When I've modded games before, I check the game for votes every time I'm on and store them in a spreadsheet, so I'm usually up-to-date enough that it doesn't matter to me either way.

For those instances where it's been a while since I've been able to check I just isolate posts by each player in turn and scroll upward from the bottom to get their most recent vote.

I dunno, I don't hate the idea but for me at least I think it'd be pretty redundant as bolding is almost always effective enough for me to pick them all up anyway..

My point is that it makes it easier for me as a mod, and I do not feel that it is a significant effort on the part of the players.

I don't think it'd make it any easier for me as a mod, to be honest. As a player, it might not be a huge effort, but it's still a pain having to unlearn what has become pretty automatic to most people by now.

If a mod specifically requested it then I'd try my best to remember, but I don't think I'd ever ask players to do it in one of my games simply because it would make no real difference to me so getting them to change an established practice is just completely arbitrary.

The fact that you can't operate with the system that has been working for 5 plus years for the rest of us means that you are 1 of two things. Lazy, or incompetent. Make your choice.

I don't like it because "##Vote" is hideously ugly.

I think there's an important aesthetic quality that goes into mafia, and that takes away a lot of it.

which is odd, since the rule set LG is using is formatted quite nicely, and looks much better on the page than most rule sets do.

the "ugly" objection does have solutions:
see http://www.ascii.cl/htmlcodes.htm for a list of possible alternatives.

That would be fine with me, actually. It's subtle.

Hey, here's an idea: LB implemented a rule in one of his games that used Vote: XX. The colon made it searchable.

you should remember that exploiting voting rules is a tactic some players use, especially right before deadline. The more complicated the voting rules you use, the more room you leave for a discordian player to abuse your rules for their own devices.

Because I usually am interested enough in my modded games to read what's going on, I see all votes as they happen and change them up in a spreadsheet.
For people who want the ## in front of their votes, do you not read the games you're modding? It's not, IMO, hard to see votes while you're reading through the games.

this

the only reason you'd be having trouble with the current system is if you're too lazy to read the game you're fucking modding AND too incompetent to use F3 correctly.

I'm doing it in this game. It's really no problem. Anyone who hasn't tried needs to stop whining, suck it up, and take it like a man. If the mod wants the players to do it, I have no problem, it takes literally .1 seconds more each vote.

What?

Why?

Apparently if you post a MD thread and a few people agree with you, it becomes official policy and anybody whining about it needs to suck it up and take it like a man.
