So I looked at the song list... and some people cheated. The Killers are certainly not from Dubai.-

Does anyone here like Punk-rock/indie-rock? Everyone I know goes "meh" whenever I mention the bands I like, and then go on to list classic rock bands, rappers, pop singers, or (gasp) country singers.
As far as post-grunge goes, the list that Panzer posted is pretty bad if not just for the fact that Foo Fighters isn't listed. Also, just because many of those bands are very similar (same genre though..) doesn't mean it is all bad. You can like some of it just because it sounds good. By that logic, everything that is very similar to many things is bad. So, anything that is popular is very likely to be bad, so I find that you are just trying to be hipster, which ironically is 'in'.-

Ortolan is trolling, I believe. Allow me to recap:
1) Ortolan is very linear in thinking: If song has much view, is lame! If song has small view, is great!
2) Indie rock isn't "hey we signed to an independent record label, listen to us..", it actually turned into a genre itself. You could also call MCS punk-rock if you prefer, but it is indie-rock, which is a form of alternative rock.
Also, either the views of the song affected your opinion or it did not. If you criticize something for being i) mainstream ii) having many views, you automatically are, and you have contradicted yourself quite clearly in this thread. Ortolan is just trying to be independent is all, but he doesn't realize that being hipster is so 2009.-

Ortolan, isn't labeling yourself as ANY genre an image?
"We're a rap group!"
"We're a progressive rock band!"
You are just going out of your way to find details to form rude opinions with, perhaps because you're worried how you'd look if you opened up and told us your feelings.-

Ortalan, other people labeled them indie/punk rock. So everything you've said up until now is invalid, enjoy your cake.-

If it didn't matter, then someone else's opinion, which is clearly inferior to your own, wouldn't incite you to wall-posting.
Things that don't matter still justify discussion and are valid to be commented on. Anyway, no point in arguing over something as pointless as this.-

What's wrong with Classical music?
What's wrong with Jazz?-

It's essentially the new music style that many of the musicians currently in college are bringing rise to, at least, the djent scene is huge in music colleges from what my friends who go to those schools tell me. It reminds me of dubstep (which I do not like), so I don't listen to it. But I've seen djent bands with heavy Jazz influence, as well as classical influence. It's a genre that is still defining itself I think.
pedit: Well I believe djent comes from a club that started the music style, but I could be wrong. I'll ask some people about it tomorrow perhaps.-

Yeah, repetitive can sound very nice. Here's some evidence:

I don't know.. France sounded pretty generic to me, not sure why it is winning; I did give it 7 points, but that's because I didn't expect it to do well and it is a good song, but given how you guys hate Parama's "repetitious" songs, I figured you guys would not like it.
Why do you spread out the voting into so many posts?
edit: Also, I'm surprised Chile didn't get much points.Last edited by Junpei on Wed Nov 16, 2011 3:35 pm, edited 1 time in total.
