In addition to what Reck said:
Always log out in an inn or a major city, no exceptions. The cost is 15/month, plus any random free time you might get for scheduled downtime (which is basically never now). Give different classes a shot during your decision making, feel free to start another character if you get bored during leveling. All the classes have a leveling talent build, so it really doesn't matter much.
Oh, and minimize downtime. The less time you spend regaining health/mana, the more time you have for gaining experience. This doesn't really come into play until later in the leveling process, you can't avoid eating/drinking in the single digit levels.Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~-

God forbid people enjoy the challenge of it all. If we go by that logic then there is no gain to hitting the level cap, and no gain in pvp, no gain to playing an alt, etc. You play the game for fun, and if endgame progression meets your fun expectations, that's what one would do...
PS: If you're getting yelled at for four hours straight, you really are "doin' it wrong".Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~-

I second Auctioneer and MSBT. Everything that comes with the Auctioneer Suite are fantastic (informant, enchantrix). Both very useful. Personalyl, I use(d) Dominoes for my bar mod and AG_unitframes for the unit frames. Quartz is a great substitute for the default cast bar. If your tooltip is getting in the way, Cowtip does wonders with that. Rating Buster (if still maintained) is very good for comparing stats on gear.Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~-

Well, I've always been one of those players who hates the idea behind a gearscore (assuming we have the same idea of what a gearscore is). Rating Buster takes the raw stats from a piece of gear (agi, str, crit rating) and calculates how much actual stats you'll get out of it in a more player friendly format, such as crit rating to crit percent. It'll compare the item with the stats of the current piece of gear you are wearing, if you gain/lose stats from equipping that. Personally, I find it to be a much more useful resource than anything you'd get out of gearscore. Also, Flameaxe: is PlayerScore still the standard for comparing gearscore, or does Rating Buster work too?
(The image should make my explanation make sense...)
Also, I was hesitant to try the actionbar mods at first too, but I am so glad I did. It really gets rid of a lot of useless clutter in your UI and makes more room for customizing it to your own liking. As for which one, I'd just try one out here and there. Like i said, I tried Dominos, and liked it, so I kept it. The snap feature can get annoying sometimes, but once you have everything set where you want it, it doesn't matter too much.
Thought of another too: OmniCC, it puts a big number over a spell with a cooldown instead of the whole shaded out button that rotates back to normal.Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~-

I'm leveling, and I could not care less. Plus, isn't the first level 5%? That's plenty of a boost, honestly. We can easily take down one guild level in no time at all.tanstalas wrote:The only nice perk is the 10% bonus exp perk, since I'm 85 now I could not care less. I use Dominos. It's benefits basically are: It takes away all the...Texture stuff (Not sure how to describe it, but think those dragon things on the side of the actionbar) and leaves you with nothing but the actionbar itself. Each bar is customizable for scale, opacity, length, and something else I can't think of. Its not as important, but it also allows for much easier bindings than scrolling through the key bindings options to find the right bar, it allows you to hover over a button and add the key-binding right there.tanstalas wrote:

Your idea of "major" is a bit skewed. But for more info, its for all rogues, and the first tier sub talent increases speed still, afaik.Rogues get a major buff (!) - Stealth now has a 4 sec cooldown. Apparently no longer reduces your speed. Think this might be Subtlety-only though.Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~-

Frogito Ergo Sum wrote:I dont know about cata specifically but the difference between wrath and vanilla is largely overstated, as while 0-60 was way quicker, 60-80 was a pretty sizable grind. What it really felt like was that the whole first 70 was being played on fast forwards - even dungeons that used to take a few hours ith careful talking about how to cc the one mob and focus the big damage dealer were largely irrelevant as it became "ok we pull this room and gogogogogogo" which I found honestly a lot less fun but whatever. It gets you to that coveted endgame content quicker - I just don't see why that means you should have to just sacrifice all early game content. Also I found that people at endgame were indeed morons cause they hadn't learnt to play through the early dungeons. I dunno.
Everything you said here is completely true, still. 60-70 is much, much quicker now. Even 1-60 is quicker, is seems. Hell, 80-85 is pretty damn quick for what its worth. From what I hear, Cata heroics are a bit harder than Wrath heroics, but not quite at the level of pre-nerf BC heroics (I mean, fuck those). I'd assume a lot of that is just the fact that a lot of people aren't at the gear levels that people reached towards the end of Wrath, making 80 heroics a total joke even with PuGs.Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~-

I'll be here when theres a useful change. I'm not seeing it.
Stealth change is pretty underwhelming. You can run a bit faster to get out of stealth. Wee?
Recoup is useless outside of pvp, imo. If you're pvping without improved recoup, you're dumb. Recoup with improved now: 4%, recoup with improved after the patch 4%. Nothing has changed there. No point making a big deal out of nothing.
Never really had a problem with the TOTT range as it is, so improving it won't really appear as anything substantial.
The only thing I see here is the fact that Blizzard is completely destroying the entire stealth feature and turning it into a pile of lulz. They really don't seem to give a fuck about logic anymore. I SNEAK, THEREFORE I SPEED. Wut.
More to say edit: I honestly see the stealth changes having no real impact on 85 play, more of a leveling buff than anything. Realistically, my feral druid has the speed of this new buff stealthed, so that takes away anything special from that.Last edited by Flameaxe on Tue Mar 01, 2011 4:48 pm, edited 1 time in total.Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~-

stealth edit. If it benefits pvp, its a negligible benefit at best. PS: Tricks isn't an AoE?tanstalas wrote:

Move faster while stelathed, and no CD on stealth if specced for it.
Self-heal up to 90% from 60% (with 5 CP's)
Granted these changes benefit PvP more than PvE, but still awesome.Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~-
