RULES OF PLAY

Game Setup
  1. Players join by
    /in
. After 48 hours of joining, the Moderator will randomly select 10 players. If less than 10 players /in, the players will be randomized for turn order. The game requires a minimum of 4 players.
  2. The Moderator will randomize a deck of cards. The deck size will be equal to 3 times the number of players. One of the cards will be an Ace of Spades, and all the others will be a 2 of Hearts.
Introduction

Someone has stolen the Pueblo! Can you guess who it is? The Lost Pueblo of Doctor Green is a simple card-passing game with a strong bluffing element.

About the Thief

Whoever is dealt the Ace of Spades is the Thief, and knows the hidden location of Doctor Green's stolen Pueblo. The Thief must keep his identity a secret from the other players, and try to escape; if he is discovered, he loses!

Play

Starting with the Dealer, players take turns. On your turn, you must do exactly one of the following three things:
  1. Hand a card to another player. You can't hand away the Ace of Spades unless it is your last card.
  2. Ask another player to hand you a card. Again, they cannot hand you the Ace of Spades unless it is their last card.
  3. Accuse another player of being the Thief. If you find the Thief, you win! However, if you are wrong, you must hand that player two cards. Again, you can't hand away the Ace of Spades unless it is your last card.
Dropping Out

If any player other than the Thief runs out of cards, they lose, and drop out of the game.

How to Win

If you are not the Thief, you can win in one of two ways. You can win by finding the Thief, or you can win by collecting six cards.
  1. By finding the Thief
  2. By collecting six cards
If you are the Thief, you can only win by running out of cards. When you hand away your last card, the Ace of Spades, you have escaped, and the stolen Pueblo remains lost! Whatever that means.

Note: If two players achieve their victory conditions at the same time, it's because the Thief handed his last card to someone else, who now has six cards (or more). In this case, the Thief wins.

Winning the Game

The winner of each round will receive 1 point. After everyone has dealt once (twice if 5 or less players), the winner of the game is the player (or players) with the most points.

MODERATOR RULES
  1. Although not required, all moves should be bolded. At the least, your move should be obvious.
  2. If players wish to table talk, it is invited at all times by all players.
  3. Feel free to ask questions. Either PM me or precede the questions with "Mod".
  4. Dark Red
text is reserved for the Moderator.
  5. Invisible or small text is allowed, but only minimally.
  6. Your cards will be PMed to you. Each PM will give the cards that compromise your hand. Each card will have a number to the left, which corresponds to the card number you would use when passing a card.
  7. With each turn (and in the first post), I will announce whose turn it is, the status of that player, and their available plays. If an incorrect play is made, I will announce it and allow the player to play again. This does not extend the deadline.
  8. Each player will have 2 days from my update to move. If a move is not made, the turn will be "passed". I will try to find a replacement for a player that deadlines 3 times in a row, but the game will not stall while waiting.
  9. Pay attention to the type of deck being played, as it is not a typical deck.
  10. For any random information, random.org or the dice generator will be used.
  11. If you are comfortable in the rules of the game and know that your turn is next, feel free to make the turn prior to my update. Remember, however, that if you do not realize the board has changed, you may miss out on a better play.
  12. If you see an error, please point it out as soon as possible.

Wow. This is turning out better than 10 Die Poker did. There's still a few spots open for a full game.

Also, to aid in outguessing the Mod or card tracking, I will be randomizing everyone's list of cards any time their hand changes (cards removed or added). It won't matter if you don't have the Ace of Spades, but it will help someone from thinking, "Gee, he's never played card #2 -- I'll bet that's the Ace!"

That's 9. One more for a full game, but other entries will be accepted past the 10 (random.org, baby!). About another 24 hours to /in.

Time is up. Time to randomize the players.

Sorry, Inquisitor JL. After thinking about the setup, and a PM by one of the players, I've decided that the cards aren't really needed. I know who the Thief is, I can keep track of the number of "cards" everyone has, and you can't pass the Ace until it's your last card, so no real "passing" of cards are needed -- your hand will simply gain or lose cards based on your move.

Because of the change, I will determine the Thief by using random.org to give me a random number between 1 and 10. The number chosen will match the player number in the status, and the player will become the Thief.

Deal order will go down the list. Each player will deal once before the game ends.

With that said, I will be sending PMs shortly. The game will start soon.
