And so God created the heavens, the earth, and the animals. Then he was called away to business somewhere around the star system X24T9. Rumor has it he had a Flying Spaghetti Monster fill in for him, but the facts remain that whatever was up there was incompetent.

So life went on, until one day someone invented evolution. The animals all enjoyed this addition to life and happiness, but some took it as an opportunity. There was dissension in the ranks as some species took the opportunity as a power grab...

mod, Petroleum Pie. It's Pie_is_good and PetroleumJelly evolved into one big bundle of awesome.

I will be watching over all of you to make sure nothing too awful goes on. I mean, it's not like there are certain groups of you who want to kill everyone else and take over the world. That would just be ridiculous. But, just in case there are, you can kill each other anyways.

Since God left you, I'm filling in. My rules may or may not be a little different than God's. Here we have:

The Ten Do-These-And-Get-Pwned s.

Stolen and blatantly plagiarized. I had to kill seven babies to get to these. MeMe runs a hard bargain.

1. THOU SHALT NOT QUOTE THY MOD. Doing so will screw with the game, leaving me no choice but to modkill off the corrupted role.

2. THOU SHALT NOT SUCK. It's just a game. Play your hardest and enjoy yourself. Don't take anything anyone else says too seriously. In the end, it's all in good fun.

3. THOU SHALT CONTAIN THY GAME TO THE THREAD. No talking about outside of thread, unless your role allows you to do so. If a character is made unplayable in this way, they will be modkilled. If the game wasn't impacted too badly, the guilty players will be replaced.

4. THOU SHALT EXCERSISE COMMON SENSE LIBERALLY. If you aren't perfectly clear on normal mafia rules, look them up. Try to avoid doing anything stupid. I acknowledge that I can't cover every specific circumstance within these rules.

5. THOU SHALT OBEY THY MOD. It has been scientifically proven that I am always right. Any mistakes made in votecounts or something are your fault. Any judgements that I make must be taken as final to keep the game moving.

6. THOU SHALT STAY ACTIVE. I'll try my best to keep things interesting, but I won't let inactivities ruin the game. Nightchoices are due by the posted deadline. Prods will go out if it's getting dangerously close to said deadline. If you don't make the deadline, I will seek a replacement immediately to perform your nightchoice for you and take over.

7. THOU SHALT CONFIDE IN THY MOD. If you have any questions, PM me. Also, if you are going to be away for 2 or more days, PM me. You are permitted to have a life. Just let me know that you have a life.

8. THOU SHALT VOTE AS CLEARLY AS POSSIBLE. If it's clear who you're trying to vote, even if you forget to unvote, I won't make you go through the formalities. But the more bold and uppercase your votes are, the more you remember to vote, etc., the more accurate and easier my job will be.

9. THOU SHALT BE PATIENT. If I go a day over deadline, forgive me. I, too, will find it in my heart to not modkill you all.

The few who did were truly random ones, but strangely, entire species were represented. Those are you. As you seem to have decided to kill each other over all this, I just thought I should inform you of that.

A cloud of dust flies through the air, sprinkling gently into a glistening pool of azure water. The reflection in that water shows a beautiful landscape, shaped by harsh weather conditions… trees with strips of bark shaped like toothpicks pointing towards the sky, lush but sturdy underbrush, bright flowers emblazoned with jagged lines…

There is suddenly a ripple…

A few fish and tadpoles in the water look about surprised, but immediately forget and swim along obliviously. A couple mosquitoes and dragonflies buzz near the surface, the water just grazing their wings…

Another ripple, much larger…

Figuring that waiting for a

more ominous ripple would take too long anyways, a roar from everyplace fills the area, and a giant foot comes splashing into the puddle. You guessed it... DINOSAUR!

“I thought those were

extinct

” comments one animal, it’s seven arms splooshing about.

“Well, if they weren’t, they’re about to be” comments the other.

And with that, the town drowns HezLucky in the pool of water, his short flimsy forearms powerless to push himself out. The irony! The horror!

As you slowly emerge out of the dark ages, your days of stabbing each other in the dark come to a close. As you begin to come together to begin a fresh, new life of stabbing each other in the light, you notice something a bit strange.

A foul smell fills the air, and the convention is brought to a halt. You notice that the trees around are oozing a strange, dark green sap and rotting away. The branches are frail, the leaves are cracked and dying. Clearly, these

The singing floats into the air, as bottles are passed around the campfire, and the town trades silly spoonerisms, like the ‘Wave the Sails’ campaign, chewing the doors, and retelling the story of Goldybear and the Three Locks. Suddenly, somebody mentions:

“There has been a lack of Pies lately.”

Lightning streaks across the sky, and zaps the ground. Clouds descend from the oblivion, and swirl about menacingly. A black mist exudes into the very essence of being, and darkness encompasses all.

In a booming voice:

"That’s a pack of lies! Petroleum Pie would never abandon thee! Now go and lynch, I say! Thy Mod commands it!"

And everything disappears except the fourteen of you in flash of pure light. You all find yourselves floating around in some primordial ooze, and figure that sometimes it’s just best not to ask questions (such as how you could possibly be able to talk, and such).

Feeling a bit hungry, though, the town decides to dip him in chocolate and eat him. Delicious!

Until Mastermind of Sin jumps into the clearing. He sniffs around, and says… “Wait a second… did the Mod just say my name explicitly?”

A random townsperson replies in the affirmative.

“Doesn’t that mean I’m probably going to do very soon?”

“Well, that sucks.”

A third, apologetic nod with a shrug.

A hunting rifle fires, and it seems Deer Season is over forever.

After realizing they had done nothing to stop those who constantly killed people in the shadows, the town burst into a fit of primal rage.

Drums were beaten, and fires were built. A sacrificial altar was somehow constructed lopsidedly near the center of a forest clearing, where they had traveled so as to not catch any diseases from the deceased. Chants fill the air, and so on, and so forth. A cry from the croud:

"Ooga-booga munga!", shouts spectrumvoid.

The dancing suddenly halts. A few of the more dim-witted townspeople continue dancing for a few seconds longer, before their feet go flaccid.

"I believe the term is

," says one.
"I say, you're quite right."
"Indeed. Shall we kill her, then?"
"Let's."

With no façade of civility, spectrumvoid is placed on the altar, and her head is severed. Spots start covering her body, before exploding on the general populace.

Ubertimmy sniffs the air, as if sensing a trap.

God nonchalantly lands a hurricane next to Ubertimmy, tearing up the forest he is standing in. At that, the Fox nodded his head quickly and figured he'd best take what he could get.

have ample time to review the set-up of this game before roles were sent out, so nobody better complain about the imbalance which I think is fairly apparent. Or if you do, please direct your comments towards Pie_Is_Good.

God's Mafia

Fritzler / FATty ACid

God:

You created this mess, now you want to clean it up. Unfortunately, you haven't quite mastered the whole Flood thing yet, so you're going to have to kill everyone the old-fashioned way. Undercover.

Currently, you're a 1-man mafia. Out there, though, there is a person on your side. They have a method of revealing themselves to you and opening a channel of communication with you... but they have to forfeit powers to do so. Until they do (if they do), you will decide and perform the nightkills.

Evolution progression:

Level 1:

No nightkill yet.

Level 2:

No nightkill, but you get a roleblock.

Level 3:

Normal mafia! Nightkill at will.

Level 4:

If you perform a nightkill, each other person who targeted the nightkill-ee will regress one level of evolution.

N 5:

In addition to nightkilling, you may target somebody. That person will regress one level of evolution.

Note that, if you want, you may use a nightchoice based on any level of evolution. For example, if you are evolved to the 5th level but you decide you'd rather use the 4th level ability, you may.

Save the Dragons

Pat Robertson:

This whole evolution thing is a lie! You're out to show all those evolving species that they're... uh, not evolving. Kill them all to win.

You're mafia and one of the few roles – if not the only role – in this game that doesn't evolve (although I'm sure you'll find your role plenty complicated)

You also have the ability to, 1 time in the game, halt one round of evolution. PM me, and the next time people would evolve – the beginning of the next day – instead, they don't.

You also have a mafia partner – God – who you work with. Unfortunately, as you still need to distinguish yourself from all the other mortals, God does not yet know who you are.


Also at any time in the game, if your 1-shot evolution stop is unused, you may forfeit it to become a normal mafia group with God.

And, last thing: You are a scum mason! [Cogito Ergo Sum / GreenLiquid] is your mason buddy. He doesn't know anything about you, so be wary of what you tell him – in this game, your name of Pat Robertson may sound scummy.

Evolution Progression:

Stage 1:

Primal Man. Still getting your feet under you. As long as you're on this stage, you may not change your vote during the day – Although the slate is wiped day-to-day, once you vote you're stuck there for the rest of the day.

Stage 2:

Develop Bigger Brain! You may not perform the nightkill this night, but you do get a cop investigation.

Stage 3:

Normal Scumbag.

Stage 4:

Getting modernly destructive. As long as someone else is nightkilling, you may choose someone and regress their stage of evolution by 1.

Stage 5:

Modern. Your technology grants you nightkill and investigation immunity – you can't be killed at night, and you will be treated as innocent to cops.

To preempt questions:

Yes, God and Pat Robertson were a 2-person scum-group. Yes, they could not even make a nightkill choice until Night Three. Yes, they did not even begin the game knowing who each other were. Yes, Pat Robertson really had no abilities whatsoever after he relinquishes his ability in order to find God. Yes, none of the scum were given safe-claims whatsoever, even though one scum from each scum group were "Masons" with each other. And yes, neither of them even had investigative immunity or nightkill immunity. I am honestly surprised they managed to win this game (though Fritzler did decide to go on Living Happily Ever After with Ubertimmy).

It seems pretty clear that the Infectious Mafia had a distinct advantage over God's Mafia, so kudos is necessary here. All three Infectious Mafia were lynched... none of God's Mafia was lynched. Pretty impressive.

Evolution Progression:

Stage 1:

Eyesight hasn't quite evolved into shape yet. You only have the ability to tell whether or not your tracking target left their home – that is, you can only target someone and tell whether or not they performed a nightchoice.

Stage 2:

Feathers aren't hollow yet. Your track will fail if anyone targets you at night and slows you down.

Stage 3:

Normal tracker.

Stage 4:

Fly faster! Your track will chain once – that is, if you track person A to person B, you will get tracker results for person B as well as person A.

Stage 5:

Upon reaching this stage, you will gain a 1-shot ability to track everyone for one night.

Mod Notes: Sane Tracker. Also, the Stage 5 ability here would have been devestating had MBL lived that long.

You ever heard the phrase “multiply like rabbits”? Well, that's how it is. It's next to impossible to kill you off – there are too many! You are Unnightkillable.

Stage 1:

You haven't quite multiplied yet – you're vulnerable. All you can do is run away – In addition to being unnightkillable, all protown roles that target you will be fail and automatically be roleblocked the next night, chasing you down.

Stage 2:

You are only partially unnightkillable this night. If you would be killed once, you'll survive. If two different groups/things try to kill you, though, you die.

Stage 3:

Normal unnightkillability.

Stage 4:

Camouflage! At the beginning of each night, you may choose to change from being unnightkillable to completely untargettable.

Stage 5:

You will be given a list of all players that targeted (or attempted to target you) each night.

Insects

You represent the entirety of insectdom. With your ability to infiltrate the smallest and the largest spaces around, you are now putting your abilities to work spying on the mafia threat.

You are a cop. As always, sanity is uncertain.

Stage 1:

You only have the sensory ability to tell whether or not the home you're infiltrating is occupied. You will only be informed as to whether or not your target made a nightchoice. Note: Sanity applies to this one, too.

Stage 2:

Sense of smell: In addition to your first ability, if you target a mafia performing a kill, you will be alerted to their guiltiness (sanity applies).

Stage 3:

Normal cop. If you wish, of course, you may use your abilities from previous stages.

Stage 4:

Poisonous! At this stage, you gain a 1-shot vig ability that can only be used on players you have targeted in the past.

Stage 5:

You may spend an investigation night gaining information on all previous targets for any one of your stage-abilities. For example, you may investigate everyone who you've targeted (via stage 3), Determine what players made a nightchoice out of everyone who you've targeted (via stage 1 or 2), etc.

Vultures

You're the vulture race – a breed of undoubtedly skilled scavengers. The species is looked down upon, but survival is survival. They work for the proverbial town, and they are the Neighborhood Watch role – Target someone each night. If that player dies, you find out who performed the kill.

Stage 1:

Poor eyesight. If you correctly find a person to be killed, you will be given a list of 3 players – the killer and two random names.

Stage 2:

Poor flight. You will be restricted to targeting a player who almost died the previous day – anyone who finished the day with a vote on them.

Stage 3:

Normal Neighborhood Watcher.

Stage 4:

Tracking. If you find a killer, you will also be alerted to the number of their scummates left alive.

Stage 5:

Harsh-condition survival: Once in the game, you will be permitted to “watch” yourself. If you do, and you die that same night, you will be permitted to make one (and exactly one) post the following day (presumably fingering whoever killed you).

chamber

Gophers

You're the gophers, whose unleashed fury has ravaged golf courses everywhere. Gophers are not a race to be messed with (see: Caddyshack). You use your burrowing skills to infiltrate and spy on whatever scumbags may or may not lurk. You're a cop (as always, unknown sanity).

Stage 1:

Undeveloped claws. The burrowing takes a long time. As such, your target on this night will not be received until the next night is processed. The investigation will otherwise get results as though you were on stage 2.

Stage 2:

Poor Eyesight. You will get a guilty result on any player that is either scum or has a method of killing at all during the game (note: sanity applies here, too).

Stage 3:

Normal Cop

Stage 4:

At any time during the day, you may use your investigation for the following night. You will get results ASAP.

Stage 5:

Choose any evolution stage for your target. You will be given that stage for the player of your choice (hint: If you want to act like a detective, choose stage 3).

Primate

Trees

Trees support all kinds of life – Life within their bark and branches, life supported by their shelter and fruit. Each night, you will be able to shelter another animal and keep them safe. Doctor.

Stage 1:

Poor hiding – If someone is being watched, you can't hide them. You may not protect a role this night that claimed during the day, in addition to your stage 2 protection style.

Stage 2:

Trees are too small - Your protections will only save 1 kill – if two people kill the same person that you protect, that person will die anyways.

Stage 3:

Normal Doctor.

Stage 4:

Jungle Camouflage - You may protect yourself from here on out.

Stage 5:

Hardened bark – you are unnightkillable.

Note: Even the possibility for an unnightkillable doctor is appalling. I wasn't too happy with this role either, although it would technically be possible to devolve this role to Stage 4 or lower even if it had survived.

Coron / TheStatusQuo

Leeches

You leech your success off of other, figuratively and literally. You can suck the life away of another species. Your abilities can be useful in a scum-infested environment, though, so you are put to work within the town.

Stage 1:

Outnumbered - If you choose to hold someone's evolutionary progress back tonight, yours will be held back as well.

Stage 2:

Weak jaws – Your nightchoice tonight will be on the person you ended the day voting for. No vote means no choice. If you were on the lynching wagon, though, you may target as normal.

Stage 3:

You are a normal evolution-stage-drainer-thing.

Stage 4:

Whenever you drain, you add the lost stage to your own count.

Stage 5:

Whenever you drain, you may add the lost stage to someone else's stage count.

Note: I hated these devolver roles. They caused so much trouble with night-choices. ><

Further Note: Yes, TSQ actually did quote large parts of his Role PM in his claim post. I deferred the decision of modkilling to Pie_Is_Good, who decided to allow TSQ to continue playing since the town was not completely receptive to the claim as being "truth" to begin with.

Dinosaurs

You're the big honkin' dinosaurs we all know and love from TV. You frequently get stompy. You have good intentions, but you lack foot-eye coordination. You're a vig. You also have a quirk to your role: As history has shown, dinosaurs can not survive alongside modernday animals. If the town wins and you are still alive, you will lose. It should be noted that vigging yourself is an option.

Stage 1:

Bad eyesight – You send me a list of 3 people you want to kill, and your vig target will be randomly selected from those 3. You also must kill.

Stage 2:

Overagressive - You MUST kill this night. No choice.

Stage 3:

Normal vig.

Stage 4:

You will be given the option of, instead of killing on your own, following someone else's choice. You may target a player. If that player targets someone else, you will kill their target.

Stage 5:

The first time your kill is placed on a protown player after you reach this stage, it will automatically fail.

VisMaior / Rainbow Brite

Chamelion

You blend in to your surroundings perfectly, to the point where you are right at home. You have a strange role – you don't have your own personal sequence of evolution, but you get to steal one from other people.

You are a townie, with a twist. Once in the game, during any night, you may choose a general role (example: Doctor, Cop, Vigilante, Roleblocker). The next time a player with the named role dies, you will take over their evolution pattern where they left off.

Mastermind of Sin

Deer

You're deer, one of the lamer species ever. The only thing people remember you for was getting shot in Bambi, and that doesn't count. You don't do too much. Townie... but, of course, you evolve.

Stage 1:

Too many predators. It only takes half the normal number to lynch you (rounded up)

Stage 2:

Getting Faster. It takes 2/3 the number to lynch you (rounded up)

Stage 3:

Normal townie.

Stage 4:

Faster... It takes half again as many for the lynch.

Stage 5:

Fastest. Unlynchable.

Elephants

You really can't do very much, except eat peanuts in amusing ways. Not much use against the mafia threat.

Stage 1:

Too slow to run. If two or more people target you this night, you will die.

Stage 2:

You're too big to do anything but get in the way. All protown roles that target you while you're on this stage will be roleblocked.

Stage 3:

Normal Townie

Stage 4:

Big enough to block the way, if used wisely. You may choose a player. If that player targets you, they get roleblocked.

Stage 5:

Meatshield! You may choose a player. If they would have died, you die in their place.

Ubertimmy

Fox

You, quite literally, are cunning as a fox. Your abilities make you presuasive in voting, but of course, no species comes without its drawbacks. You're just an evolving townie.

Stage 1:

You have to play defensive for the cubs. The only votes you may make while on stage 1 are OMGUS – that is, to vote for a player, that player must be already voting you.

Stage 2:

During the first night, you must choose a person. For the next day, you may only vote for whoever your target is voting or nobody at all.

Stage 3:

Normal townie.

Stage 4:

You get an extra vote.

Stage 5:

The night on stage 4, you pick a player. You will get to control that player's vote as well as your own. You sneaky bastard you.

Rosso Carne

Phoenix

You are the legendary bird known as the phoenix. As you have few special powers, this makes you just a townie, but you are hard to kill. If you make it to the end of your life, any death will cause you to rise back up.

Stage 1:

As you are a fledgling, at night, you must target a player. While you can still die normally, if your target dies, you will die as well.

Stage 2:

If you participate in the lynching bandwagon, you will end up dying.

Stage 3:

Normal Townie

Final Note: Ubertimmy agreed not to vote for Fritzler on Day Eight, and Fritzler refused to kill again for Night Eight, so this was a case of "They Lived Happily Ever After..."

Firstly, I would like to say that PJ wins at life. I randomly disappeared multiple times, and he held down the fort quite admirably. Seriously. 99% of the Votecounts, posts, and work were PJ. I made the setup.

Secondly, I would like to say that PJ wins at life. Seriously. If I had been comod, I would have smacked me numerous times. He took on much more than he bargained for. He more or less (hint: more) ran this game.

Thirdly, the roles. I will beg to differ on power imbalances - some individual roles were quite powerful, and intentionally so. I think each individual

, however, had reasonable chances of winning. Some of the truly ridiculous ones, such as the unkillable doctor, could simply be avoided with devolvery.

Fourthly, the roles. Everyone confirmed to play within 24 hours, which is still unbelievably awesome. However, I felt pressure to kick the game off earlier than I really should have - PJ had indeed not reviewed the roles properly. I plead guilty to that charge, but there was a reason.

Fifthly, the roles. One of my biggest mistakes in making this game was making the roles far too complicated. Given that the whole "evolution" thing was a new mechanic (and semi-succesful, I think. I liked the fact that even though some people like powerful power roles and some people like practically mountainous, there was some part of the game for everyone. That got somewhat killed by me trying to be too tricky. Namely, if I went around again, the changes would include:
-Everyone would have an evolutionary progression
-The progression would mirror their original role more closely - A cop would always make 1 nightchoice, always investigative
-No confusing devolvery; at least not the first time around.
-More townies
-Much more simplistic scum groups; potentially symmetrical scum groups.

...although, to be fair, I had just under 72 completely unique roles to come up with, and it's hard to make them all simplistic without too much symmetry.

Sixthly, the roles. Although they were misplaced in this particular game, I was particularly fond of the double scum-masons. I hate scum masons, but when paired together, I think it makes for an interesting situation (when do you begin to doubt the mason, if you know that the mod was willing to corrupt the mason group in the first place?)

Seventhly, the game. I sat in a corner and cried myself to sleep when chamber tried to counterclaim PBuG as cop. It was all downhill from there - PBuG made a reasonably dumb promise to "lynch me next", and the actual wording of role PMs was completely ignored. That really should never have happened.

Eightly, the game. This ending really, really suprised me, given that the game was completly winnable at either point by either player. Prisoner's Dilemma in a nutshell, but I guess it worked out.

Ninthly, all the replacements are made of win. You people kept the game going, and there really were a disturbing number of you needed. Also thanks to Ubertimmy and TSS, who survived for practically the whole game and never needed replacement.

Tenthly, all the players are awesome (although some are considerably more awesome than others see above). This was a high-energy game to play and keep track of.

Eleventhly, PJ wins at life.

Twelfthly, I can't bring myself to break PJ's record.
