Oh, neat, there're some other Bronze people. I don't have to be embarrassed about doing my Season 2 placement matches.
Speaking of that -- this is a little superficial, but would anyone be OK with doing my 2v2 matches with me to help me get Hot Shot? A paralyzing sense of imperfection is going to haunt me until I get it...

I have nydus + psi disruptor. D:
Oh well. I'm going to play through again to get the Welcome To The Jungle Hard achievement, anyway, since I did that one early on and without upgrades because I wanted to get all the tech achievements this time through, so I can always change it next time.

It's easy if you recognize a few key points:
1. The upgrades cycle through all the possibilities when they appear. If it gives you something suboptimal, you can wait and let it change.
2. Drones effectively give you extra "life" on top of the added offense. Always max drones if they aren't already maxed.
3. Bombs grant short-term invulnerability. Use if you're on the verge of death. You can also use it if a free bomb appears, since you'll have free reign to grab it to replace what you used.
4. Plasma is better than side missiles for bosses, and not much worse for other stuff when you have 2 drones doing side-damage, anyway.
5. You can also use WASD to move around.
Knowing this, you can prioritize upgrades by going dronex2 (the black one) -> plasmax2 (the one after that) -> bombs (the blue one) to infinity, and then just replenish drones as necessary. You have to screw up 3 consecutive times to lose a life, so you'll easily get extra lives well before you lose them.
I got the final achievement when I beat the 3rd Terratron in Level 9. Finally died on Level 11, but I wasn't really as focused anymore. ^^~

Gammagooey wrote:It took me a while but I eventually beat that on Brutal with a fairly mixed army (decent number of carriers+void rays+ dark templars, stalkers, and about 6 colossi) and tons of photon cannons, when the nydus things appear make sure you target them down first, they'll absolutely maim any photon cannon defenses with never-ending broodlings if you don't.
And my laptop is finally back up and running so STARCRAFT TONIGHT.
I did it on the first try with pretty much just a DT wall and phoenixes to snipe overseers. I had to load once when the enemy brought in 3 overseers from one side and one from the other simultaneously, but that's all. I replayed it on Casual after that to pick up the research and actually scored less well. O.o
I think photon cannons might actually be counter-productive in this stage. I think the enemy may send more zerglings if you take too long to finish a wave, and the DTs are perfectly capable to kill anything provided you wall off and overseers die.

GOOD LUCK.
Planetary fortress is actually the way to go IMO. You can easily block off the left side with 2 of them and some SCVs. The right's a little funkier, but the AI mostly stands and tries to kill the thing, so it doesn't matter.

I read that on a forum a few days ago. May just be remembering incorrectly.
Anyway, I'm all for taking it at the same time as you guys. Just let me know. I'll be busy from like uhh I guess midnight - 5 AM or so EST tomorrow, but I can make myself available most times.

What changed about the set-up over the past several months to make P imba rather than T? While I've noticed everyone saying as much, when I used to play, everyone complained about MMM being the unbalanced, attack-move strat. P was seen as "rush to Colossus in time to stop MMM." Z was seen as gimp at low levels s/p Spawn Larvae.

It could just be that he wants to lose strategically so that he can stay in Bronze and achieve the fastest possible wins/time ratio because he wants the Dark Voice avatar.
Against anything Hard AI or below, I think you can just defend->attack-move counter-attack and win every time. Or you can do standard cheese (proxy barracks/6 pool/cannons) and win every time.
I wish I had youtube here so I could see the modern way to beat Insane with the various races (post-AI changes). That way I could convince myself to go Random Custom or Random Insane Co-Op instead of polluting league games with my filth.

Oh, I wasn't talking about you. I was responding to the back-and-forth re: cheese keeps you in Bronze only if you do the cheese poorly/slightly more elaborate fail-proof-y strategies recommended.
My counterpoint was that the extra effort required for such strategies defeats the purpose of grinding achievements (because they take more time to execute).

Anyone want to mindlessly grind Insane AI with me? I'm out of easy achievements to grind unless I wanna Random league, which, contrary to my prior claims, is a little low for me so far.
That, or figure out Left 2 Die. DRK and I couldn't manage Hard, though we (or at least I) didn't see the other ledge... ^^;

Yeah, the entire internet is annoyed at the dumb, retconned love story. They do lampshade this near the end of the game from what I understand, though, which made me feel a little better about it. And we also get a neat twist involving Raynor from what I understand.
The only plot-related thing that annoyed me was
Spoiler:
the death of Narud. Big anti-climax, since Duran was one of my favorite Brood War characters. I was over-the-moon about Alexei showing up, though. But there's probably still space for them to full a fast one in Legacy of the Void.

You can also download the fan-made Starcraft Classic legacy missions, if you're a player who goes back and plays the original SC campaign regularly. It's done very well.

It would be helpful if someone with a page 1 post (e.g., TBM) could update the table with everyone's information, since ReaperCharlie isn't on the site anymore.
In post 1872, Iecerint wrote:I have the original Starcraft, too, but the SC2-version of it is worth playing through if you're a fan. Team Liquid did a good job.
there is an SC2 version of starcraft? wooo
pm me a link plz
Check here. I'm putting it here rather than PMing it because it's so great.
I think they're going to improve it moar with the HotS assets soon.

I played the SC2 mafia map last night. The culture is a bit trollish, and the guy who made the map is apparently kind of a shady guy, but the map is made very well.
