I don't even think bigben should get a title. Think about it--what has he done to deserve one? I know I've been bashing him a lot lately, but almost everything he does is the opposite of what we (well, many of us, at least) want and try to promote here at this site, and giving him a title would just be rewarding that.

I mean, he's talking about drama class in the Title Fairy thread! I love drama people as much as anyone else around, but this is NOT the place to devote an entire post to stuff like that!

That's good, but I still think three months is a bit quick to be

demanding

a title. It's really nothing personal, just a personal opinion that's been inflamed by the recent Title Fever.

Maybe with all the anxious newbies around we should make it more like 500 posts to get a title. Though, that would mean bigben would still get a title.

I think maybe it should be more than 100 at least. Half the newbies here have gotten that many in a month or less. That's not deserving of a title. I remember when they used to mean something. Back when even I didn't get one- though I didn't know what the requirements were anyway. Maybe it should be 500 posts and be around here a year. That should show dedication

and

experience (hopefully). I know this means people have to wait a lot longer for one, so maybe the time requirement could be a bit less. Still, I think it's a good idea. As long as a post count requirement is there too so some random name that becomes active after a year with only 5 posts can't get a title.

Regardless, titles should come from games. Wait for bigben to get something from a game (you know, NOT spam) and then we'll see if he deserves it.

I thought the rule was that someone had to nominate you for a title. Wouldn't that pretty much solve everything? The title would be topical and specifi to the site, and not thrown out there for no reason.

I don't see why it's such a big deal anyway. Maybe nobody noticed, but this site isn't exactly very prestigious. If you want fame and fortune I suggest going to venues where you will be seen by more than 100 people. The rest of us are here to play mafia.

If you think having a title makes you a legitimate member of this comunity you have it in reverse. Titles sometimes go to people who have already become legitimate members. If you want to establish that legitimacy, I suggest focusing on what this site is really about. Like I said, the rest of us are here to play mafia.

We'd have to have the post count count too. (have to have: count count- don't get confused:)). If we didn't then someone who joins and posts 5 times and leaves- comes back a year later and want a title wouldn't be fair.

Or we could just go with my idea of no one asking for their own title and only receiving one when somebody else nominates them for it. The only problem I can see here is "title coalitions" forming around a group of newbies. So you could make it so that nominations will only be accepted if they are made or seconded by someone who already has a title(maybe I shouldn't talk like this, seeing as I have no title yet)

I say 250 posts and 6 months should be the restriction...I've been here for longer than 6 months, but unlike most people I don't play in 10 games at a time, and I like to keep my schedule uncluttered so I can actually make legit points in the games I'm in...so my post count isn't uber high

That's because you feel that in order to be cool, or to be one of the elite, you have to have a title. Personally, I think someone should reset your postcount to -10000 and give you the title "an example to spammers" (which is roughly what happened to me on brunchma, except bigben actually deserves it).
