KE, that's funny, before my post 20, I did a quick meta on you and I must have stumbled on the 2 games where you random voted (one of them was your first newbie game in 2004 - bad sample).

Perusing your recent games, I see that you don't random vote. Carry on.

KingEnigma: So if you don't random vote, how do you generally get games going when you don't know anyone well? mith tends to ask questions, poke at people, and so on; I've contemplated not random voting before, but it seems clear that something has to set the ball rolling. Do you just rely on everyone else random voting?

I ask questions, I poke at people, but I can do all that and not put a vote on that i'm going to be taking off in the very near future.

You are right, something does need to get the ball rolling, but nonsense votes from what little i can tell, never do it.

Sure. But you don't seem to have asked any questions yet.. I'm curious to see this in action. Maybe I'm missing something?

Maybe you could try putting a vote on without the intention to remove it in the near future? I mean, I agree that random voting is pointless if you're just going to remove it after an arbitrary length of time has passed.

I don't think I'm being impatient; in the 'model game' for not random voting, Newbie 465, people ask questions in their first post, even if it's as basic as "are you scum?" - and I can't see any reason to delay doing that. Definitely, if I were not-random-voting, I'd have asked a question or two by now, so I'm curious.

did you not see the "I need a brain" comment. That helped set the tone for the whole post.

So Tarhalindur might have some restriction that requires him to vote for a different person every time he posts. Or he's vote hopping maniacally for some other reason.

Well if he does, he's already breached it with his vote for des.
KingEnigma wrote:uhh, i'm not sure ive ever random voted, i think its pointless and i dont know any of you well enough to go "haha, me and you had this thing from another game and i'm voting for you for absolutely no reason other than that thing from the other game that we had, haha"
So do you think we're still in the random voting 'stage'? If so, what are you doing to try and progress the game forwards? If not, why haven't you voted yet?

Also, those aren't very helpful questions.

Oh, nobody told me they had to be helpful questions.

Random voting stage may be over, but I still dont have anyone to vote for at the moment, so I'm sticking with my not voting for the time being.

Everyone who is voting for someone, why are you still voting for them? Apparently we have moved on, and now you all look scummy! (? I mean you guys need to pick one, you cant keep on me for not voting if your voting for someone that you actually dont think is scum)

cause page 2 is halfway full and besides the Tarcrazies, nobody has placed a vote, so unless i'm missing something I'd say we graduated.

Yeah, at this point, I think these are mostly votes to see peoples' reactions. I also think we're seeing some rather interesting reactions.

Timeater - Nothing to add other than we are out of the random voting stage? If you think we're out of the random stage, why not comment on what's going on?

I'm with Elmo on this one. If you're going to complain about the random stage, do something that is purposeful and not random.

Of course, Grimmy never seems to leave the random stage - even on like Day 3. And he seems to do okay.
