i think its because people are used to WoW wherein tanks are given 50 million ways of free threat generation and you have toactually physically be unable to press buttonsto lose aggro in most pug dungeons-

The main issue with the economy is the lack of introduction of cash into the system (this is similar to but not the same sort of theory of higher wages for low-level workers increasing economic growth in the real world by preventing cash from stagnating in bank accounts of the rich), which combined with the number of things that take cashIn post 233, Iecerint wrote:The economy doesn't make much sense to me. Everything important can be NPC'd, and the main uses for gil are gilsinks like transportation and equipment repair.
I know people on the official forums have made cases that deflation will occur as the influx of players wanes, because each new main questline runthrough brings in a lot of gil. I guess this means I should keep everything liquidated.outof the system (vendor costs are complete removal) will eventually cause prices in the player-run economy to crash due to people being unable to afford premiums for luxury items (to the point where, combined with the ease of leveling crafting/gathering, might even cause people to just say "i'll craft it myself"), which in turn means that the people doing the crafting/gathering in the marketplace's margins go through the floor, which means that there will likely be a large portion who say fuck it due to lack of return on investment and start crafting solely for themselves. This creates its own loop - eventually, prices will either be so bargain-basement that the only people left doing crafting/gathering are essentially charities, or nobody will be able to afford goods due to the basic inability to even afford crafter/gatherer labor costs (the amount of money the crafters/gatherers need to make it worth their time).
There's a theory that this has been done intentionally in order to drain cash out of legacy servers prior to opening those up to new character creation. That would make sense for those servers, but it's probably going to cause irreparable harm to the fledgling economies of non-legacy servers (or at least a massive crash that will likely take either a long period of time to recover from or some sort of absurd money generation tactic to be found).
Keep your money in gold, folks.-

i had the same thing but worse; i volunteered to be our raid leader and was tasked with eventually getting a consistent Coil group up and runningIn post 559, Saki wrote:but but they're all nice people...
unfortunately, it was pretty goddamn obvious that we were either never going to get to coil or were going to get to coilmonthsdown the line; i had also made friends with someone back on my original home server (ultros) who had offered me a spot with their FC
$18 later for a server transfer and i definitely made the right decision (last night was supposed to be my first night with my static group at my new FC but some administrative dumbassery happened) - if they are your friends, they will understand that you are doing what is best for yourself; if not, i would reconsider whether or not they are really such nice people if they aren't wishing their comrades the best, even if that means they are no longer their comrades
tl;dr this is a game, do what you think will give you the most enjoyment - if you think you'll miss these guys too much and won't make new friends wherever you go, then stay, if not, then leave-

why are you running eos in the dps race ;_;In post 582, Iecerint wrote:

By the time he's out of cooldowns, the old dreadnought should be dead. After that, all the panic-times are over.
Your healers and any caster DPS (in case it's on CD for healers) can try to get Virus on the two dreadnoughts starting as Sentinel is about to go off if they want to make it easier; just make sure they communicate so that they know which to target. From the Scholar, Rouse -> Fey Illumination -> Whispering Dawn will make phase 6 a lot easier. Be sure he has Eos on manual. Eye for an Eye/Sacred Soil help, too. The OT can make it easier on the healers by circle-tanking everything else to minimize damage to let the healers stay focused.
Be sure the Scholar doesn't put up Rouse/FI/WD until several seconds after MT has hate on the 2nd dreadnought, or Eos will totally pull all of the hate.
You can also save this cooldown set for the enrage portion of the fight if you want to avoid these hate issues.

it does, because of the way the parser works, which is reading from game memory (which does not store the values of player health in a way that is easily readable, due to the way the game calculates stuff and sends it back to client)In post 626, Iecerint wrote:

It's story time! Today's story: JD and the Whack-a-Mole Raid!
I transferred to Gilgamesh in April to join a bunch of old friends from my CL days after my stint in the top FC on Hyperion ended. I decided once I got over here and saw there weren't any raid slots in my new FC I was interested in to make my own group. I grabbed a friend of mine and a SCH in the FC in need of a group who said they had a PLD friend who needed one as well, and we started up.
Soon after I grabbed a couple of other people from the FC who I knew of but had never had any contact with - everyone who'd ever talked about them said they were great people (and they are) so I was super excited. I went on to tell our SCH only to find out that he'd decided he was just going to start his own group (gave a bunch of bullshit answers to my questioning), so back down to 4 we went. That's ok, I thought, we had me on DRG, the two I'd picked up were SMN/BRD, and my friend was WAR - it'd be rough recruiting, but I could easily pick up PLD/SCH/WHM/MNK, right? Soon after I started my delightful ad campaign. I managed to snag a PLD who came with his own set of healers. Bonus! I grabbed a MNK soon after and we went off on our first raid night.
We're missing our PLD when we start, so we decide to do T10 farm instead of the T12 prog. Things are pretty shaky due to some tanking issues caused by rust. Our healers refuse to join us on TS, and then when the PLD finally shows up tell him we have "communication issues". Already I want to kick them, but I want to keep them going for now and see if they shape up. The tank seems like a cool guy. Afterwards, he says he needs to talk to his healers then basically tells us that they've decided to stay but are putting conditions on it. I decide to give them one more night to see what happens. Next day, they've left the raid linkshell and the group and took the monk with them.
So back down to 4/8 again, I decide I'm going to swing over to WHM instead of playing DRG. Grab a SCH who seems pretty cool, grab a PLD with no experience who seems to have a good attitude, grab a couple of melees who seem chill and things go from there. We go to go in last night, the PLD is missing, and our WAR is out of game time. So we grab a couple of PUG tanks and 2-shot T12 (we had 3 people without clears) with almost no difficulty.
Spending today recruiting new tanks. Grabbed a PLD that looks promising but we'll see what happens when we get in there.
Remember kids, it's not about finding the best players, it's about finding good, reliable people.-

current thoughts based off of what little we know about healers specifically:
I've heard that Astrologians are unable to change stances mid-battle - this is a very, very silly design decision and I hope it gets reversed. This basically pigeon-holes them as "replacement healer" since their jack of all trades nature seems to indicate that their abilities are actually categoricallyworsethan most of the other healers' abilities (it's likely their regen effects, for example, will be too weak to make them a full WHM replacement with spspd affecting HoT effects, and their shields will likely be weaker than a SCH's). That being said, their adaptability will make them the "if you for some reason can only play one healer class and you want to solo heal things once you out-gear/skill them" go-to.
From a WHM's perspective, the only things we can really conjecture off of are the spellspeed changes (will likely make spellspeed #1 optimal stat for all builds instead of being for solo heal builds, especially with the refresh effect on Assize), and the changes to Holy and Assize (which we have numbers on). Holy is getting absolutely and 100% eviscerated, and is Squeenix saying "fuck you WHMs in speedruns/DD first room/etc". Assize is a 90s cd with a 300 heal potency, making it not really that great except in emergency situations (not what we were hoping for - the ideal would be an instant-cast at a large mana cost, which is what i was expecting) and massive AoE spikes (a swifted Cure3 + Assize will equal 850 potency in heals out in a split-second) a la Gigaflare/Rage of Bahamut/Megaflare/etc.-

Disable also seems like it could save some tank LB use?
The only attack that's required tank LB in the entirety of coil progression was Teraflare in T13, and Bahamut Prime is untargetable while he's casting it.
The card system's buff power is known. It's a nice touch but it's not a replacement for the raw healing output of a WHM and will likely not outstrip the DPS potential of a SCH in usefulness.-

My current thoughts on viable pairs in terms of healing synergy:
WHM/SCH, AST/SCH -
Play similarly to WHM/SCH before. SCH will mostly DPS and play support to WHM/AST output. May be room for flex with WHM/SCH where WHM would want to be dpsing instead of SCH - WHM dps received a fairly large buff with stone3, and potentially with aero3. SCH in cleric received a nerf since Lustrate is now affected by cleric stance, meaning that they can't support heal from cleric. Need to see Tetragrammaton CD to see if WHMs actuallycan. AST/SCH will likely play exactly the same as old WHM/SCH - AST DPS seems weak probably due to their very large utility pool.
WHM/AST
This would be similar to the old WHM/SCH setup, but reversed - the WHM would rely on the AST's heals while they DPS, popping out of cleric for support. Extremely powerful for AoE-heavy fights, weak on fights with high single-target damage.
AST/AST
Weak on DPS, very strong on raw power and flexibility - dual cards MAY make up for the lack of healer DPS with raid DPS buffs, but likely won't. Probably viable only with high gear levels.-

i'd say jump over to gilg and play either drg/mnk for us but we're kind of hoping to go into stuff on tuesday - will you be 60 by alex release?
i've cleared t13 before echo, was with a pug. i got tired of our whm obviously not being up for the challenge and stopped showing up to raid.
was this you stopped showing up to raid or they stopped showing up?-

if you transfer on over we'll pick you up as soon as you're ready; our current raid times are 10PM-1AM eastern Tues-Thurs (may be more with alex release, we'll see what happens), and even if it doesn't work out you'll be on one of the most populated servers which is generally well-known for player skill, so it's a good environment outside of a static for progression-minded people as well-

4/4 and we were considering selling tonight but we played league all night instead.
Easy, fun, and greatly looking forward to savage. Especially like the aesthetic elements of it. I play with BGM on unlike most people I play with because my computer is the brave little toaster - because of this, the fact that the music is both A) enjoyable and B) not distracting is extremely useful to me.
Curious to how loot is going to work in savage; they seem to be making a big deal out of the live letter clarifying it, so I'm assuming it'll be different than coil.-

the healing load in A4 normal is greatly exaggerated
we've run it with WHM/diurnal AST and WHM/SCH; the first was just stack med2/aspected helios and the second was just med2/eos for dealing with all the random damage; the only slightly scary part is when you have nisi on you and both you/tank are relatively low, but on WHM that's not really scary as long as you're holding your tetra-
