If I'm interpreting this rule correctly

In the event that a player knows he or she will be unable to vote by deadline, that player may notify the moderators and cast a conditional vote to avoid penalization.

then casting a vote prior to the challenge would count as a conditional vote so I don't see why not.

If Sherlock disagrees when he wakes up I will defer to his interpretation but for now this is how it is.
