OK, we need something to talk about. So here's a big one:

Should we mass claim?

in popcorn fashion? The last time i participated in one, it did not end well. The scum either came up with plausible claims or had safe claims. Town of course tell the truth on their claims, so scum can end up getting more out of this than town. It all depends on if they have safe claims.

If we are going to do it, I would suggest the popcorn method, where we pick the scummiest seeming person we can find to be the first claim, then they choose the next oerson etc etc. The goal being to get the scum claiming first, so that they can't just go at the end and pick an unclaimed justice league member.

i think i gave m anser, i ended this sad little merrygoround. it was a stupid joke of an idea and i put a stop to it. so lets get back to things relevant and helpful


also, mass claim =/= a good idea.

I could be persuaded to a mass claim, a mass "claim who we're not" is useless though. How hard can it be for scum to pick a name off a big list of Justice Leaguers and say "I'm not them". It gains us nothing.

neither does a massclaim. It just gains the scum all the usual info they need on who they need to kill first.

can't be sure. If the scum have no safe claims, and if the popcorn process manages to pick some scum early, then they have tpo risk picking someone who is going tpo be counter claimed.

On reflection I agree that a mass claim would be a bad thing. It would most likely lead to voting based on perceived patterns in the characters claimed, I think we will be better served going the old fashioned route of lynching people for behaving in a scummy fashion

The problem with the mass claim is that there are a myriad of Justice League heroes. Looking at wikipedia nets over 100 members. Now, I'm not sure which of those are well known, but it still seems unlikely to actually catch a scum lying. I will support a mass claim, however, because I find it difficult for scum to correlate roles with abilities.

So you think a mass claim will be unlikely to out scum, but you want to go ahead anyway? Why do you want to gift scum the townie identities? The only reason for this is if you believe there is a good chance of outing scum, so that the tradeoff has a net advantage.

I like Capricious's line of thought, but disagree with its conclusion.

That's kind of my point. Capricious makes a good case for a mass claim being anti-town, and then about turns and says lets do it....

Re-reading, I like WhoMe? as scum here much more. He seems to say, "Well, the last time it ended badly...but here's how we should do it!" I liked what we had to say about Capricious (even though I disagreed entirely with his conclusion for different reasons), but in the context of his earlier posts, he appears hypocritical in accusing Capricious of being wishy-washy on massclaiming.

the reason I seem wishy washy is that I am ambivalent as to whether a mass claim would be pro-town or anti-town. It all depends on information I don't have. Do the scum have safe claims? Would we be successful in getting them to claim first? Do the roles we have fit any sort of pattern etc etc. The point I had against Capricious, was him laying out all the reasons it was a bad thing for town, and then promoting it.

I just mean the popcorn method. If the town is lucky with their picks, scum feature further up the list, so there is more chance of a counter claim as they have less info to make up their claims from.

WhoMe, why did you just claim a named role? You don't know for a fact if the rest of us have names, and if we're smart about it, none of us are going to tell you.

Yep, I did. This is because of what I believe about the game, though when I go back to read the initial post there is no confirmation of my belief, so my bad maybe. My belief is that we ALL have names. Good guys have justice league names, bad guys have bad guy names. I wouldn't be surprised if every good guy has a power relating to their name. Don't know if the same would apply for scum.

If I were scum I would not go after superman over aquaman. I would be quite clueless about what to do. Mods are intelligent, they always like to throw twists in.

Very happy with my vote. This is just disingenuous, I accept that the game dosn't have to parallel the comic books exactly, but in this situation you would off superman in a trice, and to claim you wouldn't just makes me think you are reaching for excuses to continue your mass claim quest.
