Hello Ponyboys, it's been a while since we last met. What? You don't remember me, what a shame. Well it's me..
Pegasus. What? You expected a horse, but my name IS a horse. Anyway, knowing that I, creator of duel monsters, am here, that can only mean one thing. That's right! It's time for a CARD GAME!
Unfortunately, people complained about having a Yugioh challenge thrown in for no reason so instead you will be playing a different card game. And let's have you do something fun...I dunno, how about wrangling bulls.
For today's challenge two members of each tribe will be selected to play in a 6 player game of 6 nimmt! on board game arena. The game works as follows.
Playing the gameThe deck consists of 64 cards, numbered 1 -64. everypony starts a round with 10 cards in their hand. Four cards are placed on the table to start four rows. Every player secretly chooses a card, and then all of the cards are revealed at the same time. When the cards are revealed, they are placed on the ends of rows, from lowest value played to highest, following two rules:
1. cards are always placed in ascending order. 2. cards are always placed next to the card on the board with the smallest difference between them.
As play progresses, the rows will fill up with cards - at five cards, a row is full. If somepony's card would go onto a full row, that player has to pick up all of the cards in that row, and they lose as many points as there are "beef heads" on the cards (different cards are worth different amounts - more on that in a moment). The card that the person played becomes the starting point of a new row.
If somepony plays a card that is lower than the numbers at the end of all of the rows, then that player must take a row of their choice, and start a new row in its place with their card.
Bull headsEach card has a number of bull heads on it - this indicates how many points it is worth when it is picked up.
Cards which end in the number "5" (ex. 5, 15, 25) are worth 2 points. Cards which end in the number "0" (10, 20, 30) are worth 3 points. Cards which have double numbers (11, 22, 33) are worth 5 points. The "55" card has both a "5" and double numbers, and is worth 7 points. All other cards are worth 1 point.
End of a roundOnce a round ends, if nopony has lost all of their points, then a new round begins. If somepony is out of points, then the game is over. After the game is over, the scores of the members of each tribe will be added. The tribe whose sum is the lowest will be going to tribal council. In the case of a tie, the tiebreaker will be the tribe that had the person who got the least points in the game (of the eligible tribes).
You can practice the game at:
https://en.boardgamearena.com/#!gamepanel?game=sechsnimmt But if you do, be sure to use tactics mode, as that will be what we implement during the actual challenge. (Practice still needs to be anonymous though, we will make accounts for that).
Anyway, that's all Ponyboys, I hope you enjoy playing. Now it's your move.
