The End of the Time Spiral Subgame

One final day of fear. One final choice of life or death. Either you win or you die. There is no middle ground.

You bring the otherplanar chenhsi into the circle of doom.

There's nothing inherently wrong about being from another plane. Sure, you have to adapt to a new way of life. Sure, maybe your native plane was designed to overlay onto Dominaria and bring about a Phyrexian invasion. But that's not your fault. It's not inherently wrong.

Being a member of a hive-minded collective devoted to wiping you out to the last, however? Yeah, that would be inherently wrong.

And as the hissing, chittering form of chenhsi dissolves before you, you are relieved to see that he was, in fact, the latter.

With chenhsi down, the three of you eye each other warily. If one of you is an enemy, it would be trivial to stab the second and overpower the third...

But none of you do.

Ertai (the uncorrupted legend of the past), Jhoira (survivor of so many disasters), and the Mistform Ultimus (bane of Magic trivia questions everywhere); all are town.

And that means... this nightmare is over, isn't it?

16) chenhsi,
Metallic Sliver
Acidic Sliver, Tempest Mafia B Sliver Shredder, Lynched Day 5

2) veerus, Jhoira of the Ghitu, Townie Communicator, Survived
10) animorpherv1 (rep. Mastin), Mistform Ultimus, Townie Shapeshifter (post restricted), Survived
23) Boxman, Ertai, Wizard Adept, Townie FBI Agent, Survived

The
Town
(consisting of
11) Vino
,
27) Looker
,
7) Pyromaniac
,
2) veerus
,
10) animorpherv1
, and
23) Boxman
) and the
Star-Crossed Lovers
(
3) Benmage
and
30) Debonair Danny DePietro
) have won the Time Spiral Subgame of Magic the Gathering: Parallel Universe Mafia! (But not
31) Mufasa
, who was retroactively modkilled postgame for a violation of Rule 1.)

Note: There was an error in the role PM sent to chenhsi; it said he was Metallic Sliver when he was, in fact, Acidic Sliver. The death post here reflects this error.

Role PMs et. al. will be posted when the last subgame (Weatherlight Saga) finishes.

Useful Links:

The Parallel Planning Grid - This is where the mod team built the setup. Certain major issues (including my preference for a SpyreX modkill in FL's subgame and my disapproval of MafiaSSK's modding late in his subgame) can be found there, along with the setup. (Note that most of the discussion for the most important decision - approving the Yos2 modkill in FL's subgame - was done over AIM, and I didn't record the chat logs.) Night actions should be in the Planning Grid as well.
The Green Zone - Where dead players could talk.

Preliminary Notes:

This setup wasn't really completed, and it showed. Several issues were never really worked out among the mod team prior to the game:
- Ruleset (the really nasty one - I didn't add the falseclaim abilty because I expected to work out a ruleset with Lord Gurgi and Natirasha before both flaked, and then forgot to add it at the end when we decided to just use my standard ruleset with additions; in addition, we never really discussed potential problems with templating discussion, and we probably should have required players to be up-to-date in all three subgames to prevent issues where a bunch of people in one subgame start doing something that was warned in another subgame - which is, of course, what happened)
- Templating (we SHOULD have caught the "Kamigawa Vanilla Townie" problem and the misnamed Slivers (Clot and Acidic Sliver in the SSK subgame), but we didn't)
- Several poorly thought-out roles (especially Nicol Bolas, added early on due to awesome factor and never revisited - the role really doesn't work well in my ruleset; also the Star-Crossed Lovers, the lack of swapping roles in SSK's game, and some I'm forgetting).

I know I'm forgetting some problems.

Hurray for victory! :D

Anyway, I agree the modding could have been better if the original modding team had stayed together, but I'd say it turned out pretty well given the changes and mistakes made in modding.

I wouldn't say that by a longshot, Boxman.....

If MafiaSSK had actually posted a deadline when he was supposed to, I wouldn't have had to delay until his day was done and I could swap Coug back in, promptly causing me to lose my cover and lose the game. I still feel slightly shafted at that...

The Nicol Bolas role seemed a lot of fun and I'm sad I didn't get to play Oremore, however I could tell how incomplete it was. For anyone who doesn't know, my pregame consisted of having several of my abilities being errata'd to work correctly :p. In that it felt like a magic the gathering game very much so.

Lol. Sorry I caused so much trouble in my flaking. I wanted to play this game a good deal, because it was my first time with a posting restriction. (A rather nasty one, too. Less than...wasn't it 450 words? 40 posts per day maximum. It, uh, definitely forced me to shut the heck up and not ramble. :P)

I switched Kise and the lover in order to make them win, and because I wanted to play with Kise. (I didn't even think of the group Kise was in at the time.)
I was right about Kinetic, but as that was my only suspicion the entire game, no clue how I would've done if I stayed.
Overall, not a bad game for me, and I've definitely had worse. ;)
I'm back! Well, kind-of.
