armlx. I thought it odd. You should know from Open 60 that I am given to flights of fancy when I see odd things. Regardless I thought my point was worth saying. All that it seems to have done is stoke some actual serious questioning, which is what the town want to begin with. Whatever. Random voting certainly gives plenty of info and I'm always curious if voting isn't so random.

I mean the later not the former (and yeah that's opinion based). I have neither done a meta read of him nor played in the same game with him before. I usually like meta reads, but I've had the luxury of playing with several people from previous games in the ones I've played (and yeah it's only 4 games). I haven't had to read up on a lot of new players previously, at least all at the same time (hello, replacements). Course now I have 1 person I've previously played with and frankly I don't have the time to read up on all of you.

I'm not sure what to make of this, but its a contradiction which jumped out at me.

Really, then share what you've found so far, coz I must be missing it....

I don't read too much into the random voting tbh at the start, you can take from it what you will, but to make any clear assumptions at that point would be laughable.

In my only completed game Ive played so far, I made a link with random voters that seemed a bit odd....

It turned out only 1 was scum, and the other 2 were town.
Lesson learned for yours truly.

Like anything it serves a purpose; however, I'm a huge fan of random wagoning. Wagoning people is the best way to make D1 productive. *waits for someone to start dropping scum tells*

UNVOTE:

VOTE: LAPTOP DOG

The "all I was trying to do was stoke up some serious questioning" sounds like a very weak explanation, and trying to paint himself town.

So, people get tagged as scum when they say the "random vote" phase is random, and when they say it "isn't so random."

That said, I didn't really see a "counter wagon" forming on armix. Wasn't really a wagon on Gimbo either.

No, people get tagged when they refuse to random vote because there is no point (assuming they have played before) and when they try to use the random votes to push something on D1.

This is true. Those that attack people for things that are going on during the random voting phase are therefore making baseless attacks.

*sigh* Ok, ummm. Gimbo, is dcorbe really your best guess at scum ATM or was your vote also a random? If not dcorbe, who do you find most scummy and why?

Oh yeah dcorbe, i'm in another ongoing game with him and I don't like his playstyle ;), so it's random.

I don't think anyone's scummy rite now, although SyreX tried to overanalyze my 3-vote wagon from the get-go and made me go 'huh?'

Yep, even in random I'm gonna look at things - random voting in and of itself isn't, of course, going to be a case but it sure could play a part. Hell, in the one finished game I did we hit the recruiter day one partially based on his random vote.

So, yea, random votes CAN have meaning.

And, of course, its going to be the transition from the jokes to reality. So, someone has to do it. :P

In my first game that got trainwrecked by a now-banned player, I also picked out a mafia because of his random vote and another minor post in the random/joke phase. At the time, my case was
very
weak against him, but it had caught my attention. The more I pressed it, the more he squirmed and eventually outed himself as scum. I agree with Spyre's methods, but disagree with the post saying "refusing to random vote is scummy." I don't random. In any of my games.

CF Riot, you are contradicting yourself. First you say random votes are relevant, then you say you won't do them.

That's not contradicting in any way. I'm saying, yes you can read something from
any
post in the game, even random votes. I'm am not saying, "it is good to random vote and everyone should do it." I don't like to, but I see the need for conversation to get started one way or another. That's why I'm posting now, I feel like conversation stagnated and I don't have any real scum reads to give my opinion on, but I don't want to be a lurker or appear to be hiding myself from being read.

So, wow, how is it that I end up voting for what appears to be the only person who hasn't posted yet? (I could be wrong) Um...I know these games are a lot slower than I'm used to but there has to be some reason here :S.
