Additional Rules


1)
Chain of Command
: Sergeant Apone, Corporal Hicks, Private Vasquez, Private Drake. Whoever is the highest on this list is in command and allowed to give orders in-thread. Everyone is free to obey or not however. ;)

2)
Game Posting
: To make everything clear, everyone is required to post their character image in every game post. The image URL is underneath the card photo for each character (listed above). The format to post an image is:

3)
Communication
: All characters are in constant radio contact and so communication in-thread is allowed and expected. Teamwork is tech. ;)

4)
Exiting the Game
: To exit the game you must land on the
**
square and have at least one action point left. If you have 0 points left upon landing on the square, you will have to wait until next turn to leave the board.

5)
Posting Frequency
: This is intended to be a fast paced game. Turns are taken in order. Each player will be prodded by PM when it is their turn. If they are not able to post within 24 hours of receiving their prod, they will be considered "paralyzed by fear" and their turn will be automatically skipped.

6)
Victory Conditions
: If at least 4 marines exit to the APC successfully, the surviving Marines will continue in the next scenario:
Operations
. Additional player slots for Ripley, Gorman & Newt will be filled in order by the player that died most recently.

7)
Game Start
: Characters will be randomly assigned. Sergeant Apone will determine the order of battle and each player will deploy his character in that order within the Deployment Area.

8)
Combat Dice
: The rules state that a 10-sided die should be used, where 0<>10 but zero. This means we have to roll a 10-sided die
and subtract one
so that the combat charts match the dice; the formula is "1d10-1".

9)
Game Orders
: Each marine has a number of available actions per turn listed on their card. So an in-thread order
can
have multiple actions in one post OR can go one action (or group of actions) at a time. e.g., a marine may want to use 2 of 3 actions to aim/fire and a third to move. The marine
could
put all three actions into one post ("Using 2 actions to fire at alien in square 10,10 & one action to move west") or only 2 actions where the third is saved for the results of the first two (firing).

Gah. I got 3 out alive. One was wounded. Vasquez had a final stand, lasting 5 rounds, completely surrounded, and killing two a round until one incapacitated her. Awesome game.

I have. It's my favourite of the series.
And I loved playing this scene. In the end, it was (this is 100% true) the crew of nearly everyone (someone died, can't remember who) running for the exit when Drake was tackled, and incapacitated. Hicks freed him, and Vasquez picked him up, and that left them stranded behind the rest of the Marines. Three got out alive, and then the aliens closed in. They didn't last.
Hicks was providing cover for Vasquez, who was just doing her best to carry Drake to the exit, which was blocked by, like 4 aliens. She cuts down one each turn, and moves ahead. Hicks isn't making much progress, and the aliens' numbers are swelling.
Suddenly, one drops right on Vasquez and Drake. Hicks doesn't have time to throw it off and he takes the shot. Drake dies. The next turn, three aliens swarm Hicks, and he fights one off. Vasquez runs back to help him, and misses.
Hicks dies. Vasquez is surrounded with no less than 6 aliens. She kills two a turn, holding her position for 5 turns. 3 of those turns she successfully throws off a pouncing alien. The sixth, she is incapacitated.
Game over, man. Game over.

Ya that's one of the reasons I love this game so much; it is a serious challenge. It is very hard to get out with everyone alive (just like the movie). ;)

After all (under bad leadership) the team entered deep into the alien NEST! :twisted:

I remember in the movie how Ripley said "They're cut off!".

I would want to play as "You-always-were-an-asshole" Gorman, if possible--but, of course, he is unconscious in the APC.

As to getting everyone out--no chance, five or so is OK, I think.

Sorry, the roles have to be random. The only other way is to have all players in the game roll a die to determine the choice order and THEN allow everyone to choose their character. I am preferring the random method myself (since I will be playing too ;) ).

Well, its just my personal opinon but when people have a choice they automatically choose the best player and such... I mean the rules DO allow for player selection of characters so there is no problem doing it that way... Its just that everyone needs to join first.

I'll go with the majority vote concerning character allocation method.

How do I know? Once everybody joins I don't mind everyone rolling (with ties re-rolled) and choosing in order by the dice.
