@ Chinaman - you've said you don't find looking up other games beforehand to be a tell either way. isn't it, then, suspicious that someone would make an argument trying to make someone out to be scum based on that? Especially a newbie player who happened to already be the random bandwagon at that moment?

Ok, so we have AGM making a big deal out of what I personally feel is a null tell yes? Then we have a LOT of people hammering him for it. If you read what I wrote about how I feel about RVS and what it takes to get out of it, you'll note that I feel it takes someone doing something slightly scummy, no? I will now add that most the time in my opinion (which is Gold btw) that the person doing something slightly scummy is usually town, and the person jumping on it is usually scum. SO, the next question is who did the slightly scummy thing first? Was it Gooey for looking up games before hand and AGM catching that as slightly scummy or was it AGM blowing something out of proportion and Mordy or S...something that caught AGM's slightly scummy thing and blowing THAT out of proportion.

I will say that I don't know which it is right now, but I will say that Gooey is more townie in my book atm for his p47. Grats Goo...you're not my target today.

How is this possibly a scumtell? Seriously, please explain to me how scum is more likely to do this than town.

A scum player is in the business of trying to "prove" that other players are the scum. With this in mind, it would make sense for a dedicated scum player to research the other players in order to find differences in playing styles, or other "tells" that they can come up with in order to point fingers at town players.

@f13: Would you agree that it makes sense for a new player to read through some games before jumping into a game of his or her own?

It does, but I personally didn't. In answer to your general question, a friend explained the game to me and I just jumped right in.

What was the purpose of this question though? Are you suggesting that he might have encountered Almaster before? Maybe, but that is extremely unlikely, especially if he is a relatively new player.

Taking all this into account though, I can't prove or deduce that MordyS was looking up other players. I found it moderately scummy after Almaster pointed it out, but I concede the point as I can't prove it.

I'll help you out. Except for the players I've played with before, I haven't looked up any of the players in this game yet. I may as the game goes along though. At some point I tend to look up every player in a game. Also, no one is discussing whether I've looked up players before.

All I wanted to know was if you thought it was reasonable to read through games before jumping in - you said it was. It's not

Hey guys, first game I've played on here, so I'll start this off with a Vote:AlmasterGM for having a Pikachu avatar when Jigglypuff is clearly superior.

What about this quote at all indicates that gamma gooey has been "researching" all the other players before the start of the game?

MordyS has nothing to do with this conversation. Gammagooey is the one who knew the avatar ahead of time.

Are you actually trying to find scum, or are you hoping to scrape by with latching onto the poorly formed arguments of others?

fatchic, Lex, and peanut should lurk less. Try to post an opinion on at least two players soon.
So that I'm not a hypocrite:

foil's vote seems a bit weird to me, I would think that he would vote the person accused of what he thinks is scummy behavior (aka me) instead of the person who defends the behavior as a whole, and goes into detail about why he thinks it isn't scummy.

Mordy-I have trouble seeing the motivations for a mafia to stick his neck out and say that something is absolutely not scummy and draw attention to himself.

Muffin-Should also post more, the only thing you've stated for suspicions is that you're inclined to agree with two people.

China and archae- should try to fit their words into one post at a time herp derp, but at least they're talking, which is more than can be said for quite a few others.
