Challenge 5: Building A Case
« on: July 08, 2020, 05:00:24 pm »

Another case came in.  It looks like this time there's been a murder. We have a few suspects, but we're not sure which case is the strongest and we need things to be airtight before we call a judge for a warrant.

We have a deck containing 18 cards that will help your case. Each tribe will be dealt five of them.  Select a card to keep. The tribes will then swap decks and choose another card. This will continue until each team has kept five cards.  At this point there will be a scoring break.

Once the first round is scored, each tribe will pick one of their cards to keep permanently, and another one of their cards to be removed from the game entirely.  The remaining cards will be reshuffled into the deck, hands of five will be dealt to each tribe, and we will repeat the process. Round 2 will end with another scoring break, and another decision of keeping a card permanently/removing a card from the game.  The remaining cards will get reshuffled, and then the final round will start.

Whichever tribe has the most cumulative points after three rounds will have put together the best case and will win immunity for their efforts.

Grouch Cop will be sitting out of this challenge for BAU

Here are the cards. Each card has a type (Affidavit, Clue, Crime Scene, Lab Report, and Witness) that is indicated by the symbol on top of the card. There are three cards that do not have a type.

Five minutes. That being said, if it's unanimous you want Card X, please don't stall for the whole five minutes.

How much information will be made public at each of the scoring breaks? Just scores from the round, or all cards that the team had for that round?

All cards will be played publicly. You will know what everybody played between each swap.

Could you explain Help From the Feds? Is it simply just a +8 card or is there a different meaning?

I think if you score the most points of a single card you get an additional +8. If the other team does, you don't get any points?

Say you have two Clues and the Passerby card. The Passerby card gets you six points. If the other tribe doesn't earn six or more points from any one individual card, then the Help From Feds gives you an extra eight.

Basically do you have the highest-scoring single card in the round? If so, have some points.

Ah I see, that helps thanks!

Additionally, do we pick 5 cards in each round plus whatever cards we have saved or do we always end the round with a 5 card hand?

I.e. is it
Round 1 - Five Cards then Score Break
Round 2 - Six Cards (1 Saved) then SB
Round 3 - Seven Cards (2 Saved) then SB

or
Round 1 - Five Cards then SB
Round 2 - Five Cards (1 Saved) then SB
Round 3 - Five Cards (2 Saved) then SB

Does having a majority in a certain suit mean that a majority of our cards in our hand is from that suit or that we have more of those cards than the other tribe?
