You did good, managed to save yourself with an idol and even survive a couple of TC's afterwards

This is going to be a juicy thread

Damn! Sorry to see you here. Hope you don’t hold anything against me for what I said or did during the merge, most of it was me being a bit tired of the game (especially since I had work) and making sure people voted for me to give Penny and Rust time to regroup and recover.

I agree that we butted heads ingame, but you would probably be my favorite character-wise from a spectator perspective. Well played.

(Also— were you really a last-minute replacement? If not, that was a really good play to get me to underestimate you. If so, you should really be proud of making top 8 despite that.)

Huh. I actually wasn't expecting this. Damn, I was actually hoping you'd get to stay around and cause people problems.

Water under the bridge. It threw grit in the gears of my game, but that's Survivor.

FWIW, I think I managed to avoid outright lies until the last couple of hours when I was scrambling to survive.

Ugh, this piss-yellow filter on my avatar does NOT do it any favors.

Yes, I was. Summer is extremely busy for me, I'd wanted to spectate. When the mods offered me a spot anyway, though, I couldn't say no.

Huh! You played much better than most replacements I’ve seen. I fear what you’re capable of when not busy.

Would you also believe it's only my second game?

Nope. I’ve played ~8-10 games before and none of them had the same finesse you did at any point. Only person I’m aware of who did pick up on what you were doing were me and Lennie.

Again, you're going to have to clarify. What was I doing?

Also, really, second game over here.

Most of what you're attributing to malice was stupidity.

Oh yeah, no, I totally get it. My second game I was stupid as well. I just took you for a more experienced player, and was a bit harsh in judging you. Apologies for that.

Cool, glad we cleared the air. I learned a lot from this game, and wouldn't repeat those mistakes.

I expected this thread to have a lot more content for some reason :P

I wanted to just come right in and apologize again for that first merge vote. I know we said a lot in our goodbye messages but I just wanted to make sure I got it out now that the game for us is officially over :) I think you played a fantastic game and could have made it very far even despite that majority vote on you had the F8 not turned out the way it did.

We’re good, Penelope. I held some grudges during gameplay but it’s Survivor. Once removed from the pressure cooker, I remember it’s a game.

Also, I was not ready to learn that this is only your 2nd game??? Amazing gameplay for that :P This is FAR from my second game and I still have a lot to learn from you :)

A major lesson here is that I need to take into account the position and perspective of potential allies beyond their utility to my own plans. At merge, I imagined you untethered and grasping for an alliance, rather than a mover in your own right. That doesn’t make objective sense. Fog of war, tunnel-vision, call it what you will.

PE: This was also while working ~60-70 hours a week.

In actuality, I felt like I was pretty secure with what I had. I had a few strong ties with Poirot/Rust/Pika/You and even a bit with Scruff and Lennie, but at that point it felt very tenuous. Was I anyone's 2nd?? Definitely not, but I didn't appreciate being painted as your own sheep, tied only to you as I worried that would just make me an easy boot later down the line so I thought flipping on my "one connection" would solidify those ties I did have. I think it worked in the short run.

And goodness??? I had absolutely nothing to do but this game and you were working 60-70 hours a week??? Thank god we sent you home, get some rest :P

Never again during the summer season.

Never.

This is pretty much the only time I can do it so I guess we're never competing against each other again :P
