Troll will hit that poll right quick but Troll no watches GD particularly closely so Troll could pretty easily have missed it. It might be worth it to send PMs to those who have expressed interest to let them know that it exists. Troll might do that tomorrow when Troll has a bit of time.

I sigged it. We need a name for this thing. Portland = Stumptown so maybe something about treestumps? Or rain?

Portland is also nicknamed "Little Beirut", so maybe Dissidents Mafia Meetup? Come and get bombed? There's gotta be something in there...
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

I thought it was called Stumptown because of the coffee branch Stumptown. A lot of people call it P-Town.

It's Stumptown because we were founded as a logging town, so the countryside was covered in treestumps.

We're also called Bridgetown, because of the many bridges over the Willamete.

Little Beirut comes from the riots we threw when Bush Sr. attempted to campaign here.

Rip City comes from the Trailblazers.

P-Town comes from the modern laziness of people thinking that "first initial"+town is clever. Same infectious thinking that leads to nicknames like A-Rod or Brangelina.

You forgot that the chamber of commerce calls it Rose City, which is even more lame than P-town. Dissidents Mafia Meetup will land us on an FBI watchlist or something. Think happy thoughts. :)

Stumpcon is short and sweet, though it makes me think of amputees. More suggestions please...

Mafia by Northwest, I vote for.

Hah. Rose City, I think it beats out P-Town - seeing as there is a Rose Festival ..

I predict a lot of good jokes on this subject after the meet. :)

Mafia by Northwest sounds like the title of a pulp true-crime novel. Keep those suggestions rolling.

Well, August is usually very sunny, so if shaft.ed comes, we could call it "Sunshine on our Shaft."

I'm so clever.

You know I'm totally going to take that out of context as some binding agreement in a future Munchkin game. Anyway...

...back on topic...

We could make a WotC pun: Scummers of the Coast. Or a reference to Astoria and call it something to do with the Goonies, which has an internal mafia goon pun. Stumptown Scumfest has kind of a nice ring to it but is also meh.

Also, our bumping has drawn the attention of more people and the Doodle Poll is filling out. Yay!

To be fair, you started, by taking my pun about the sushine shining on shaft.ed and turning it into something dirty.

There's got be something we can do with Mafia and the fact we've got a lot of bridges. "Don't forget your cement shoes"? Meh. There's got to be something in there.

I will most likely come. I'll be driving down from Seattle. Can my boyfriend come too? He loves games but he's not that into mafia. I'd just feel more safe meeting scummers if he's with me. He's 20... are people under 21 allowed to come?

As far as the date, as long as its not the last week of August, I have no preference.

Shouldn't be too big a deal; the more the merrier (especially since it's on Ythill's dime). And being 20 shouldn't be that big a deal, either, since he's above the age of majority for everything except alcohol.

@Phaen:
Your BF is welcome and will be pleased to learn that a variety of games are likley to be played. I don't care if people are under 21. Some drinking will probably occur, but it's not going to be the focus of the meet.

I just found out I'm supposed to be housesitting for a week and a half during the first week of August. Any way you can delete my first Doodle vote?

This is interesting, I've always wanted to visit the West Coast. It's quite a ways out for me I'll have to investigate the price. Do my best to get back to you ASAP if I can make it.

The situation has changed a bit and I may not have the second vacant apartment available. So we may be back to the prospect of finding prime-time gaming space elsewhere but I think that's fine.

Aug 14 is looking like the best weekend based on 9 entries. The end of the month looks like the worst.

I'm in there twice, cause I don't have a login to delete my first entry :(
