OPEN 175 – PICKING SIMPLICITY

Welcome to the retirement home, where people are old and like things simple. Death isn’t too out of the ordinary here, it happens, but the sudden death of semioldguy last night seems more than out of the ordinary. After all, he was only semiold; it couldn’t have been his time to go yet. Everyone seems to think his death was untimely and the four entry wounds in his chest also raise a few questions. Something fishy is afoot and the retirement home has been placed on lockdown until the killers are found. Most of you are just the doddering old relatives generally cranky about this whole situation, but at least here others listen to your stories about the good old days and you'd like to get back to that. Some of you hold a little more resentment than others for being placed in this home and just can’t take it anymore.

Over the intercom you all hear that you will be meeting in the common room where the most comfortable sofas are to settle this matter the old fashion way, whatever that means. Since everyone here is quite elderly, it may take a while for everyone to be able to walk all the way to the common room.

You are the oldest member of the force, assigned here to help solve this case but still able to blend in with the rest of the residents here. Each night you may PM me the name of a player to investigate. You will be told whether that player is mafia or not mafia.

You may not choose yourself. If that player was targeted by a kill, you will prevent that kill and they will not die.

You are just a cranky old person living here. Concerned that your children might not always vote, you know it is your duty to vote for anything you feel you can. Your only special power is your ability to vote, which even thinking about makes you tired, so each late afternoon you go to sleep.

You are tired of living in this retirement home and there seems to be no easy way out. You’ve teamed up with XXXXX, XXXXX, and XXXXX to get out of here. You may talk to each other during the confirmation stage before the game begins and at night at the following link: XXXXX. Each night one person from your group may PM me the name of a player to kill. If there is a disagreement within your group, the name with a majority submitted will be killed; in the event of a tie, the first PM received will be used.

Rules:

1. Have fun and don’t be a jerk. This is a game. Don’t do anything to deliberately make the game not enjoyable for others.

2. Players must vote in the format

Vote: semioldguy

. Votes in any other format will not be accepted. Abbreviations or nicknames will be counted as long as there can be no confusion as to who the vote is being placed upon.

3. Unvoting before changing your vote is not required, but appreciated.

4. As soon as a player has more than 50% of the total votes, the day ends immediately and that player is lynched. Unvoting before the moderator returns cannot undo the lynch.

5. When a lynch is reached, players may continue to talk during twilight until the thread is closed.

6. Deadlines for the day will be set at the beginning of each day. The same applies for night. They will always be posted in the OP and with each vote count.

7. Deadline extensions may be requested if a replacement is needed or to allow a replacement time to catch up. Extensions are at the moderator’s discretion to be approved or not.

8. If there is not a player with more than 50% of the vote at deadline, the day will end in NO LYNCH.

9. If you are dead, you may not post. A single “Bah” post is allowed but may not contain any game-relevant content.

10. Players must post at a minimum of once every 72 hours. Players who do not post for more than 72 hours will be prodded.

11. Players who do not post within 48 hours of their prod will be replaced. If a player is receiving an excessive amount of prods, they will be replaced.

12. Players are not allowed to edit posts.

13. You may not post/quote any communication you have with the moderator.

14. You may not talk to others about this game outside of this thread unless your role specifically allows it.

15. Do not post in codes, in tiny or invisible text, or in any language other than English.

16. Play to your win condition.

17. If you have a question about the rules, feel free to PM me or to post your question in the thread. If I make a mistake or if I miss something, please point it out so that it can be fixed.

18. Breaking these rules will result in consequences deemed necessary by the moderator.
