Is swearing in mafia games appropriate?

All such polls lean heavily towards the one side at first, before balancing out after about 24-48 hours.

Like I said, scum chat is more organized.

Also, I voted for neither (my view is essentially "It depends on who is playing.")

I voted no, but I probably should have voted more towards "Neither". I suppose asking "Should you swear..." is far different from "Is it okay to swear...", and I care a lot more about the former, and not an awful lot about the terribly uninteresting discussion about rights of people to swear. I don't like swearing, I personally prefer games where mods outlaw/restrict profanity & personal attacks, but it's not such a big deal to me that I'll make a fuss of it. (I do steer clear of certain players on language/attacks, however.)

I RP this so fully that I actually kill rats everytime someone dies.

The point though is that (and I hate to say this) "We're not acutally hanging people, its just words." "Well if the words are just pretending, then how is swearing a problem, its just pretending."

I basically think that "its not me swearing, its my role"

Have you read this thread? And would it be okay of me to post pornographic pictures in the thread if my role was a pimp? (After all, it'd be my role posting, not me.) I don't get it, are you suggesting that you're pretending to swear and not actually swearing?
