Asterix: The Little Gaulish Village - Game Over

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Wed Jun 23, 2004 12:40 am

Post by Phoebus »

Welcome to Gaul! Hope you enjoyed your stay!
:)

Game over.
Check last page for details.

Image

It is the year 45BC and all of Gaul is occupied by the Romans, well, except for one small village. This little village of indomitable Gauls holds out successfully against the onslaughts of the four Roman garrisons just outside it, thanks to its venerable druid, Getafix, and his magic potion that grants the drinker invincibility and super human strength for a period of time.
Long have the legionaries of Totorum, Compendium, Aquarium and Laudanum been terrorised by these ferocious people, who fear nothing but the sky falling on their heads. Caesar has also grown tired of the turmoil and has proposed a peace accord between the Gauls and Romans. Greatly pleased, the Gauls accepted and have taken the opportunity to organise a World´s Fair in the vicinity if their little village, inviting chieftains from all over the known world, to celebrate and acknowledge this historic pact.

Will things go according to the plan? We´ll find out soon enough...

The Rules:
(A blend of scum´s finest.)
  • Nights will last around 48 hours or so. If night choices come in earlier, it will dawn earlier.
  • Days will last as long as they need to. If discussion lags, I will impose a deadline. If discussion picks up, the deadline will be rescinded.
  • Votes must be in
    bold
. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.
  • Please be attentive and unvote, before casting a new vote. I’d appreciate it.
  • Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, his pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded.
  • You may
    vote: no lynch
    – majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.
  • The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so.
  • Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing.
  • Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts
  • Don’t quote any messages from me. You are liable to get mod-killed if you do.
  • If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you – if you do not submit a choice to me I will make a choice for you, which might result you being quite unhappy
  • If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.
  • I should post a vote count, ever so often, maybe every page or every alternate one. Please feel free to request one should you deem it necessary.
  • If you have any questions, you can pm me or ask in the thread. I'll get back to you as soon as possible, and with the best explanation that I can. You can also pm me if you want to tell someone about your day, or you thought something another player wrote was funny, or just to say hi. :D
  • I am always right, but not always accurate. If I've made a mistake, please tell my by email as soon as possible. If you try to notify me in thread, I'll have to to edit your post and you will most likely be mod-killed.
  • If I'm going to be unavailable for more than a day, I'll post that information
  • Most importantly...this is a game and we're here to have fun. Do your part.
Your happiness is intertwined with your outlook on life.

Alea jacta est - The die is cast. Roles are going out soon.
There are quite a few, so it will take a while. Please confirm by return PM and start sending in night choices if applicable. Once all confirms are in, a night deadline will be put up. And remember...Audaces fortuna juvat - Fortune favors the bold.

Awaiting three confirms.
I see Leo and DS have picked theirs up. Please humour me and just return the PM saying confirm.

Also, Metroid Hunter has a post 4 hours after all the PMs were sent out. How did he not receive his? If you're reading this MH, please check your private messages. Please try and get confirms in by Saturday or I will have to look for replacements.
Since Leo and DS have theirs, it should not be necessary. Also, if anyone knows how to contact MH by IM, please do so and give him a heads up.

Having said all that:
Choice deadline: Monday, the 28th 1200 EDT

Most choices are in, so it would be fun if we could start earlier as well. No hurry though.
Your happiness is intertwined with your outlook on life.

The final finishing touches are being given to the venues of the meetings, conferences and entertainment. Everything is in readiness for the first ever World's Fair opening tomorrow morning. You go about your assigned areas and carry out the final duties. Nothing is out of place and you hope it will carry on this way. Nothing ought to ruin this fair. Well, nothing can. Who would want to make trouble in this particular village? No one. That's who.
Satisfied with your checklist, you head back to your abode to rest, looking forward to the festivities of the coming days.

Later that night...

Fuldu was heading back to the inn, glowing, after having cornered another hapless victim. It was oh so fun to belittle and nag at others. And this village did particularly provide the choicest of opportunity of fuelling his passion. No way was he going back to Lutetia. People simply had no time for him there. No time to speak, leave alone strike up an argument. And then, these little spats with the husband happened all the time. Eventually, he'd come to the inn, trying to woo back the love of his life. Till then, he would enjoy his temperory freedom from the household chores. Aah! It was great to be pampered at the inn. No washing, cooking, cleaning. Bliss!
While all these merry thoughts played tag across Fuldu's mind, he did not notice the tall, broad figure following him. A pair of arms embraced him and closed over his eyes. For a minute there, Fuldu thought it was the Chief being romantic and feeling sorry. But wait! The Chief had never been able to embrace Fuldu fully, despite his small size. The Chief's belly always got in the way! Just as he prepared to scream, one of the hands clamped down on his mouth and in one quick motion, Fuldu's head turned round to look at his attacker. Unfortunately, it was only the head that turned and not the body. With the medulla snapped, Fuldu never registered who attacked him.

-x-

In another part of town, a tall slender shadow emerged from one of the huts and headed over to the Smithy. The tall, broad shouldered smith looked formidable and could probably handle a weapon quite well. Most of the remaining Gauls seemed unimpressive and it seemed sensible to take out the seemingly dangerous ones first. ZONEACE the village smith was bent over his forge when the stranger entered,

"Hello there! How can I be of service today?"
"Greetings. Would you mind taking a look at my sword? It seems to have become quite blunt lately and caught on a bit of rust."
"Let's see. Why?! That looks like blood! The moisture's that does the sword in and it rusts. It's congealed now. You need to moisten it and rub it off with some polish. The blade does not seem too rusty to me."
"Quite. Let's fix that then, shall we?"

Saying so, the stranger thrust the sword into Fulliautomatix's solar plexus and it came out all gory. (Al Gore? )

'Thank you so much for the assistance," said the stranger, "It's all moist now and I'll be sure to wipe it clean and take much better care of it!"

Safety tip:
Always
make sure that you are handed swords, scissors, knives or other such nasty pointy objects, handle first or it can lead to some unfortunate accidents and messy situations!
This has been your public service message for the day.

The next morning...

The whole town wakes to find Impedimenta sprawled just at the edge of the town square and everyone is shocked. Of all the places in the known world, how could such a thing happen here? In this village? And to the Chief's wife? A quick head count is done and you see three notable people missing. Messengers are sent to the Smithy and Geriatrix's house. The ones from the Smithy come back with the body of Fulliautomatix and the messenger to the house of Geriatrix brings with him, a hysterical Mrs. Geriatrix who claims that her husband has disappeared into thin air. gramathy went out for a walk last night and never quite came back. How can someone just dispappear like that? Especially not at his age. Surely, he couldn't have gone flying? But the facts remain mystifying. Only his cane is found just in front of the porch of his house.

Fuldu, Impedimenta - the Chief's Wife has had his medulla snapped.

ZONEACE, Fulliautomatix the blacksmith, has been stabbed

and gramathy, Geriatrix, is nowhere to be found.

It is day one and 26 people are still in and around the village. 14 votes to lynch.

Two deaths and one missing, this does not bode well :(, plus i can't recall anybody ever even attempting to snap a neck in the comics. Swords were regularly seen, but neck-snapping? Granted, nobody ever really died, but still...

Interesting... Everyone who died are Gauls
and
inhabitants of the little Village. I have no clue about which character are in the game. Chiefs from all over the Roman world and Romans of course... guess we'll find out the names soon enough!

I will stick you on the replacement list Fuldu, as will I, the other two. I hope you guys won't mind and in all frankness, I really don't want you to play anymore (read: hope you won't be needed.) but it's a contingency plan.

Tip of the day from Werebear: After slaying your opponent, always remember to wipe the blood off your sword using some leaves, or some grass, or some rags that might be around a nearby corpse. Leaving blood on a sword is the second surest way to ruin it. The surest way is to sheathe it in the scabbard still besmeared with blood.

Two people voting me? Offended.

Vote: Mgm
for being the second person to vote me. So there.

With regards to the mafia, I think it's a safe assumption that they will be Romans (or characters on the Roman side). We'll almost definitely have Caesar as the Godfather or something... and probably some of the more noteworthy bad guys from one book. Noone who would snap necks springs to mind... though the sudden dissapearance of Geriatrix does remind me of Golden Sickle. Maybe one of the two main bad guys from that? What's his name... *goes to check name* Either Navishtrix or Clovogarlix. Possibly even the Prefect? Also, if I'm on the mark here, that might mean we can get Gramathy back if we lynch the right guy.

gramathy - Geriatrix - missing - night one
Name and- role right? I wouldn't think he'd be coming back- an interesting insight though.

I wonder why they said he disappeared when clearly (to me) he's dead- seeing as how he's in the "dead" list.

It's probably just a mod choice that the person was "Missing" it might be that one group kicks people out of the town or just that they treated him carefully getting rid of the evidence.

Perhaps there are roles that can find missing players.
First thing that comes to mind when thinking about 'missung', is that they might be sold as slaves (or gladiators)

I don't know what to think of the missing person. He
is
on the dead-list. So I think he's dead or at least not coming back. Hmm... three killing-groups. At least one SK and maybe two mafiagroups?

Mafiagroups:
Romans
Asterix, Obelix (and Idefix) (see Phoebus' Harry Potter mafia)
Has your mafiagame lasted for only a few days or maybe it dragged on and on and on? Check the Records page on the wiki to see if it is a record!

Drat three good ones died :(

Maybe the pirates are also a mafiagroup. IIRC they often showed up to make problems in the comics. Also, who would mostly be against a peace between the Gauls and Romans ?
Too bad the descriptions of the characters are in french in the site given by Phoebus

So many possibilities about mafia groups, could be Romans, Pirates, several gangs that showed up in the comics, Gothics...
