GENERAL RULES:

Voting
: Please bold all votes, like so:
vote: Iceman
so that I'll be sure to see them. Please also bold all unvotes, like so:
unvote
. Any votes or unvotes not bolded will not be counted.

Lynching
: When a player has the majority of votes cast on them, that player will be lynched.

Deadlines and no-lynches
: Days one and two have one month deadlines. Further days have three week deadlines. If a deadline is reached and no player has the majority of votes on them, the player with the most votes on them will be lynched. In the case of a tie, the player who reached the most votes first will be lynched. The day will end in a lynch no matter what - there is not a no-lynch option

Night phases will have ninety-six hour deadlines. If no action is submitted to me in that amount of time, that action will not be processed.

Inactive players
: will be prodded by me if they haven't posted in seventy-two hours. Please let me know via PM if you will be V/LA.

Mod
: If you discuss the game outside the thread, you'll be modkilled, unless your role PM instructs that you're allowed to do so. No quoting role PMs, or you'll also be modkilled, and that's not pleasant for anybody. A modkill will end the day.

Death
: Once you see your lynch or death scene in the thread, you're dead. You can, however, post "bah" or whatever other one word variant of that general idea you want to. Anything else, I'll change to something you won't like.

GAME SPECIFIC RULES:

1. In this game, you will not know your own alignment or role.

2. You will know someone else's alignment and role.

3. There is no talking outside of the thread.

4. During the night phase, you will send me a PM detailing how you want to use the person whose role you know's night action.

For example, if Athena knows Zeus' role, she'd send me a PM telling me she wants Zeus to throw a lightning bolt, and he'd do it.

5. Any actions will be traced to the player who owns the role, not to the player who activates the role.

For example, if Achilles saw Zeus throw a lightning bolt, he wouldn't know that Athena was the one that told him to do it.

6. If a night action is of the type that yield results, such as a cop investigation, those results will be sent to the player who controlled the night action.

For example, if Hercules knows Athena's power, and Athena is the cop, the results of Athena's investigation will be sent to Hercules.

7. Anything in role PMs can override these rules.

Well this question has been on my mind ever since i saw this game.
What will prevent us from telling the name of the player we know the alignment of?
I mean what reason would there be to lie?

You don't know if you're scum, so you don't want to out all of the possible town, making yourself the only scum.

Well if you know that a player is scum from your pm, then the chance of
you being scum also is lower then you being town if the number of scum players would be equal to the number of town players and you would want to play as if you are town right?. So there would be no reason not to reveal that he is scum.

Merry Christmas!

I say "Don't claim anything!". If we know someone is scum or town, keep silent until we all decided what's the best thing to do. We can all decide for example that we all reveal the players who are scum. I am not sure if that's a good idea, because it is possible that you out a scumbuddy this way, whether the chance is lower or not. Maybe all revealing what role we know while keeping the player names to ourself is an idea? In any case, let's not do anything before a majority agrees with a good plan.

Merry Christmas and I agree that we shouldn't do anything unless we have consensus (or at least a good majority).

The problem is though, we cannot scumhunt since nobody knows whether they are scum or not. If someone says something that screams scumminess, it's absolutely no use pointing it out because they cannot have scummy motives (since they don't know they are scum). Also, random voting is completely useless and I would like to advice you all to stop doing it since it doesn't make any sense at all (whereas in a normal game it actually does have some purpose, believe me or not). This makes day turns rather useless for us, meaning that we should try to make them useful.

I suggest everyone plays the role they know. Because in all aspects, you are the role that you know, except for the win condition. If you know someone who is scum, and you control their night kill, you can be either a vig or an sk, but it doesn't really matter because you're not the only one who doesn't know your alignment.

Even though this is the flavor of the game, we should forget the 'you know someone else's role' thing, and just pretend 'I know my role but what's my win condition'. Since that is what it boils down to.

Afat, I thought I was your joke vote. :( (Can't believe that game is still ongoing. Won't say more.)

As far as a massclaim, it would only hurt the scum. It's an easy town win. The thing is, we don't know if we are scum. By agreeing to a massclaim, the scum are unknowingly taking a loss.

But a scum PM usually tells who the partners are too. Shouldn't people have PMs that say X is scum with Y and Z partners? Honestly, I doubt it for this game, but that would be the normal scum PM. I can't see any harm in claiming scum for someone unless you are outing a partner, which you wouldn't know.

I think it depends on if it's random whose role we got, or if it was chosen. If it was chosen, I'd be willing to bet at least one scum got their partner's PM. I'd also be willing to bet a Godfather or Miller got a cop's PM and can investigate themself.

Now, what Sird said. Nothing scummy that anyone says actually means they are scum. The game will be won or lost on luck and night actions. A game like this should have a lot of power roles. Any lynch we make is a shot in the dark. I NEVER use that term on Day 1, but in this game....it's true....

A no lynch gives the scum a free kill. We might as well just lynch someone. Maybe a policy lynch. Someone with a record of being a lurker or anti-town player. I see a couple of names that could fit a possible policy lynch, but both players
do
make an honest attempt, so I don't know how I feel about lynching them over that. It's the only strategy I can really think of right now outside of massclaiming.

Like, for each of us, the odds of us being town are roughly 3:1, slightly more if the person in your pm is town, slightly less if they are scum. So, mathematically, it's the right play for everyone to mass claim and hope that you are town. This kind of defeats the purpose of the game, but on the other hand so does what we are doing now. We can't lynch on behavior, because scum do not know they are scum. So, we either randomly vote somebody almost to lynch until somebody says "no, dude is town" or we mass claim.

The thing is that if we all got a pm saying a person's role and that information is true, the game would not have any sense. A mass claim would end it instantly and it would be the right choice for everybody. There must be some sort of catch, even more so if you think about this:
7. Anything in role PMs can override these rules.
It is possible that some got a different pm.Who knows.
I think we should start by each saying who we have information about. That may give us some clue.

The only catch is that if you are scum who knows scum, you are outing a buddy. I don't see any way that the scum should win this game.

A: Hi and Merry Christmas.

B: I'm not quite sure what to do here... I was thinking at least lets claim the person that we have OR (No and) the role. And I'm more leaning towards the name, because if we policy lynch today we may be able to link who has who.

I believe that who got the mafia roles are somehow connected to that person. I dunno..

how about this... why don't we have someone claim who knows a vanilla townie, that way the town won't be killing themselves by policy lynching a PR, or outing a PR. while it doesn't actually catch a scum, it doesn't really hurt the town either. it would seem to be a mutual agreement for everyone, since no one actually knows which side they are on, and no one is really hurt by it.

one more thing, so we don't get a bunch of different claims, outing everyone, i will claim the Vanilla townie if we decide to go with that route. It seems like a decent idea to me, until we can get some night actions and let everyone get a better idea of what they are.

That seems pretty fair.

I also don't mind claiming whose role we have, to get an idea of what player x knows about player y's role.

Why would we lynch a townie? It's good for scum, yes, but for town there is no benefit whatsoever, while lynching a townie in a normal game does come with benefits as the scum knows their own alignment. I like crywolf's plan the most until now: either we all claim who we got information on, or we all claim what role we have info of and make it an open game.
But a scum PM usually tells who the partners are too. Shouldn't people have PMs that say X is scum with Y and Z partners?
That would change things. It's important to know whether this is true. So I got a new plan:

We all claim one of these two things:
1) If I got a scum role pm, it states only one scum
2) If I got a scum role pm, it states the partner(s) as well
People who don't have a scum role pm should claim 1). Who agrees with this plan?
