I'm no Mad Cool Ballin' King, but I have a coin in my pocket that I can flip if I wanted to play random guessing. I don't even need an Internet connection for it either.SAMP! 9 wrote:Random voting scum in a game with only one scum is an awesome feeling!

Me too!The Colonel 14 wrote:I signed here to play with a bunch people I played with before and had fun (incidentally both of those people are already on 'against' side of this discussion). Coin flip is not fun.

Do you think the guard unit would never vote the king during the game?XScorp 15 wrote:Simply by voting for me you guys have already hinted that I'm not the king.
That would mean you think the Colonel isn't the Assassin?XScorp 16 wrote:Please don't give the assassin tips.

I agree, and I'm glad you brought this up. I was surprised when XScorp didn't use dice tags, and I'm wondering why that is.zora 21 wrote:But i'll note that that's NOT what Scorpion did. Instead, what he did was ask if OTHERS were interested. This is an interesting ploy. It seems to me that if he were really interested in doing this, he would do a dice roll rather than make it non-random. Because so long as it's NOT random, we're defeating the purpose of not giving the assassin information AND we potentially letting the assassin drive a lynch (though this is only bad insofar as he's not the one being lynched).
Well, it wouldn't be a straight system of having one 8-sided die, imo.XScorp 22 wrote:Except you miss the INCREDIBLY GLARING FLAW in the case I rolled a die and the die said to lynch the king. Hence die roll doesn't work. Way to completely not think about this.
It would be deliberately more vague than that so that the guard unit could talk their way out of it if necessary (e.g. a different player rolls x number of dice with x sides on it every day, making it sound as though it's a fair shake when in reality the King wouldn't be a possibility).
Granted, that's not really random either, but the idea zora is getting at is that you, XScorp, can't just pick our lynches lest you be the Assassin.
Why do you play mafia, XScorp?XScorp 25 wrote:Just a pro-tip to town: Try to talk less, and don't give so much away to the assassin next time ok? We've already screwed up day one by practically confirming I'm not the king, so please stop making stupid mistakes like this.
Additionally, I don't know how conclude that your role is confirmed. I think it would be a good idea, personally, for the King to lead the lynches each day. Then again, I think that would be a good Assassin move, too. XD

I play to win.
The problem with devising any open system of die rolling that is rigged to never hit the king is that the assassin can figure it out too. If you can come up with a system that works, avoids threats on the king and doesn't give information to the assassin, please please tell me.
Obviously I can't volunteer to pick our lynches, hence why I let someone else vote before I did.
It doesn't matter, all that matters is that he is saying things that might help the assassin play better, which is bad.RC wrote:That would mean you think the Colonel isn't the Assassin?
Further discussion along this line of thought will help the assassin determine who is king, which is bad.RC wrote:Do you think the guard unit would never vote the king during the game?-

XScorp, I think you underestimate the guard unit in this game.
What if I were to contend the town was better poised to trick the Assassin through cunning rhetoric than through "random" (read: biased) quick lynching? Would you think I was naive?-

No, I'd say that it's just not as optimal a strategy. I'm a perfectionist, I want play as well as possible, and logically speaking the wiki strategy has the best odds for town to win. While there may be nothing wrong with another approach, as I said before, I'm aiming to win as efficiently as possible.-

Meh, not necessarily. We can, especially after saying that smokescreen thingy, act exactly opposite and purposefully leave the king from consideration along with a few other people so he'll have to make two guesses (did we ignore the king, and if yes, who was the ignored one?) instead of one.XScorpion wrote:It doesn't matter, all that matters is that he is saying things that might help the assassin play better, which is bad.
Huh, do I hear and echo?
No, I'm not. I'm purposefully screwing with the assassin's mind. Since in this game he's sitting in Vizzini's place instead of town, I'm placing WIFOM after WIFOM before him.XScorpion wrote:It doesn't matter, all that matters is that he is saying things that might help the assassin play better, which is bad.
You do realize, that with your lynch, and 4 people already who are against your strategy, your death won't change anything with town behavior, right? So if you are indeed a guardian, you'll only remove one guard from the guessing game for assassin and actually not help town in any way. Unless OpposedForce, tumescene, and Chronopie will be in favor of quicklynch-notalk lynches, your strategy will never be forced, so just deal with it and scumhunt as the rest of the town, because your 'most efficient behavior' is not doing town any good ATM.No, I'd say that it's just not as optimal a strategy. Sorry I'm late guys, I've caught up
I'm guessing that Scorp probably isn't the assassin. bc he's giving up, and that would be anti-wincon for the assassin (unless he's picked the king already).
Therefore,Vote: Seraphimfor being anti-lynch.

Hello everyone. I'm new to this particular set up so I will try to adjust accordingly. I'd like to state that the quick lynch policy could work if executed correctly and by that I mean: Minimal information being released (I.E hints given in posts or how the assassin could operate), agreed decisions together (The town agreeing on an action and following through with it to avoid delayed arguments)
Vote:XScorpionThe great blessing of mankind are within us and within our reach; but we shut our eyes, and like people in the dark, we fall foul upon the very thing we search for, without finding it.

I'm surprised by the speed of this lynch. Haven't played any Assassins game, but it looks to be interesting.
Regarding the debate about whether we should stop talking altogether and simply rl...
If I wanted to play a game of pure chance, all I'd need would be a pair of dice. "Each time I roll 5, I win!! I'm gonna roll the dice a 100 times, wheee". It amounts to the same thing.
back later.-

This is a nightless game. Does that mean we vote for the next lynch asap? or do we wait for the mod to post a lynch scene?
If the king is leading the lynch, it just paints a target on the kings back.RedCoyote wrote:I think it would be a good idea, personally, for the King to lead the lynches each day. Then again, I think that would be a good Assassin move, too. XDShowHe'sbaaa-aaack

Despite all the hubbub of the day(s?), the Assassin steps out of the shadows, convinced he's found his target.
Zorastersneaks up behindRedCoyote
Zorasterrummages through his victims pockets looking for anything that could possibly be evidence that he's successful in his mission.
Unfortunately for him, the rest of the guards, and the Kingtumescenceare successful in hiding the true identity of the king.
TOWN WINS!I'm going on a crusade to put more thought into my posts.

Well that was quick
Still, that was an assassin fail, rather than good town play.ShowHe'sbaaa-aaack
