kieron wrote: Yeah, I could see that it wouldn't be as much fun, but...WHY is it generally accepted to be bad for the town?
Because, information is what wins the game, and lynching is the best way for definite information. Plus, other leads develop as a lynch draws near.

Now, we especially need to lynch Day One in a Newbie Game. In essence, we have two chances to hit at least one scum. Try this :

Code: Select all

Lynch Pro-Town Day 1 : No-Lynch Day 1
6 Remain : 7 Remain
Mafia successful Night 1 : Mafia Successful Night 1
5 Remain : 6 Remain
Day 2 is lynch right or lose : Day 2 is lynch right or lose

A similar graphic to the one above was shown to me when I asked the same question you did, kieron. If you need further explanation, please feel free to ask away.

I was going to bring in the doc in a final couple of sentences, but I hit "Submit" instead of "Preview."

Of course, LC, if the doc is successful, then it greatly increases the town's chances of winning. However, one must prepare for the worst, and hope for the best.

The lynch scenario IS seemingly better, because you have less people to choose to be scum.

I'll probably be gone for the most part of this week. I may drop in during schooltime, but that's only about 20 minutes worth. Sorry about this, but studying is just a WEEEEEEE bit more important. OK, that's all for now.

Yay, I'm able to drop in tonight. Maybe I can post at this time, in addition to my school time.

On to the game. Right now, the only suspicious comment I've read is:
JDTAY wrote:Personally, I think you're adding a bit too much content, Myopia. You're giving the mafia (and/or town) tons of ammunition to attack you with. When on the first day, keep it simple and make sure you don't say anything you have to take responsibility for unless you have a strong suspicion or solid information. In later days you can attack people as they attack you, when everyone has ammunition.
Not a real good feel to this paragraph. Maybe it's the wording or tone, but it doesn't seem much like what a pro-town person would post. In my opinion, all JDTAY gives from the above is a possible excuse for attacking Myopia later on.

Locus wrote: Mind explaining why inHim and I top your list?
I find this post fairly suspicious. I think it's scummy play to bring someone into the picture with yourself. And, I feel scum would post this in hopes that the town would not suspect them because they defended someone else.

And then, I really distrust anyone who posts something along the lines of "If I were scum" or "Do you really think I would have done this as scum?" I find this a fairly weak defense, because there's no telling what scum would do to save their skin. This approach is also very manipulative, because it would tend to make a reader automatically assume the posting player is not scum, a very useful mafia tactic. So, along those lines, I suspect Myopia and Locus for posting these hypothetical statements.

Locus elicited a negative reaction from me twice in the same page, and I now find him most suspicious.

Reread tonight and found the above. I'm fairly sure Tal's brought this forth before in her own suspicions, but this comment keeps me happy with my vote. LC seems like he has a good grasp of the game, and should know that JDTAY's claim is good, making this question more of a ploy for us to doubt the doctor.

I'd also like to hear from Myopia upon his return. I found a couple of stand-outs, though, in the meantime.

Something about KingEnigma's Posts 165 & 167 is suspicious to me. I think first off that
(Note: I am not lynch happy, we are 7 days in, and we've probably got as much info as we can on day 1)
seems like a defense against an unvoiced attack, and then
Just voicing opinion.
isn't really necessary. Besides concrete results, I'd say just about all posts are of one's opinion, especially on Day One.

OK, and now I read your latest post, and ::SMACKS FOREHEAD::.

Did you not just see where Talitha knows that
she herself
is protown (which is definitely something good to know :P ) and that she
thinks
Myopia is protown? A good rule of thumb in these games is to read before firing accusations.

I'd like to read a bit of new content from Myopia when he wakes up and posts, and then I'm pretty convinced for whom I'm voting.

JDTAY - Dmi claimed plain townie, one page back.

Well, I think King Enigma should claim first, even if I'm pretty confident Talitha's our cop. Stranger things have happened, though, so I'd rather wait for KE to post. Myopia, you kind of raised my suspicions by wanting JDTAY to vote without giving KE a chance to speak. Hmmm. . .

I am definitely leaning toward one person having much more chance being scum than the other, at this moment. I'm going to take a day or so, though, to post a good statement on the person-in-question's scumminess.

Up to this point in the game, I'm pretty certain KingEnigma is our second Mafioso. My suspicions go back to whom he replaced (kieron). Also, I find it VERY unlikely for Myopia to be scum at this point. He was at it tooth and nail against Locus all Day 1. I would have expected to read a bit of relenting if they were partners. Also, Locus never really commented on kieron’s play Day 1, except for some minor corrections (page 3, I think).

There are the two posting quirks from KE that I’ve commented on – they raised flags to me, but the above statements are stronger reasons for my future vote.

Once I’ve heard from both Myopia and KE again I’ll be ready to end this day.

Myopia, I think you just confirmed my suspicions on KingEnigma. I make no apologies for my posts - only that I wasn't around much toward the beginning of Day 1.

As for my "almost lazy" attacks, all I can say is that I look for flags in a player's posts and work from there. I seriously believed Locus was scum (which we now know is a fact) because of what I had brought up, until Dmi came along.

To answer any questions about me having to know who the cop was : I didn't want to lynch Dmi if KE counterclaimed Talitha - this would have definitely given us one scum. Looking back, I shouldn't have kept my vote on Dmi because of this possible situation - my error. As for why I asked after JDTAY cast the lynching vote? I just wanted to know, and feel secure. The Mafia would know who the real cop was anyway, so I don't think there's much cause to suspect me in that aspect.

No, it's not the main reason why you seem most scummy. What I've mentioned are just my own little alerts I read in posts that cue me to watch a player. After I went back, it was kieron's play and my major disbelief in Myopia being scum which point me toward you.
