So for the record in this case, I really didn't need to guess 22222, that's good to know for me. That's 1 wasted guess. I already knew where the 2 was.

So obviously we're throwing out multiple guesses to speed up our testing but in the real deal we'll get one at a time.  If we get a lucky spread like this number we can reduce the number of probing guesses needed.

Yeah either way we seem to be in a 6-9ish solve range.

I'm interested to see how Sam's method works for this, but at the least we have a solid strategy pending ridiculously lucky guesses.

Also communication after each guess is going to be absolutely key, because if I had someone helping me they could have let me know that 22222 was a bad guess. So before we post we should at least have 1 person look over the guess and make sure we don't already know the information.

The method that has been workshopped the most in this thread seems solid, but we should definitely try Sam's method if there is time just because it's so different.

Still trying to figure things out but I *think* you've landed on a winner here. My one concern with Writer's method is the possibility of three numbers being the same, when that number is one of the ones you only use twice in your tests.

I'm not actually even sure that trips it up though, it's just a concern. Also quite a bit of an edge case and not one I'd expect them to go for.
