General

1. This is a game. Have fun, enjoy the mechanics and play of your peers.
   
2. Do not quote any direct contact with me, including role PMs and any additional communication. Breaking this rule will result in a mod-kill, no exceptions. Mod kills will end the day.
   
3. Please limit all conversation to this thread, unless your role PM specifies otherwise. Do not mention ongoing games in this thread (likewise, do not mention this game elsewhere).
   
4. All questions about the game must be directed to me via PM.
   
5. Please confirm your role assignment via PM.
   
6. No invisible text or cryptography. If you have editing abilities, please refrain from editing your posts. Anyone caught adulterating his or another player's post will be modkilled.

Votes and Deaths

1. Please cast votes in the following format:

2. Lynching will require a majority of votes, defined as
   (total_players/2)+1.
   You may

3. Once the number of votes reaches the number required for a lynch to occur, that decision is final. Any subsequent unvotes will not be counted. You may feel free to converse during this period (called Twilight) until the thread is locked.
   
4. Important: If you get killed or are lynched, you are dead. You may not post anything afterwards.
   Not even a “Bah!” post.
   Save it for post-game discussion.
   
5. At deadline, the player with the most votes for him or her will be lynched. If the event of a tie, the player who received a final vote
   first
   will be lynched.

Activity

1. I expect everyone to post regularly. If I see that a player has not posted for longer than a 72 hour time period and the player has not notified me about this, I will prod said player. If the person fails to pick up his her/prod within 48 hours of the prod, that player will be replaced. If you are prodded more than three times, you will be replaced (negotiable). If you are prodded, you must respond to the prod in-thread.
   
2. Treat this game as a commitment and be courteous to your fellow players. I find that this is the best way for everyone to enjoy the game. Thanks. =)
   
3. Each day will automatically have a set deadline of three (3) weeks. In special circumstances, I may extend the deadline at the request of the players or my own discretion.

This game will be open, played under the Bird 7P setup and will contain the following roles: 2 Mafia Goons, 3 Townies, 1 Cop, 1 Doctor. The game begins on day 1.

Yeah, they're a minor WIFOM gambit ("why would I draw attention to myself?") and mean you're not using your vote as constructively as possible (pressure on others).

At this point, pressure doesn't need to be warranted. Votes make scum make mistakes. It's a fact. It's the random voting stage - you put pressure on others at random, and if you're lucky, it causes scum to slip up. No, it's not going to happen every game, but it's been known to happen before - and by not voting for someone other than yourself you reduce the chance of a scum slip-up. That is scummy to me.

Random application of pressure can lead to town slipping up just as easily--and the two are largely indistinguishable. I agree it's not going to happen every game; I also have the addendum that you will

By voting for myself instead of someone else chosen by some arbitrary and entirely inconsequential criterion I am doing something different, granted, but also more informative. I will elaborate on this once the other players have commented on the situation.

Nah, I've seen it so many times used as just a device to stir something up to garner a reaction (typically by town, actually). I've seen some people use it as their standard "opening move" and in the RVS, I think it's pretty harmless and a nulltell.

Self-voting in RVS isnt scummy. If you're town and you're doing it you're attracting un-needed attention though.

I stand by my thoughts on self-voting. I'm not yelling "OMG LYNCH KORTS NOW" but I don't think he should have done it, I don't think it's pro-town behaviour. However, I am clearly in the minority here, and you can't all be scum, so at least in this game it's not a scumtell. However, I don't think it would be fair for you to suggest that because I am on the opposite side to the rest of the town of a fairly large theory debate (a quick browse through Mafia Discussion will dig up more than one thread debating the scumminess of self-voting, and I'm definitely not the only one who thinks this way), that that makes me scummy. It is, similarly, a null tell.

No unvote from me though, no point making a new, random vote now.
