:

Social Contract

Edit vote counts into the first post of every page.
    III.
Prod players upon request or at my discretion.
    IV.
Answer any and all questions as soon as I can.
    V.
Have a sense of humor and post flavourful posts whenever possible.
All players must promise to do the following:

Activity
- This game will have set deadlines.
  • I.
Deadlines will be set at daybreak to last either (2 x the number of living players) real time days or 10 days, whichever is longer.
    II.
Players who don't post for 72 hours will be prodded and will have a further 48 hours to respond in the game thread. I will prod for inactivity twice only. Failure to pick up prods, respond in thread, or needing a third prod will result in replacement.
    III.
Please notify me if you will be unable to post for more than 48 hours, I will post a message to that effect in the game.
Votes and Lynches
  • I.
Lynches will require a true majority of voters.
    II.
Once a person has a majority of votes they are dead. Any further actions will not stop the lynch.
    III.
If no majority has been reached by deadline there will be no lynch.
    IV.
Votes must be in the format
    ## Unvote: Player, ##Vote: Player

    V.
Players may vote for a no lynch to occur, a majority of votes is require to no lynch.
    VI.
Until the thread is locked, any player, including the lynchee can continue to post.

A black Rolls Royce rolls up to the bridge, traversing a particularly murky branch of the Hudson. First a young man in a navy blue suit climbs out of the car, dusting off his jacket. Then a large man with a cigar butt sticking out of his mouth, and a tall, insidious man in a black suit, his hair graying at the edges. "What will you do? This can only be the beginning." Said the young man, his ice blue eyes without any emotion, he walked to a rail and he picked up a piece of paper held to the rail by a knife.

The peace is over, your time is up. -Town

"I don' know, Bartram, nothin' like 'dis has happened in a 'undred years. I need to go 'inta hidin'. You n' Tony should be fine. Get da guidelines, da only way ta' fix 'dis is mob justice. Yous guys just make sure that dis gets fixed." He looks at the bridge, pieces of what was once a man are strewn across the bridge, blood stains seeped into the wood. The upper body of First Deputy Tate hangs with his hands manacled around the guard rail his fingers bloody and the nails eroded to nothing. And just visible beneath the surface of the water is Sheriff Mulligan, pale and bloated from the water.

"I don' like 'dis one bit, Don. I don' tink 'dat 'dis will work. But you 'da Don." The young man and the old man return quietly to the car, while the large man drops his cigar butt into the river.

You wake up in a room, you and eleven others are sitting in chairs, a few haven't even woken up yet. At the front of the room is a young man in a navy blue suit polishing his pistol. You rush to get up out of the chair but just as you are about to stand up he shoots, just barely missing your ear, the bullet going through the chair you are sitting in and through the wall. "I strongly recommend you stay sitting. You have 24 days to come to a decision, whoever has the majority will be killed. That is all."

Deadline: October 8th, 4:00 PM, PST

Seven Votes to lynch

Five still to confirm. Day One begins now.

Right. On this note, I think it would be generally beneficial to stick to the terms 'mafia'/'scum' for the informed minority and 'town' for the uninformed majority (regardless of theme) to avoid any confusion. Any objections?

clearly
attempting to spread seeds of confusion via variable terminology.

I'd like to stick with the theme. With Innocent Mafia and Scummy townies.

Die, Townie Scum.

I like the sound of that!

I personally relish the chance to laud others for their anti-town activities for once.

Obviously didn't get the message about the mafiosos in this game, and therefore did not likely receive a mafioso role PM.

...

Can we at least use the terms 'innocent' and 'scum' for the uninformed majority / informed minority?

It is obvious that we mafia were innocently going about our business before the dirty scum Townies came in to take over.

My Yankees are my team. Anyone who attacks them attacks me. Sorry if this comes off as rude. Only opinions... Now let's play some mafia.

Camn has already earned my joke vote. How? Anti-Yankee comments contributed of course. Random confusion started it though. Town being bad???

But the Yankees do, objectively speaking, suck. Not by the public standards, but by standards set within the Yankees' own organization. Cashman and Steinbrenner have repeatedly said that for a team being paid this much money not making the playoffs is unacceptable. With the Yankees poised to do just that - that is, be unacceptable and miss the playoffs - it would be hard to argue with logic
within the organization
and say that they do not, in fact, suck. In fact, you're not even in third place anymore (by a game, admittedly), a fact that conveniently ignores that at 79-70, or 9 games over .500, the Yankees would be no worse than 4.5 games back in two of the other divisions in baseball (AL Central and NL East) and would in fact lead the NL West. To a Baltimore Orioles fan like myself, a 79-70 record certainly does not suck, but again we need to refer back to expectations from within first before we branch outward.

To say that the Yankees suck is therefore necessarily correct, and that necessity comes from the foremost authority on the Yankees, the Yankees. To say anything else - to, say, come to their defense, or simply to say that the Yankees do not suck - is in fact anti-Yankees behavior. If the Yankees say they suck then they suck and nobody else's opinion should be considered in the discussion above their own.

Why do you claim to love the Yankees yet display such anti-Yankees behavior, Kmd?
