Jack Box

I'm writing this on mobile so for those of you who want to piggy back, please do.

There's this awesome collection of games known as the jack box party pack. As you may guess, these are a collection of party packs. (Wiki it. Seriously!)

What makes this different is that you play from your phone. This helps with humor filled anonymity and a platform to help with platforms like drawing.

The main game I'm thinking is Quiplash, which has a lot of parallels to cards against humanity or apples to apples.

I just realized we could have this work without all of us having to fly to see each other and lugging a playstation.

I can host a game and stream this over Skype to everyone so everyone sees the screen. This allows you a to see everything between the phone prompts.

So what do you need?
- a mobile device like a phone or tablet. This will make playing the game possible.
- another device that can reach the Internet. It should be able to have Skype. This would be for the streaming and seeing what I'm filming.

If this has enough interest, I might be able to do something tonight in maybe an hour or so.

Who's interested?

We have played this in the past on MS, and it worked well for the most part, there was a bit of latency that made for some close calls with regard to timing.

We did this at a CA game night meetup and brought MS into it over a Twitch stream... worked pretty well for the most part.

Thanks for putting this in, Chevre. So I only have the Jack Box original party pack and Quiplash, but I went over a buddy's house the other week and played the third pack. Trivia Murder Party is so fucking awesome.

Here are my opinions of the games:

Drawful - Fun game, but I absolutely suck so I'm not huge on the game to be honest. -
Fibbage - Great game. It's about seeing who's a great liar, and I think I got it down pretty well.
Trivia Murder Party - AMAZING GAME. I wish I had it. I might in a couple of weeks. I asked my sisters to get me it for my birthday.
Bomb Corp. - I've never played it before. I only watched a little bit on Youtube and it doesn't look that fun but I haven't given it a fair chance.
Fakin' It - Really fun game, but we couldn't play it unless we're in person because it involves us raising our hands, pointing, etc.
Earwax - I haven't played this game and from watching it on Youtube, I don't quite understand it.
Guesspionage - Fun game. Highly recommended.
Tee K.O. - It's kind of like Drawful and slightly funner, kind of.
Bidiots - I've never played it but it seems to be as fun as a drawing game can be to me.
Lie Swatter - Moderately fun.
Quiplash - Extremely fun. Probably the first one I want to try.
You Don't Know Jack - It's kind of a hard trivia. I enjoy it, but most people I know don't want to do it.
Word Spud - Ehhhh...

I guess I can expand a little too:

Drawful - I just feel like it's the game most suited for almost any audience. Even if you have some "funny guys" who want to put trolly responses, it doesn't ruin the game, and it's still a ton of fun.
Fibbage - It's a super neat concept, but it can sometimes get a little too trivia-based if you have a crowd that doesn't like that. But I totally lost the last time I played after being really good at it.
Trivia Murder Party - It's like Saw-meets-reality TV show, which is my dream game. My only qualm is that given the theme, one of my friends suggested that everything should be horror or weird themed, which I don't think would be the worst idea. Maybe make it episodic, like YDKJ?
Bomb Corp. - I'm probably a bit biased on Bomb Corp. It's only for up to 4 players, and I think it really works well with a close-knit group of friends. Me and my two best friends had a ton of fun with it though, and the art style is quirky and it's really funny.

Fakin' It - At first when we tried fakin' it we hated it. It absolutely DOES NOT work with a small group. I might rerank this a bit lower actually, because the only way our group of 3 derived fun from it is by burning through a specific set of questions. With a larger group though, I think it could be good fun. You might have to play this in person though, it's a bluffing game and you want to see them hot facial tellz.
Earwax - I had been told that Earwax was subpar and thus avoided it like the plague, but we played it last session and it's OK. It's like CAH or AtA but with sounds. It's kind of basic but it gave some laughs.
Guesspionage - This game also falls into the "basic" category. The questions and game is interesting, but the flavor is really bland and the structure is pretty repetitive. I feel like they could do a few more things to spice it up, but it's fun-ish.
Tee K.O. - It's OK, it's just that it's so convoluted to get to a final result. Weird that you can like, actually buy the T-shirts you make though.
Bidiots - I'd also been iffy on this one, but playing this wasn't so bad. It has some neat mechanics and I think it could be very fun with a large group.

Lie Swatter - Kind of basic. It's age kind of shows.
Quiplash - I don't know, I just don't find this one very good. I can see how it can be a good game, but with my group it just doesn't gel.
YDKJ - It's definitely the fact that it's trivia that's dragging this down. It's well structured and humorous. If you have a trivia-loving group, it's good fun.

Word Spud - We played this once and I don't think we finished the game. It's just word association, and it's so arbitrary and subjective. Not worth it IMO

Okay. Thanks for expanding:

I have:
Drawful - I'm not the biggest fan but if everyone else wants to play, I'll join in.
Fibbage
Lie Swatter
Quiplash
You Don't Know Jack
Word Spud

I think we should start out trying at least all except for Word Spud.

We're more than welcome to try the new games (especially Trivia Murder Party.) It's just that if we do that, I can't host.

I need to ego search this in case you recruit in here next time. (I think it would be a better option than site chat)

So we had an event tonight. Not too huge, but a good one. We will do this again soon. I think it was all successful.

For those of you who are still confused, read up. Ask questions.
For those of you who played for the first time tonight, share your experiences.

I'll have much more awesome games soon.
