The simple fact is, if we really want to speculate on the setup, it might be better to go into night and hope we are de-double-headed and we end up with 9 tomorrow, instead of 7 (Or in the case of staying double-headed, 8 and 6 respectively.) because I doubt that scum are paired together, we would only have 1 shot at scum, and we would have 3/4 deaths.-

Not that I've had time to more then skim the first few pages (I was at school.)
I concur with this meta, since I've played in games with him, but I can't say I really advocate the usage of it. I'd say it's a null tell at best, but it seems odd to bring up the statistics of him being scum. And the fact that you have nearly three posts in a row of his history. o_O And why did you feel the need to vote him twice withing a seven minute span?ortolan wrote:just a quick comment to avoid Empking possibly taking me to the gallows with him:
He has a scummy (very scummy) meta, please read his recent games and see how likely he is to be lynched versus how many times he actually is scum (no offense, Empking). Yes, I am trying to save my own skin here-

I use 'odd' in the sense that it's curious. You know. Odd.ortolan wrote:"odd" is a euphemism for scummy, you are suggesting there was something untoward about my action.
What was wrong with voting Empking again? He did *exactly* the same thing also, voting Brandi twice in a row. His vote invalidated mine so I don't see how it's not perfectly reasonable to re-direct the vote (and I knew he was just going to change it back a minute after I posted anyway). And maybe my reasoning was that I didn't like the Brandi vote? Perhaps even if I didn't feel strongly about it I preferred an Empking lynch to a Brandi one, in which case changing the vote was justified? Perhaps, after all, it was a joke?
Well, when you vote Emp you are essentially self voting. And, I never said anything was wrong with it. I said it was odd. I had more a 'problem' with the meta defense (the rather in depth one) then the votes. You can't have it both ways - you can't bring up another scenario when that is not the one you said it was. Do you stick with that it was merely a joke, or do you sway to your new scenario?-

I agree with it, however, I'm not the one using it in his defense to prevent him from possibly being lynched. I think at this point, scum are most vunerable when paired with someone normally perceived as super scummy.ortolan wrote: And how is it odd, anyway- you agree with my characterisation of his meta as scummy, why do you take issue with me presenting evidence for such? Not quite sure what you're getting at with the first sentence (then again, I have been falling on ice today, so it might just be me.) Yes, but I would think selfvoting yourself twice is odder then voting someone else. If by 'drawing attention' would mean that I gave my opinion, I'll make sure to stay mum in the future.ortolan wrote:
Nup, the point was that prior to my clarification, there were any number of valid explanations for me voting Empking twice (and he did exactly the same thing to me in changing his vote back to whoever it was, which you failed to mention). Yet apparently you felt the need to draw attention to it.SG (159) wrote:You can't have it both ways - you can't bring up another scenario when that is not the one you said it was. Alright, I hear what you're saying - but doesn't 'mean I should be 'forcibly deprived' of my opinion should I? I didn't think it was scummy, merely odd/curious/weird, and that's all I wanted to say on the matter.ortolan wrote:
Two things: first of all, we're dealing with "self-voting" in the conventional sense to begin with- voting for myself and another is not the same thing.SG (167) wrote:Not quite sure what you're getting at with the first sentence (then again, I have been falling on ice today, so it might just be me.) Secondly, we're not really dealing with "doing it twice" either, because the reason I re-voted was that Empking changed the vote, effectively validating my vote on him in the first place, so I revoted to re-instate a vote I had been forcibly deprived of.-

URoE, all the votes that are on ort were on him before I made my comment, I believe.
I was aware that Emp was ort's partner, seeing as I commented on the meta defense ort gave on him, which I intended to be the main focus of my comment, not so much the voting. And I've already mentioned that it's not a scum tell, and specifically specified that it was null tell. o_O-

Actually, we just finished the conversation on it - by my concluding sentence about it all.
It began with :
thenortolan wrote:Because of crap posts like 94 (by you, btw) which implied you still hadn't grasped my facetious intention.
And let up to the usage of the word odd.ortolan wrote:Not at all, but you are simply wrong if you think it makes me scummy. You are also wrong for suggesting I repeated myself when the clarification and more explicit language was itself prompted by you saying "I don't understand why he vote Empking twice" which isn't valid when the action has already been explained as in jest. Either dispute my classification of my vote on Empking as a joke, or agree with it, but don't use weasel words to suggest the mere fact I voted Empking twice (when the reason was that he himself reversed my vote anyhow) is somehow scummy.-

Hn. I was looking more at the fact that you thought that I didn't know they were partners.
Still, I still believe that even if it was deemed a joke that I shouldn't just ignore it. (Perhaps bias on my part from the last large theme game I was in that had one scum deem something a joke, and then go for the win.) Anyway, I hadn't intended to further talk about said point until ort had brought it up.-

Er, aren't we not supposed to be talking about ongoing games?julienvonwolfe wrote:
I confess that I'm not sure what to think of URoE. I've been playing with him in another, ongoing game and he's a difficult player to read. My general view of him that I got from the last game is that he isn't really a cautious player, so he's acting a bit differently in this game.
Then again, he's suggesting a no-lynch. This is normally a bad thing, but given the risk of lynching not just one, but two townies - it might be OK. Caution in suggesting such an idea is understandable.
Thus, I'm not prepared to vote for him yet. I don't know what my partner thinks.-

I don't know what you're thinking about with 'terrible feeling'. Do you mean the absences? I don't think lying about RL conditions is... particularily right, but I suppose some people could do it to buy time and skate through - as per the promising to make a post that has more substance, about the vote.
What I see is that there's not really a lot of substance or content in it, for one. And they're rather vague - that KMD convinced him, coupled with an unvote completely changed his mind. Which on it's own doesn't seem too good, but there's no other comment on it.
The 'determining who is scummy' didn't seem to catch my attention at the time since I believed this was her first game/she hadn't completed (from the join date) but I now that I scanned her posts that isn't the case.-

Why does this seem to me like scum trying to instill WIFOM?Santos wrote:Furthermore, if we fail in a lynch today (no lynch, or town lynch) scum will probably NK UR which will make it a great reason to have me lynched by saying I now have a personal vendetta against UR; I don't.
If we hit scum, then, well, you know...hurray!
I didn't realize the both of you were close to lynch. As well, aren't the two votes on you from people who haven't checked in for awhile? Seems a little bit like you're a little too concerned for self-preservation.ort wrote:Shame it took Kmd to make essentially the same arguments as me but in more detail to get his wagon off the ground, but it needs more votes before an incompetent town mislynches the pair of me and increasingly obv-town Empking.
I do however agree with you that Narsis doesn't seem to be producing any original ideas.
My mind isn't quite in tune with this game at moment - I need to do a small reread and see exactly who I want to vote for.-

Considering we're one day away lynch, I hope you would be more inclined to vote people who you believe are scummy. Well, you should be voting for you want toLawrencelot wrote:I've become less sure that ort or empking is scum (I do want to hear from ort why empking is obvtown), and this also counts for slicey.Unvote. I don't like populartajo's play in this game, but I'm not sure if it's scummy. Santos is the only of the 'big wagons' that i like, but he's attached to BSG so I'd rather wait with Santos till later.
Vote: populartajofor now.lynch.
I don't understand this post. :/ Is it basically saying that lynching a scum is better then lynching townies?Santos wrote:@Lawrencealot, why are you not voting for me when you keep saying you want to vote for me? My understanding is that if we want to lynch scum, it might as well go along with one townie too because 1 scum is better than lynching two townie (heads), no?
I need to evaluate who I want to vote for. As of recently I haven't been leaning towards Emp/Ort (partially because I believe Emp to be town). I agree with Slicey on this point, as well as on Sanatos. Don't have a read on BSG, though. Sanatos, I believe, still strikes me as not really contributing much.
I don't like Narsis that because it's day one that most of his thoughts are null, and that he's kind of fence sitting.
I'd like a vote count and prods : Killa Seven, Braeden,
Raider's thoughts would be nice.
I'll try and get a reread in of this thread because I feel I need to refresh my mind of the entire thing.-

Are you saying that being on this lynch only makes you believes the people who are on it are town?
Would your opinion of the change if, in fact Slicey is town? Suffice to say, I believe Slicey is town at this moment (not sure about IT - he hasn't said much) and will not be voting him at this current time.
Would an extension be possible? We've had multiple inactive players who I believe need a replacement... :/
Grr. I don't know if I'm going to be on for the lynch. However, I do believe we are lynching two townies and scum is likely on the wagon.-
