Disagree. Undertale is basically Earthbound with a vastly better soundtrack, 5% of the slow unskippable cutscenes, 30% of the slow tedious walking about, and 500% of the ability to connect to the player.
Gosh I couldn't disagree with a comment more
IMO
Earthbound>Undertale>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mother 3
Undertale is just more comparable to Mother 3 than Earthbound, and it's pretty much everything Mother 3 wanted to be but failed at.
Still, despite Earthbound being pretty much my most favorite game of all time, I think Undertale takes a solid second place in my heart.
This game is truly amazing despite how short it is. Really Undertale's greatest fault.

Spoiler:
Genocide spoilers in song cover/parody form
Really love this, probably would love it if even if I wasn't a Steven Universe fan. Too bad his singing isn't ... great? But good enough.
Also female vocal version which is worse and better in some ways

Yeah it is a little, but I don't think it's done so in a forceful way
I try not to base my liking of something on who it's supposed to be geared towards but I did pretty much avoided SU for a year because the types of people that were praising it seemed really awful. But then someone I really liked made fanart for it so I ~finally~ started watching it and just ended up binging 50 episodes in 2-3 days (The episodes are only 15 mins long)
Anyone who completely hates Adventure Time and/or shoujo/shounen anime would not like it at all though.
Sans has remained my fav character from the beginning. But I really love every character.
Well, except Jerry. FUCK that guy.
Watching Genocide being played through (My boyfriend did it. I'm just not good enough to beat it.) was more awful than watching a playthrough of Hatred. My heart will never be the same even if I do a million pacifist runs now. ;-;
Also I am likely going to be spending more time on the TVTropes page than the time it took me to beat the game.

^It is. Flowey
pretty much doesn't care that you "defeated" him because when his HP reached 0 he just reload his save from the beginning where he was full HP. He just wanted to give you a false sense of hope and then snatch it away.

heh, I tried so hard to get into Homestuck and I just couldn't.
Maybe it's just the way the story is presented or something, I don't know.
I do like the art style though.

So does anyone feel like absolute garbage after
genocide? I used the Genocide remover program and my game has an actual clean slate. But even if I play again it wont be the same. Also despite everything I think this not-completely Geno but almost geno phone call was the most heart breaking:

Yeah it's different with Steam
In post 397, Parama wrote:i don't feel like absolute garbage because i literally never killed anything in the game once, because i am not a murderer
I didn't either. I had my boyfriend do it on my savefile because
1) didn't know what would happen and that way we didn't need to buy 2 copies
2) I just could never git gud enough and my only knowledge of Geno was that it's RLY HARD (I died a lot on pacifist)
3) Watching it happen and then

The voices are pretty much perfect. I imagine Sans as having a slightly deep but not-serious voice. And lots of different voices seem to work for Papyrus. Initially I imagined a Skeletor voice but now that doesn't seem to fit as much in my head anymore.
Spoiler:
Toby knows his fandom too well
I honestly love how even though there is a ton of porn made for this game (As expected) They were all nice enough to follow Toby's suggestion to use a completely different tag when they post it online.
Also there needs to be more cute art of Alphys
Spoiler:
I'm so happy that people in other countries are playing this game and loving it. I hope the Japanese translation is good and the humor is done well for them. Since Japan is where the Mother series came from I feel like many of them would appreciate this game.

That's really the biggest drawback of let's plays and watching other people in general
People don't really check/look at everything you might (unless you're capable of badgering them to)
I check EVERYTHING in games
I even checked the first switch in the ruins and the yellow text next to it and everyone I've watched play walked right past them
Also every enemy I ever "fought" I used the "check" command first before proceeding and I noticed most people don't do that either :C

Well, I do love boxes
Thanks Esu!
Also
I have to say UT is the only game I've ever truly enjoyed Let's Play's of, at least the one's where the person is going in blind or mostly blind and doesn't have another person speaking over them telling them what to do every 5 seconds so they can't just fucking EXPERIENCE THE GAME ON THEIR OWN HOW THEY WANT TO JESUS FUCK
(cough)GameGrumps(cough)
So that being said if you are a person who likes watching people with wonderful and amazing reactions please see Dodger's play through
Her Genocide run is also great for various reasons
A word of warning: Her voice she does for Undyne is mildly upsetting, if only because it just really don't fit, but she tones it down eventually
Towards the end I stopped going "I HATE HER UNDYNE VOICE" to "okay I guess it's funny...."
And then I realized my unbridled rage at some of the voices just made watching her play more entertaining

It's not like I seek out Jazz
whenever i hear it I avoid it because it hurts my ears
I don't know what you jazzfolk consider to be good
but ya know I guess
I really like the Mad Dummy song and Napstablook theme

I can understand that!
I'm not sure if I would have laughed as hard without the drawings behind it tbh
But I like that people are doing this anyway
I also just think the way the guy delivered the joke was funnier than the joke itself
Especially when he makes side comments or his voice gets whispery
Chances are no matter how good a comedian's jokes are, if I don't like their voice I probably wont find it amusing

Undertale's the only game to have such a deep impact on me like this, I don't think I'll ever forget it.
All the games it has been up against I agree it's better than, but some really good games also got knocked out really early in other brackets.

I'm actually surprised with how much OOT is blowing SMRPG out of the water. I expected it to be a little closer. Maybe it's because everyone and their mother has played OOT and it did recently get re-released for the 3DS.
