Rules:
In (very) Short
22 spaces. 8 players. When one player hits space 22, the game is over and the person furthest from the last space is the winner.
The Particulars
- Each round, the person in last place (randomly chosen for Round 1) will be the pollster. I will announce the category (e.g. Gifts in the 12 Days of Christmas) and how many answers are in the category (in this example, 12) and how many answers the rest of the crew are expected to get (here, 8). The pollster will place his yes or no bet on whether the other participants will come up with the expected number of answers. The turn order is fixed, but the pollster will choose who will answer first and we'll progress through the list from there. (Note: As the person in last place is always the pollster, it's possible for the same person to be the pollster twice in a row.)
- In succession, each person will give a guess and I will tell them whether or not it is on the list. If it
is
on the list that person is the current "Smartypants." If it
isn't
on the list, that person is penalized as follows: 1st wrong guess: +3; 2nd & 3rd wrong guesses: +2; 4th-7th wrong guesses: +1.
- The round ends when either 1) All the correct answers have been given or 2) Seven wrong answers have been given.
- The current "Smartypants" (the last one to give a correct guess) can throw out his/her highest penalty or, if (s)he has no penalty for this round, moves back one space. All others guessers move forward the penalty points each were assessed during the prior round. The pollster will either move forward one (for an incorrect wager) or back one (for a correct wager). Next Pollster is announced (if two are tied, then the person closest to the last pollster in turn order will be "it") and the next topic/wager number is given and we proceed. There is no "0" (or negatively numbered) space..."1" is as good as it gets -- so, no matter how well you've done, you cannot move off of the board.

**Note: You may think that some of the answers aren't right...but even if they're not, they're close enough and we're rolling with it. Remember, it's just a silly game! NO INTERNET SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS. If you don't have a good guess, take the penalty like the honest player you are.
This game is for 8 players and the game will be tracked throughout in the first post of this thread.
If you make us wait for too long when it's your turn (and I'm the sole judge of what is "too long") -- you will be counted as having given a wrong answer & assessed the appropriate penalty.
