are you looking at vanilla or modded? modded is up and running currently, but requires a download and installation of the modpack. vanilla is pending due to some server issues we had, so i'm not sure if it's actually up or not, but it is in transition.

The philosophy part is easy, and I don't mind if everyone knows where I stand personally on it. We're here to have fun, provided that fun isn't at the expense of others. Give people access (with possible exceptions i.e. do we have anyone identified as blacklisted??) If a malfunction or actions of other player(s) causes unreasonable damage, take reasonable steps to help fix it. It isn't a candy store so we're not handing out free diamond gear etc. except as replacements for legitimate losses. Not as much need for helping folks with setup on vanilla, but on modded it's important.
