Literary Mafia - Game Over

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Fri Mar 24, 2006 7:41 pm

Welcome to the Literary Mafia game!

The life of a fictional character is not an easy one. Romantic adventures, tragic losses, dragon slaying, misapplied metaphores, all of this can easily take a toll on one's sanity. And guess what, it had. Some of you have managed to escape the confines of the two-dimentional page, and take control over the local public library. Having routed the librarians, the building is all yours to enjoy. I'm sorry, did I say "enjoy"? I meant, "turn into the greatest battleground in the history of the written word".

Kill each other. Have fun doing so.

Alive (18):

1. VitaminR

2. Glork
replacing HairyCarey

4. DrippingGoofball

5. Shamrock

6. BrizzyBoi
replacing Mastermind of Sin

7. Passdog

8. Fletcher

9. Bacde

10.broomhead

16.help im a bug

17.ziliu

18.Vova

19.Aelyn

20.ibaesha

21.elvis_knits

Shredded (5):

11.armlx (Robinson Crusoe, town), sucked dry Night 1.
23.PetroleumJelly (Tom Sawyer, town), smothered with a pillow Night 1.

13.HezLucky (Svengali, Cultmaster), lynched Day 1.

3. Fritzler (Iago, Mafia Politician), sucked dry Night 2.

22.Commodore Amazing (Joseph K., Miller and one-shot daycop), shot and pummeled to death Night 2.

Rules, as stolen from an amalgamation of other moderators, but mostly MeMe:

0. This game is modded by me (Alexander), with rajrhcpfreak as Co-Mod. We are the law. Whatever we say, goes. If we make a mistake, we'll do our best to fix it. If you think we made a mistake, notify us ASAP, but accept our judgement.

1.
Votes
must be in
bold
. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.

2. Please be attentive and
unvote
, if necessary, before casting a new vote. This is not required, but I’d appreciate it.

3. Lynch will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, their pleas are useless and any unvotes will not count.

4. You may
vote: no lynch
– majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.

5. The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so.

6. Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing. I will allow a single no-content 'bah' post, but that's it.

7. Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts. Whatever you post, stays on permanent record.

8. Don’t quote any PMs from me. Modkill may ensue. You may paraphrase very loosely. If you do, I strongly suggest you err on the side of caution.

9. If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. If a choice is optional for your role, I will not make a choice for you. If a choice is mandatory for your role, I will make a random choice for you.

10. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.

11. Remember, it’s a game. It’s supposed to be fun. Do your part. Be nice to your fellow players and the mod. Make meaningful posts.

For general information, this is what a typical townie PM looks like:

You are __(name)__. You are on the side of town. ___(you have such and such abilities)___.
WIN CONDITION: ALL NON-TOWN PLAYERS ELIMINATED

Day 1 dawns to a horrible scene. In front of you, a boy not more than eleven years of age, his face blue due to oxygen
deprivation. A pillow was held to his face by steadfast hand until he died. Who could've done this? But that's not all;
Next to him, you find the body of an unshaved man with long hair, smelling of seawater and fish. He's pale as a sheet,
as if all blood has been sucked out of his body. Closer examination reveals bite marks on his neck. Two pro-town players down already, oy vey.

PetroleumJelly (Tom Sawyer, town) was smothered with a pillow Night 1.
armlx (Robinson Crusoe, town) was sucked dry Night 1.

As we mourn for the dead, we also remember that life must go on. And by "life", I of course mean "mindless carnage".
With 21 alive, it's 11 to lynch. Get out there and kill somebody. Let's play Mafia!

My #1 choice would be CES, but since he's not on the list, I'll go for #2.

Hi everyone!

No votes yet, but I just thought it would be good to look at the "death scene", as Literature lends itself to very descriptive things...

"Sucked Dry" doesn't quite ring a bell for me right now. Does anyone know of a literary character that would "suck dry?"

"Smothered with a Pillow", however, seems to lend himself to Othello, he who smothered his own wife. Granted, he was under the influence of Iago, but I would think that Othello would be an interesting possibility of scum.

Anyone have any comments on this?

I believe you may need some closer examination...

Dracula is the only character that comes to mind as far as "Sucked Dry" is concerned.
No idea on "Smothered with a Pillow." Still haven't read that Shakespeare play.

"Sucked dry" is obviously a vampire. Dracula and Margarita are the only ones I know in literature.

Other vampires in literature could be any Anne Rice stuff. Lestat? I don't know the other names (only vampires played by Tom Cruise in movies).

Still, it's probably Dracula, because can Anne Rice be considered literature? :P
