Italicized text is completely ignored, meaning that xyzzy's post was effectively a blank one. However, numberous other people have posted all italics or blank, and these people have died - which leads me to believe that there's a factor involved outside of simply the posted text. Ideas that come to mind are timing of the post, post number within the thread, and what previous people posted.

xyzzy posted Sunday, 6/3/07 at 5:16 Pacific, post subject 29. The previous post was NabokovNabokov saying "Maybe he'll get mad if we call him a Cereal Killer." It was the 25th post subject to the Serial Killer's killings, and Xyzzy's first of the thread.

I see no obvious patterns, but hopefully that's all worth someting.
I am a stand-up dude of genuine flyness.

5:16 might be a pattern. I ran a check through the entire thread. The only other post made at the 16th minute of an hour was by GreenLiquid himself.

I hope this helps (though I appear to be a bit late in saving myself)

Flub,
using his intuitive skills,
notices that every "paragraph" of every death description has an adverbial phrase.
Lag actually does exist in real life. For proof, look no further than Jesus: When he died, it took him three *days* to respawn.

@
Pie_is_good
: Italics only applies to mod notes. I'm guessing it has no effect on regular posts. As for xyzzy's surviving post, perhaps it contains something that will save you? I've copied it below to test if it will save me.

That should be, "Italics being exempt from the rules only applies to mod notes".

Blue Zebra
, mimicking the Serial Killer, is able to escape with all limbs on his person.
ChannelDelibird
, who opts not to engage in the art of mimicry, finds himself dead on the floor. And
The Fonz
, bravely defying the Serial Killer, is killed as well, to the horror of onlooker
McStab
, who makes a dash for the door and is able to get away before the Serial Killer can do anything.

Albert B. Rampage
ponders the Serial Killer's motivation, at least he does before a large metallic object shatters his ribcage.
PurpleKoopa
, hopelessly yelling gibberish, gets only a glimpse of the pipe before getting whacked in the head.

NabakovNabakov
finds himself being tossed into a pit of spikes by the Serial Killer.
Khelvaster
, implying some insight into the Serial Killer's methods, fails to avoid a sharp blow to the head.
ShadowLurker
's silence is met with a FLAMETHROWER OF DOOM AND PAIN, WHICH SEARS HIS FLESH! A tiny little ember hits
Blackberry
, and he dives into a nearby pool of water to get rid of the flame. The 'water' is really a hologram projected by a projected that the Serial Killer has nearby, and the pool is really filled with flammable gas.

And as for
The Greg
, well, he is not one of the safe ones, and in fact, he might be better labled as SIGNIFICANTLY NOT OF SAFENESS. The Serial Killer 'bowls' him over with a bowling ball that is really a large bomb.

THE SERIAL KILLER
, in his infinite wisdom, approves this message.

Lawrencelot
meets his fate when he posts some w's. The Serial Killer yanks a rope, which makes a 3 ton weight fall on his head.

~N9V~
goes for a vowelless post, however this fails to keep the Serial Killer at bay, who sneakily creeps behind him and stabs him in the spine.

I would like to point out that Blue Zebra posted number 71. Which was acknowledged and he survived.

Yet he posted again in 79, and no mention at all was made by the mod. Does this mean you must just survive once per killing spree? Or were both posts some-how safe or what?

Mod?

(and kill me for this I guess if need be.)
Either you are part of the solution, or you are part of the problem. You can form two lines to make it easier for me, or I'll figure it out on my own. It is your call.

The serial killer is late on the set for this awesome new porn i'm directing. Frankly i'm pissed off. So like if you could tell him to drop by and do his job, that would be sweet. We all need money, and we both have easy jobs so.
