Three things meant to erode town reads and promote scum reads, because there's nothing that scum hates more than townies with under-developped scum reads on other townies, and strong town reads on townies.

If Tanner flips scum, then Norwee is town, Datisi is town, and Flea is town.

this is a weird way to spin Tanner asking Ydrasse and Satoru about a read. the Datisi being Tanner thing was already brought up but you are really confident in this conclusion.

the big difference would be scum Chara knows what it's trying to do generally and town Chara is playing intuitive darts and trying to figure out what scumhunting feelings are correct and what are misplaced crap. at least one emotionally-inconsistent rollercoaster meltdown feels like it's my hallmark at this point, though i do my best to keep the worst of it out of the thread.

town-me and scum-me both get unreasonably invested in the game, as scum i get stressed because i don't want to let down my team and as town i get stressed at the prospect of being a mis-elim, but i think i'm generally more comfortable being useless as town than i am as scum. though still not happy with it.

I felt transparency of thought from 428 to 438.

My doubt was regarding the initial question (268) she directed at me and also the fact that I was not detecting any towny particles during the time she was addressing the mech talk, but both were outweighed by my current positive impression of her latest post sequence. So, yeah, I'm fine with leaning town on her again (for now).

this whole sequence of posts reminds me of me when i start overthinking a player's mindset to figure out why they're doing what they're doing and convince myself they have to be town. it's not a slam-dunk but there's also little benefit i see from scum clidd deciding to defend a hypothetical town Robert here. taking Robert's alignment out of the question i would say i like it.

I strongly disagree with this. We are early in the game and it's not a good idea for scum to choke out their voting options by claiming a town block, especially one that contains controversial elements (me), and in such an easy going manner.

I'm actually more suspicious of the players defending me, because it's blatantly obvious that I won't survive into the night to use my power, and it's very safe for them to say I'm town when they know I'm town.

Objectively there are no reasons to town read me that hold water.

But then, the reasons to scum read me seem very opportunistic. Why are players hung up scum-reading me into page 25 or so, because they pretend to be baffled that I didn't know that Datisi = Tanner? They are hanging on to this notion because they know I'm the easy player to eliminate because I work all day long and don't have the leisure to play all day and defend myself immediately, so that false accusations simmer.

i do like 738, but then i read 741 and the indecision feels like when i'm scum and don't know which angle is the best one to take, so i go for indecision/the uninformed look.

but as i'm typing that out, rather than indecision it was more like attacking both sides, both the players that scumread him and the ones that townread him for seemingly no reason, and scum Robert really has no incentive to flail around between the two options, and then shoot at clidd who iirc was on his side.

Yes, Nakata thinks that clidd tends to not be so methodical as scum and to struggle more to maintain his levels of effort, which Nakata is not seeing here. Furthermore, Nakata believes that friend Clidd does not enjoy playing scum very much and yet he seems genuinely happy to be here and to be playing which Nakata also thinks makes him town.

i actually agree with the above partially, Nakata when pressed articulated his townreads pretty well and they felt like they had some substance, but the Amy scumread was based on one singular interaction, and the Tweetie scumread felt simularly shallow and based on one minor thing. then when Amy pushed back Nakata reconsidered and brought forward other players again (Ydrasse and Tweetie) on the basis on having strong scumgames and i think PoE based on the other townreade, but still hasn't given any convincing reason for me to think he genuinely scumreads them. i think PoE is a fine tactic but it doesn't feel like Nakata was really employing it as much as putting forward names he could present some minor justification for.

but re: appeasing Amy, i want to say it's -aligned because it does look like Amy was genuinely angry and Nakata was trying to avoid escalation, and i don't see this happening between partners this way. i townread Amy anyway but it's worth noting.

yes, i don't think Ircher's been town. none of his commentary has been very bad or objectionable but i really can't get past the idea that he knows he's being unreadable on purpose and he knows there's a tendency to not want to elim slots like that early on.

but i'm also a little hesitant to pursue it because there is a reason for town Ircher to play like this, i just think it sucks. but ultimately his posting has felt really slimy and... purposely helpful and yet not risky at all.

So, I just don’t think scum!Pooky would try this crap on me because he knows how extremely upset I was after he fooled me in a past game. In Trust Fall, he refused to pair with me because he didn’t want it to be my fault town lost. I still got blamed for it anyway but Pooky felt really bad how upset I was after Hideyoshi.

ss3: 6 mafia vs 7 town, mafia lost if they lost a player in the first 2 eliminations, if first 2 elims hit town, the mafia would choose 4 of their players to "exit" and it would become a 2v5 with 2 dance pairs who would become nightkill immune for 1 night.

i've been thinking about this and i didn't find myself agreeing with this post at the time, but yeah, i don't think scum Ircher would have any problem coming up with these reads and i really don't think one single good post, especially when prompted heavily by clidd, is really worth the townread at all.

i also don't understand where Tweetie's townread on Nakata is coming from, though. or Infinity really. Infinity seems like she has some meta with others here so i'm kind of willing to let that one be at least for today, multiple people have said she's felt off and i agree.

Infinity has definitely been weirdly low-energy, but she might just be legitimately low energy. Amy has felt normal, Tweetie's been normal, Tanner also feels normal, thoigh i admittedly have not been paying him too much attention yet AI-wise. and Pooky, and Ydrasse. Robert has been eh, i don't know him, but i don't really think he's been doing anything strange?

it's really just Ircher. Nakata also does seem to be making an effort not to be scumread, the "okay townreads unsatisfying scumread" thing is most of my read there, combined with the constructed reads thing and being too aware about how his progreasion is looking.

scum infinity seems pretty possible, the plain not showing up at deadline when she's been online does feel like giving up, and that would be in line with how she's felt occasionally present and trying and at other times like she's barely treading water. i can buy that this isn't normal for a scum Infinity either, but it seems like she's been in a bit of a slump recently too. i think it was Tweetie who said that being in a slump doesn't mean a slot can't also be scum.

i just find her really null and dry. that doesn't make her a bad elimination at all, and i've certainy made the mistake of not wanting to elim players i nullread who were scum.

and it's stupid but since i'm not confident she's town i don't feel good trying to pull the elim in another direction. plus the whole freezing up and not posting is definitely a lot more of a scum behavior than a town one, in this context. still not a fan of the blanket ellitell though.

He's used metronome and transformed into a Voltorb. beep beep beep Yin nods grimly. The Holy Lance be with you. Strapped to Ircher's chest is a bomb. There's a large red button on the front that spells DETONATE. Ircher looks around anxiously. It seems my fate may be sealed. However, there's no need for anyone here to do anything drastic... Ircher is confirmed town. At any time, any player may detonate the bomb and kill Ircher by posting DETONATE in all-caps and bold. If every letter is not capitalised and bold, it will not count.

Yang's and Yin's dialogue is yellow and blue respectively, and Ircher's is green. it probably isn't significant beyond denoting Ircher's town and some flavor for Yin and Yang but i like the detail.

there's also where Ircher asks him about his Ydrasse read and he makes a big deal about the question without answering it until prompted to by Ydrasse, i think i think i saw this yesterday and mentally wrote it off as uncooperative town but in those cases it is usually easy to see where the disagreement was set off and what the underlying thought process is. with Robert i'm not seeing that and it feels more like he's just reacting to whoever is engaging him in the moment with a vote.

i don't think Infinity's Nakata vote is very clearing, Infinity felt like she was having a lot of trouble with putting more into the thread. i feel like the burnout/low-energy read was correct even though she was scum, in that situation i think distancing would be on the table for her, especially if she thought there was a good chance she'd be elimmed.

it'd be worth it to check out the timing on this though.

infinity only votes nakata when he's beginning to receive votes from amy and clidd. it's actually the first time that infinity mentions nakata at all and then spends a good amount of time fixating on him. idk if that means that infinity was trying to distance from nakata for towncred or to try and protect top wagon at the time (robert, on 3 and then chara on 2). it feels like infinity put like, all her effort into this one read so like, can someone smarter figure out what was going on here.

when you say protect top wagon, are you saying that Robert was the top wagon @ 3 votes and Infinity was trying to keep it that way by voting Nakata? because that's what it sounds like you're saying but i don't get what you mean. or i misunderstood.

i'm not going to bother trying to figure out if this game could have a vig because i think it's really hard to say without seeing more of the setup, but i do agree there seems like already a lot of killing power.

What i meant by pushes i suppose was how you stuck to Nakata for the majority of the day, i dont think you ever joined ircher, and im not sure if your thoughts on infy came very early in her wagon. Which would make sense for scum that wants ircher to go thru, have tons of targets on the next day and not come under fire. assuming nakatas town, which with Infy's afk push on them seems a tad more likely

the latter part doesn't seem to be the read as much as talking about why i could be scum with Infinity based on pushes. which i did ask about.

i don't understand the part about not voting Ircher, if i wanted him to go through instead of my partner Infinity, might it have been a good idea to try and help that go through? iirc i was pushing Nakata (who is still scummy, i don't think Infinity's push on him is clearing in the least) and then moved to Infinity when votes stalled out at the end. it seems like the least optimal way to go about the day.

Ydrasse: what do you think of Tweetie's 2364 specifically? i keep reading it my first thought was i feel like Tweetie is being really charitable to Robert's play and reading into it in a way that feels informed. one thing i'm fairly sure of is it's not a hypothetical scum Tweetie defending her scum partner, but i wouldn't rule out anything else just based on that.

i am kind of with Robert that i find some aspects of Tweetie's play lacking from her towngame, there's a certain emotional honesty that i associate with Tweetie and this post is pretty much what i was looking for in terms of "this is how town Tweetie digs into her townreads". i don't know if scum Tweet can do this too and this is partially why i'd really like to see her talk about her read on me more in depth.

but basically i've definitely felt this way before, recently in fact, with the really scummy player who you can still kind of see the logic of so you go all in trying to figure it out and come out with a townread.

actually anyone can weigh in i'm curious about thoughts on this in general, this ended up being more about Tweet than about Robert.

i've only skimmed some games so far, but this one:

is pretty interesting. Robert was scum, and unlike the towngames i looked at, seemed to have a handle on things. it was only a really quick skim but he wasn't eliminated until day 5, while the towngames had him out of the game pretty early. this could be contradicted by other games i haven't looked at yet.

i don't think one game is evidence of a meta pattern, but it did confirm to me that town Robert can be consistent limbait. i didn't get a sense that the reactive play is a constant, though.
