Not to be a party-pooper, but maybe we can try to focus on seeing on how we can ferret out the scum and play a succesful game of mafia rather than trying to make it difficult for players to post their thoughts? Posting requirements based on people's usernames? I'm having a hard time distinguishing posts in this game from those in "the bar" or "things I've ingested in the past half hour."

Vote: God
for being one of the first, if not the first, to pursue the username-based posting restrictions.

I'll save my new rule for now, until I can think of some way to make it useful to the town, seeing as how we've already wasted much of our potency.

Can I just say:

a) Yay for PolarBoy, for spending some time thinking instead of just talking,

and

b) This game has serious mechanical flaws. We are supposed to determine on our own whether or not a rule is fair, and then decide whether or not we want to follow it in the first place? If modargo's rule is unfair, then presumably there are at least half of us that have broken some rule along the way and are now not allowed to post, and posted anyway. What then? What if we break the non-posting rule?

I mean no personal offense, mlaker, but the planning that went in to this game is so far below what needs to be put into a mafia game (let alone one of this intricacy), that it not even remotely fun. A mafia game needs structure, and this game has none. I think the game idea could work, but only with an attentive mod who had though of several thousand possible contingencies before unleashing it on fellow players.

My vote stays on gnome boy.

I'm just going to lob this out there: Does anyone think that maybe the lack of effort put into designing this game means role-revelation is appropriate. Think about it: There's probably not too much subtlety into which roles are good and which are evil. If we all reveal our roles (say, in a random order), we'll nail anyone who duplicates a role and then we can lynch from all the suspicious claims.

Not, of course, that this is really still mafia, but I play to win and I think this might be a good idea.

I agree Gnome is still very suspicious, I'm glad Calvinball is over, I hope PolarBoy can replace someone (that is quite hilarious), and I look forward to the rest of this game.

I think there was some confusion over my last post. I was not intimating that the roles present in the game would be predictable, just that once roles were stated, which ones were evil and which ones were good would be relatively obvious.

There are certainly arguments against the mass role-claim, but mostly that they don't work in most games. I think this is probably not most games.

I'm normally against lynching people just for their ideas (he says as he proposes a no lynch in another game....), but I have to agree that korais666's post sure
feels
a little scummy.

I'll hold off my vote for now, but I guess I'll throw a

FOS: korais666

I'm just as stumped as the rest of us. I guess I'll
vote: no lynch
for now, although I doubt it'll actually happen.
PB: Well, for one, CoolBot has stated reasons. For myself, I just found korais' above post suspisious. It wasn't the advocation of the no lynch, it was the feigning of indecision. I feel like the "Well, I really don't know what to do...let me struggle with it a bit out loud and then offhandedly suggest no lynch" was a pretty good scum indication.

I agree that Clone revelation would probably either be best case unhelpful and worst case, disastrous.

No, I think a
mass
revelation would be a bad idea. But I think it's important that the town knows what the calvin clones do...so I am verifying the claim that they are vanilla townies.

Unvote: Breakdown, Vote: God
.

Though I'm admittedly not
confirmed
innocent, I probably am. I've verified that clones are vanilla townies with no abilities and a reference to the teachers being aliens in the flavour text. Since I had no real argument against Breakdown, this seems much stronger than that bandwagon.

While I appreciate the
sentiment
of your last post, it's not really true. There was a proposal to lynch Untrod Tripod, so God's plan was at least a step up from that (at least, to Untrod Tripod).

But unfrotunately, I still thik Untrod is innocent. I certainly wouldn't care if he ended up dead in the morning, though...*winks at the mafia*

UT, just go through with the plan. We can work out the results in the morning.

In the meantime, let's lynch God.

I agree that Hobbes isn't necessarily pro-town, but I'd say it's a pretty safe bet, at least for the time being.

However, I'm not sure that an unlimited kill vigilante is that rare. I consider the default vigilante to be unlimited kill, with the occasional need for restriction. Usually there's no need to, as the vig rarely uses his kill ability (unless played by bloojay). At least, this was the norm when I started playing...maybe the times are a-changin' on this site.

And Hobbes' innocence is further emphasized by the fact that the clones were
told
the teachers were aliens (i.e. evil). If we were working from scratch, I'd be open to keeping Hobbes listed as an unknown, but given this information, Hobbes certainly doesn't seem to fit in any mold with the teachers.

I see your point, but I haven't voted for Breakdown in a long time. My personal thoughts are that God is the most suspicious, and this was of my own thinking. At some point, however, you have to concede that your candidate for lynch is not the favorite and jump on whichever other candidate is strongest. I temporarily thought this was CoolBot, butt hen came to my senses.

Oh ho! You never read Intrigue mafia, then, did you? Not that you should, of course, but man can I jump bandwagons on a dime. Honeslty, I'll confess as to not having put much effort in to this game as a whole. Thus, less thinking and more hopping means I'm more likely to be ending up following someone else's reasoning without much of my own. If I were mafia, I'd probably be putting in more effort.

I'm going to take an anti-no-lynch stance as well. The mafia's just going to pick us off one by one unless we figure out stuff about this game. Mechanics, roles, etc. If that means possibly sacrificing a townie, then so be it.
