This game is hitting all sorts of weird nostalgia notes. I don't think I've been in a game of mafia on this site in a very long time (the last invitational... clearly didn't count >.>). Everyone has all those avatars I suddenly remember!

Anyway I'm not actually in this game (though I am Tracey Emin, ironically) so I'm not intending to actually be helpful, since while treestump is a fabulous role it does seem a little unfair to whatever mafiosos might be lurking in the shadows to have such a brilliant, unkillable me on their tails. Gotta leave the town SOME fun, right? :D

I distinctly recall that I used to reflexively call whoever got wagoned first in any given game an obvious townie.

Bella is an obvious townie.

The codenames stuff is useful info, thank you, but I think we are just going to disagree about this.

@primate, confused. I was saying your nom looked like a reaction test, not about CES. I did think CES was less serious than he seems to be tho, hence the follow up type writer joke.

P-edit: @ces, should've been clearer that it wasn't really not knowing the references that threw me, so I'm not expecting the fact I wasn't there to be reassuring

Sure. I was referring to "I don't think CES can really think that reading an opening post of, what looks like from my pov, nonsense, and reacting to it is scummy at all. an opener like that deserves a reaction!". Which I think is a little disingenuous as CES wasn't talking about the fact you reacted (others did, Fenchurch off the top of my head), it was your specific reaction of asking if others had roles that interacted with the stuff in the intro post.

Early townread based on the fact that all my experience with scum!Cerys at the meet was her being a confused lurker that only actively pushes ideas for who's scum when cornered.

Also early townread on CES. Struggling at this point to explain beyond "thought process looks like genuine scumhunting". Can try explain further at request.

@Cerys, CES
- what are your reads on each other?

Menno townread for reasons that would be unwise for me to go into (not role-related).

Primate's nomination seems both objectively pro-town in getting us out of RVS, but also NAI. I'm not sure if that's contradictory and I should be actually be townreading him and am just too sleepy to realise.

I'm quite happy to go along with the Bella elim, further posts didn't really improve anything. I don't think Primates post was particulary confusing, although I could see it being a (pleasant) surprise. I would not have expected it irl, but forum games are quite different after all.

Initially leaning scum; now leaning town. I tend to gut scum-read CES just for playstyle, and at first his vote on Bella struck me as reachy. But his push to make use of the potatoes is pro-town and overall I think his subsequent reasoning reads town to me.

Don't blindly follow my read though, familiarity doesn't make me reliable and I don't have a good track record of correctly reading CES

Fwiw I don't think ces's push is scummy either. I think in hindsight (and primates post helped, ta) I can see why the response was what it was to my post.

My intent was for information and discussion, as I don't think any interaction with what's in the opener would be alignment/massively role indicative: although the codenames one that I didn't know about seems like it actually could have some town utility. It seems like the potato may have the most anyway.

I'm pretty happy that the potato play is the right play at the moment, and Bella seems like a fair choice given what's been said so far, so...

Nomination

Primate has nominated Bellaphant for execution.

McMenno is not obliged to decide immediately on whether to confirm or veto this nomination, but neither Consul may nominate another player until a decision on this nomination has been made.

Potato Count

Here's how many potatoes each player currently holds:

Bellaphant
has
1 potato
.
Cogito Ergo Sum
has
1 potato
.
cpol
has
1 potato
.
Fenchurch
has
1 potato
.
Klick
has
1 potato
.
McMenno
has
1 potato
.
mykonian
has
1 potato
.
Nexus
has
1 potato
.
Porochaz
has
1 potato
.
Primate
has
1 potato
.
Postie
has
1 potato
.
Takuma
has
1 potato
.
Wenna
has
1 potato
.

The potato rules:

  • At the start of Day 2, each living player must eat a potato. Any town-aligned players who are unable to do so (on account of not having a potato in their possession at the time) will immediately die.
  • At any time during Day 1, any player with 1 or more potatoes may post "
    Pass Potato to [Player Name]
" on a new line of text. This will transfer 1 potato to the chosen player.
  • No player may hold more than 2 potatoes at any one time.

Non-Binding Vote Count

Bellaphant (3):
Cogito Ergo Sum, Postie, cpol

Remember that votes have no tangible game effect at the moment; only the Consuls can nominate and execute. This vote count only exists because the mod is a cool pal who's here to help.

Time until deadline: (expired on 2022-04-28 19:00:00).

I've decided I like the nom but I don't like the consul mechanic. I'm not sure how I'm going to find anything to latch onto. That said I'm not really enthused by the Bella vote. But it's more interesting than anything to do with potatoes for which I will be promptly ignoring from henceforth.

If we were further into the game, I would find her scummy, but I'm happy to wait to see and how that develops.. A lot of her reads feel like very Fenchurchy reads in a way that I feel like she would fake as scum (i.e. it matches my mental model for how she plays but I don't expect my model to capture the complexity of Fentown).
Scumchat is awesome. Yarr!
