When someone says "Whats your case, or make a case" - I think thats scummy
When you layout points people can quibble and pettifog endlessly, you aren't doing yourself or the town any favors. I'd rather just write a paragraph or two, aim a well-timed vote that can swing general moods, play to people's weakness, etc. I'm playing to the crowd, not whoever I think is scum. What would I have to discuss with him? I'm not saying close all channels of communication; just dont get involved in back and forths with the guy you think is scum. You dont need to convince him, lol. Finding scum/getting people to vote someone isn't some super logical process. People who tend to make it as such are usually just bad or scum.watch for the eggshells-

oh u.
People think cases should be these Spockian airtight vacuums that perfectly represent why someone is scum. Its kinda silly. I think in a lot of mafia player's minds (on MS) they have this glorified idea of the "case" that can never be lived up to, and yet in vain they desperately claw towards it, hoping one day they might actually make the perfect "case". Unless someone slipped, blatantly lied, has a guilty, whatever - almost every case will have holes. Its apart of the game.watch for the eggshells-

I sort of agree with the Junpei's post actually, its expecting too much of people. Timing is everything. If you post below someone who just posted a pretty scummy post and you only respond with a vote, people will be likely to sheep. That being said for that specific situation I'm talking about its probably best if you haven't had any interactions with said votee.
I think MS deals with "cases" in a similar fashion EM deals with using "fos" (note I am originally an MS player, but I do love EM). When someone foses someone in EM, its a kind of a big deal and there is a sort of pageantry and ritual to it. It seems like a lot of MS players feel there needs to be an "official case" done by someone to get anyone lynched. Its extremely hard to properlybe a mob, to have that mob mentality, when everything is so slowed down compared to normal forms of mafia.
IMO a big part of being decent at mafiascum is being subservise/subtle enough to manipulate this flaw in the long-form version of the game.watch for the eggshells-

Yos you need to be specific and clarify exactly when and where you are talking about the application of logic. I feel most of the people in this thread were talking about logic in the sense as it applies to reads and scumhunting in general, not some specific aspect of the endgame. =/watch for the eggshells-

uhh duh? my point and I think many other peoples points were that "logical" (note the quotation marks) cases are often far from the mathematical, formal logic you seem to be talking about. When someone makes a case, they think they are being logical, but then person B makes a case, and he thinks he's being "logical", person C makes a case against person B and she thinks she's being "logical". 99% of the time its just pseudo intellectual bullshitwatch for the eggshells-

I think its both weird and interesting the way MS has developed and grown its own lexicon surrounding certain terms (gut and logic for instance). Pinpointing the exact meanings of such words as defined by this community (in the context of mafia) might be enlightening. And entertaining.watch for the eggshells-

What about making cases semi-official likefos.
Boiling them down into the most simple terms so you can useCase.
Case:I think mastin is scum for these reasons. Early game he was posting way too much. Its not apart of his meta at all to act like that. The way he came out of nowhere and defended Cyberbob, that was pretty scummy. Also he has been prone throw out a lot of meaningless reads and lists like the time he said Vi, Chesskid, and Uberninja were all town with dubious reasoning. His voting habits have been lazy, I dont think I've been convinced at his genuineness once when he's placed a vote. To top it off, he hasn't attempted VCA or posted a wall once!watch for the eggshells-
