3.) I'm also remembering Kiwiblat from last summer, but I like how Kiwiesta and Kiwipalooza sound :P
I like Kiwipalooza.

For the group fare, I don't know if they do discounts or not for groups, and if they did, it might be a huge hassle to organize the money, but just having everybody together would be lots of fun and worth it. And as per nonny's suggestion, we'll just ask *coough*force*cough* others out of their seat.

LOL!!! totally.

MoS if it's like loads cheaper I'm all for it but if it's the same or otherwise I'd rather book on my own, due to timing and coordinating and stuff. Still want to coordinate flights I just won't have the money when other ppl do. Cause I get lump sums from work for school...and fincial aid and that is what i'll be using.

You can request a quote for group travel from Air New Zealand:
http://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/airfares ... efault.htm
I assume other airlines would have similar things.

Also I have been over the thread and made note of everyone's date preferences. It seems that early January 2010 is the outright winner. I hereby announce that it will be so!

I know nonny can't make it for New Years (not even if you give 18 months notice, non?) and I know that MoS is really keen for new years, so I'd appreciate if others could weigh in on the issue.

So if you consider yourself at 40% or better likelihood of coming, please state which of these options you like better:

Option 1: Wed 30 December 2009 - Fri 8 January 2010
or
Option 2: Sun 3 January 2010 - Tues 12 January 2010

And also, while I was going over the thread I noticed a couple of questions that I missed..

Re: board. If you are coming from overseas I will organise a roof over your head and most of your food. But be warned that this won't be a hotel. It will be in the style of previous meetups... E.g. you might have to fight someone for a couch or a bed, you might have to wait 6 hours for the shower. You'll have to be understanding and communally minded. This all adds to the fun, though. :)

Re: money. No we don't accept any other currencies over here. Only the NZ dollar. You can exchange money before you come, or once you get here. You'll just need enough for whatever souvenirs or personal items you might want to buy, and possibly a bought meal or two if we are out doing/seeing stuff and need to eat.

If I missed any other questions feel free to repeat them.

Option 1 for me as well. Won't overlap quite so much which school (not necessarily relevant for me, relevant for my +1). And I like spending New Year's in other countries. :)

I vote Option 1.

I would like to spend New Year's out there, and I also have to be back for school Monday Jan 4th... So my time will be cut short anyways.

aww.. that means only 3 full days in NZ..

Unless I change jobs by then I doubt it. I'll double check the rules. But in retail over here you can't take any time off between thanksgiving and new years(going to check if it christmas)

EDIT: just asked co-worker, it's till the 1st that I can't take off. So I could fly out new year's eve(w00t new yer's in the middle of no where!) and get there on the second I think. I would obviously perfer option 2, but that is just my being selfish.

Option 1, I like the idea of New Years down under.

MoS, are you taking the reins on organizing group fares? I would be interesting in doing that.

Is NZ down under?

I'd call them Down, Under, and to the side a bit.

Cut me down to 20%, realizing I'll only be able to spend three days there makes it less exciting :(

I do want to visit you and come to New Zealand sometime though, even if I don't make it for Kiwiesta.

Well heck... Alky, you could come earlier if you wanted. There might be others in the same boat as you and needing to get back for school.

For anyone I have met before (or if you are a well-established mafiascum member), consider my hospitality available from 22 December to 22 January. I will still pick a 10 day period for the actual official meet, but there can be mini-meets either side if people want to.

I don't mind being late and spending more time on the end with you and the lump!! ^.^ My only thing is if you are doing that beach house idea I don't want to be the only one coming late if it's a far drive to the airport and all!

EDIT: realized I don't even know the distances I'm just used to things being spread out which is why I say it that way.
