a beer, ect.)
If anyone is looking for a sweet campaign-style game with a lot of replayability, the Arkham Horror LCG is exquisite. It's my favorite FFG Arkham game, and they have several. It's flavorful, it scratches my deckbuilding itch, as well as my co-op itch, and there are a bunch of different branches to all the campaigns(3 released campaigns so far, with a 4th coming soon).
jdodge1019: hasjghsalghsakljghs is from vermont
jdodge1019: vermont is made of liberal freaks and cows
jdodge1019: he's not a liberal
jdodge1019: thus he is a cow
I've only played through about a third of charterstone, but my experience so far is that it's ok, but ultimately a pretty generic and bland worker placement game that leans heavily into its legacy mechanics to keep it interesting at all.

how is this even a reasonable comparison? They're not even close to the same genre of entertainment.
That's like saying, "yeah, lasagna is definitely not as good as 8-ball pool"
