Thanks for the nod cicero.
cicero wrote:Except his team won AND the PRs killed him... depends on how you define "losing cause" I guess. It was hilarious though.
This is why I love DGB.

Also I think I already seconded iPick, but Adel's set-up was as much fun to watch as it was to play in.

Nominate:
Guardian
Award:
Best Replacement (scum)

Game:
Mini 553

Guardian replaced in on page 24. This game had a lot of modding problems, one of which resulted in the person Guardian replaced to accidentally make a huge case against
himself
. Guardian was very likely to be lynched that day, but he defended himself so well that he avoided being lynched,
and
managed to hammer a doctor right after they claimed. He almost got away with doing that the next day, when he came up with a brilliant plan with Destructor, his remaining scum-buddy. Scum definitely would have definitely won the game, but they got unlucky with a town power role. Also, Guardian even NKed the vig.

Guardian was an astounding replacement, and turned the game around from not having much of a chance of winning to within a hair of winning the game. Had it not been for the mod abandoning the game, I would not have been able to figure out whether I was naive or not, and scum would have won.

Second Guardian for Best Replacement

Even thought we didn't win, it took a lot of work to turn things around as much as he did. He revitalised the game, as least for me, and like Bab said, I think it was his play that bought scum so close to a win after being so far from it.

Nominate:
Pie

Award:
Best Performance - Newbie

Game:
Newbie 622

Despite having her partner immediately under suspicion and consequently lynched Day 1, Pie managed to go through the entirety of the game without a single player questioning her innocence, playing some experienced ICs and a pretty good standard of newbie players like fools to win the game. I can't imagine a more impressive way to win your first game.

Nominate Battle Mage for best role claim (SSW II - Alpha wolf in a werewolf themed game), a role that I actually snatched and used in the sequel SSW III.

I'd like to fourth Jitsu for Best New Player in Mini 518, if no one has already done so.

I just spent the past week reading through the game as preparation for when I start my first, and he played brilliantly.

Yeah, this thread has been WAY Down on my list of priorities; if somebody wants to quote and update the first post, I'll be glad to post it back to the first page, but I don't have time right now.

Nominate:
Tarhalindur

Award:
Most Enjoyable Mini (Theme)

Game:
Mini Theme 622 - Mind Screw Mafia

I think it says something that this game only ever needed one replacement (i.e. that this game was far too awesome to flake on). We started off not knowing any of the rules, which led to the Godfather inadvertantly shooting himself N1, and the setup certainly kept us guessing right through to the end. Definitely the most fun I've had in a game of mafia in my few months of playing so far.

I will third this.
Xtoxm's overall play has gotten better than it was when I first started playing with him. He still makes mistakes (Everyone does) But I have seen a vast amount of improvement overall and so I will gladly third this. I am actually looking forward to the next game I play with him not just because I think it will be fun, but also because I think it might be challenging should we be in oposing factions.

Nominate Quagmire for most improved player

He had significantly cut down on what others would call "disruptive elements" in his playstyle, and was generally taking the game more seriously and kicking ass and taking names.

Nominate Knights of Cydonia for this award for failing to realise these awards are for people doing well and not to berate them or advocate crap play
