General Rules (borrowed from Phoebus)
  • Uncensored use of swear words is prohibited and can lead to a modkill at the moderator's discretion.

  • Nights will last around 72 hours or so (excluding weekends). If night choices come in earlier, it will dawn earlier.
  • Days will last as long as they need to. If discussion lags, I will impose two deadlines. The first may be rescinded or extended. The second will be final and binding.
  • Votes must be in
    bold
. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.
  • Unvoting is appreciated but not mandatory.
  • You are not allowed to vote for yourself.
  • Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, his pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded.
  • You may
    vote: no lynch
    – majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death. Once a player votes no lynch, it will be taken that he has gone home and may not post again that day unless he gets half a majority of votes required to lynch him.
  • At deadline, half majority or more will constitute a lynch. First come, first served. Less than half majority = no lynch. Endgame (6 players or less) will require fully majority regardless of deadline.
  • The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so.
  • Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing.
  • Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts
  • Don’t quote any messages from me. You are liable to get mod-killed if you do.
  • If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you. If you do not submit a choice, I will make a choice for you or just forget it - whatever makes you most unhappy.
  • If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.
  • I should post regular vote counts. Please feel free to request one should you deem it necessary.
  • If you have any questions, you can pm me or ask in the thread. I'll get back to you as soon as possible, and with the best explanation that I can.
  • I am always right, but not always accurate. If I've made a mistake, please tell my by PM as soon as possible. If you try to notify me in thread, I'll have to to edit your post and you will most likely be mod-killed.
  • Most importantly...this is a game and we're here to have fun. Do your part.
  • Pretending to break the rules by quote-claiming a role you don't have is not only stupid, I will also save the town the trouble of lynching you and modkill you instead.
Rules specific to this game
  • The possibility of revival of a dead player is present. If I catch any dead player talking about the game their chance of revival goes out the window.
  • You can use whatever written aids you can find to help you research ancient Egypt or hieroglyphs. Contacting people for information is strictly forbidden.
  • Each night, players can send me one sentence in hieroglyphics (with translation) to publish the next day. The text has to be in true Egyptian, not English translated into hieroglyphs. I will be lenient with grammatical errors. In these messages people may not claim or use their own name.
  • If the majority of the town agrees, you can make a one off group decision to revive a lynched or murdered player. Until the time a revival target has been chosen and revived this way, roles will not be revealed upon death.
To indicate your choice, please use the format
    Revive: Mgm

If the majority of the town can agree, you can make a group decision to revive a lynched or murdered player. Until that time, roles will not be revealed upon death.
We can revive a lynched or murdered player if the majority votes for it ? How many times can we do this ? Can mafia kill themselves to get revived ? When is the alignment revealed ? After a second death ? After the exhaustion of the revival ability ?

Yeah, The Role is revealed after their second death? Then only the Mafia would know who had died(Assuming there is no SK) Which seems unfair.

There is a message up on the stone wall for you guys to chew on. This is not yet a regular game day. And there will be no lynches or use of power roles. Scum bags are free to talk amongst themselves and discuss tactics.

Thoth, its Egyptian name ḏiḥautī, and the first player with a reserved spot, is an Egyptian deity with the head of a bird. I would like to hear the thoughts of this player on the hieroglyphics. Is he a PC ?

Also, after the revival ceremony, will all roles will be revealed at death ?

I'm not going to answer those questions. You'll find out in due course.

We start in day or night ? Do we have to formally vote for the revival ? Will this be Rampage's last set of questions ?

Translating hieroglyphs is a bitch. I see why they needed the Rosetta stone.

Will all messages in hieroglyphics that you give us be in Egyptian or just English translated to hieroglyphs Mgm?

As far as I can determine this is true Egyptian (not just English letters translated). It would be a bastard mod to require you to use real Egyptian when I'm not doing so myself.

It obviously says "I like kittens."

It's the only message worth telling.

Can we go ahead with the serious talk or is it just a time for asking questions?

The revival thing is interesting. We probably won't want to wait too long before we do it if we don't get death information until after we revive, but we certanly don't want to revive a scum.

Translating the hieroglyphs is obviously going to be a large part of this game, I'd suggest everyone get some practice with the first message.

What I have so far:
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a168/ ... ation1.jpg

I've got most of it translated, and enough to have a pretty good guess at what it says, but I'd suggest working on it yourself to give yourself some practice. The ability to translate the hieroglyphs is obviously going to be an important skill.

Go ahead. I initially planned this period so people wouldn't have to make blind night 1 choices, so discussing the game in the regular manner is totally allowed. It just happens to be useful for questions too.

Hmm, so the first is the 23rd Year, Upper and Lower Kingdom, and Eternal living, While the second is Evil... Intresting..

The reason I'm giving these as links is so that people have the chance to translate the hieroglyphics themselves. (aka, don't post in the thread what I say in the links)

I will tell people that the hieroglyphics are just flavor.

It sounds like with this revive thing, that it'll be very hard for the scum to kill any town. Doesn't it make more sense to not reveal identities once a player is killed? Though that could make scum overpowered...

We can only revive once during the entire game, so that won't keep the scum from killing protown players.

Also, I propose a strategy for when we want to revive someone. I suggest that we revive within the first 2-3 days of the game, in order to find out alignments before it become critical. In addition, I think we should revive someone who was nightkilled, since if we lynched someone, we obviously agreed (majority) that he/she was scum. If we are about to revive someone that was killed by a vig, that vig should perhaps claim, because we don't want to revive scum. We want to revive someone who is more likely town, since scum killed them. Not definite on this last idea, but it's a suggestion.

Why don't we just revive the people who have important rolls, like the Doc, or Cop?
