and by that we mean Rhinox and I have seen the light and don't really think Mods have been a positive thing for this community
and are not going to be updating MafiaCraft anymore and will not ask Maruchan to re-pay for it next payment cycle

1. Solving the "we all love each other lets have fun COMMUNITYROCKS" aspect: No mods have not been good for us. They cause lots f stress and Drama.
2. Solving the Activity, enjoyment, and pretty much why a server for MS existed in the first place aspect: Yes modded minecraft has brought a much needed activity boost to this community, and brought many more people who had previously slowly faded back online.
3. RE: KMP. You know thats how this all started right? I was screwing around with mods, all on my own. Decided to throw up a small little server and have blake join me and invited any of you who were adventurous enough to try to install 500000 mods to join me. It was me, you, blake, rhinox, tbone just pretty much derpingaround having lots of fun no seriousbznz shit for awhile. Then we were so active (See 2 above) that it drew the attention of other minecraft lovers, and they decided they wanted to get in on that. After many failed attempts, we started releasing our own privately modded minecraft.jar and anyone with PCs joined us. This was great until we realized we have a lot of mac users, and we couldn't figure anything out so we decided to reset and go with MindCrack FTB. As soona s it became 1-click easy, MASS EXODUS TO MODDED happened, and MafiaCraft modded server was born, and became community shizzles.
I talked to Klaz, and pointed this out and he recognized the same thing is happening to KMP. I forsee it becoming MafiaCraft 3.0 (since MafiaCraft 2.0 is for the dying server i originally started), so really by offering KMP as modded alternative, you're not really doing anything but evolving it into the next mafiascum modded server.
4. Vanilla: Mentioning mass exodus back to vanilla and KMP IS AWESOME in the same post is suicide. Pick one to sponsor as your idea and go with it.
Re: Regular FTB Pack: we had that and we had just as many issues with bugs in it back then.

I don't think so. Even with DW20 and MindCrack we had issues outside of "lets throw hundreds of dollars at this a month and hope it bandaids the problem". If your server is actively using 20GB of ram, with 0 players online, and the overall playerbase of the server is <100, you've got issues. I have never met a server owner with a palyerbase of our size who had is or her servers eat as much ram as MS servers tend to.

Engh.

Yeah, I don't much like that base. Obviously it's not up to me and there isn't any such thing as laying claim to a piece of land, but I wish that whoever it is had asked first. I picked that spot specifically because I loved the view--now my "sea view" is that build instead. Thinking of relocating my whole house elsewhere, but argh.

Klaz fixed my portal when I built it, iirc. I'm not in the area to check it right now, and would have to go to Klaz's place through the overworld to see where his portal leads to now.

Yep, it is mine - wasn't going to be so blocky all the way up (and I thought I hadn't broken the nether... the portals I could find didn't change where they went). Sorry, didn't realise I'd be treading on any toes. I'm probably not going to finish it now - it was pretty ambitious, and I pretty much gave up because noone was ever on the server. I'll destroy it some time.
